I'd never heard about the man behind Hispano-Suiza before. Very interesting. Thanks!

The late 19th-century Swiss disdain for cars made me laugh. In the 1950s, my dad took the family and his Studebaker to Switzerland from Germany. Switzerland was the only place he could get the official Studebaker servicing done at that time. I can still remember driving through tunnels and looking down into valleys onto rooftops with large rocks on them. I think I also remember cows with bells on collars around their necks. Good one, Wild Bill. And look: only 18 to go. Love from Liz and Ginger in Australia.

@@VintageCarHistory Faintly puzzled by the last five names, until I remembered your fish, whose names are much fancier than my fishes': Orange 1, Orange 2, Spot, Whitey, White Face, Gray Tail, and Blackie. (Wait until you're in your 70s; you might understand the need for these easily recalled names.)

@@lizj5740 Having an 89 year old MIL, I've seen memory issues. But for me, being an historian, these are easy names for me. Sambuca was named by my wife (she gets to name the girl cats), and the two pleco's are basically vacuum cleaners so they're named for popular brands. The rest are all named after prominent people in history. If I forget their names, I'll be too far gone to produce this channel.

    So that's why it's named Hispano-Suiza! I am daft!
The originator of French, Czechoslovak, Soviet, etc. aero engines and French, British, US, etc. autocannons...
