I did this because of a poor quality exhaust fluid message and barely any fluid came out, just dropped a little. Is there a check ball or do I have a pump issue? 2012 Silverado 2500 hd
You have to drive it and the pump will pump out small amount as you drive.you will see crystallization .

John Michelon - yeah, just like Gapplebee, i'm wondering if this cleared it up. i'm getting the 'emissions going into limp mode at 175 miles' warning. closest dealer to me is 200 miles. upon research and without a scanner i realize it could be a number of things ie. bad nox senser, bad def tank heater, bad def tank sensor etc. i have no scanner & it hasn't said 'bad def' yet but had the initial thought of draining and putting new in instead of just adding new. prob all a crap shoot though:) -barbie

IT WILL NOT SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM OF POOR QUAILTY DEF!! You Gotta take it to the GM Dealer to get the code Removed & Cleared!!! NO OTHER WAY TO DO IT!!!
so when it drains all the way out, will it affect any of the performance? mine is set up the same way but scared to drop my tank

Please please please please please tell me how the plug you just showed me that is on top of the tank will pump out DEF since it is on top of the tank? I tried it and nothing?

@@ryansanandres5465 I bought a DEF Tester to make sure that the DEF is good before i put it in. So far so good.
My code actual cleared itself the next day, I’m assuming I had some bad pump def
Make a video about things gas trucks guys should know about going from gas to Diesel day to day changes because I dont even know about DEF fluid, I thought you were talking about something else lol
Diesels are good for power as I use mine on my farm but, we have a lot of issues with the DEF system, it can be a nightmare if you leave the system installed. I have not deleted mine cause "I know a guy" that has all the right stuff to work on these. Basically DEF is injected into the exhaust at the point he showed in the video to reduce the emissions. "DEF is an aqueous urea solution made with 32.5% urea and 67.5% deionized water" (found on the internet). Urea which is actually used in the farming industry as a fertilizer, anything that is used as a fertilizer is corrosive, so the white stuff you seen under his truck should be removed as soon as possible.

What will happen if you dont drain DEF on it and you have your truck deleted also.

TheGustavoramos you should wait till def tank is empty or at least half way.... every start up is when def fluid isn’t used most. Drive around the block while it drains. Check engine light will come on jus reset it and repeat process
@@platinumlyfe5113 how do you empty it completely while driving but dont throw any DEF codes or codes for nox sensors etc.???
@@eclipse4388 i had a tune on this truck so I’d clear the code with that if you don’t have a tune jus drive around reset check engine light when it comes on and repeat
U cant do this when ur in limp mode this video is innacurate
Anyone have the DEF quaility codes? I have 5 different softwares and only my tech 2 and pro link removed the bad quality code.
was the poor quality code due to def or NOx sensors? How did you eventually clear the code?GM put out a service bulletin since it has been such a PITA for so many GM Techs
@@evolutiondevelopment6287 i was able to clear it with my pro link, the truck had thermostat codes and nox codes.
I replace the thermostat and did a regen, it successfully completed it.
1 month later the customer came back, with outlet nox code again. I wanted to replace the nox sensor but the customer lost patiences with me and took somewhere else
