i always think about this and each time I end up with immense frustration lmao
I'm from the future, and I can tell you.. but it will terrify you.
I come back to this video every now and then
I can imagine the pain the developers went through to hard code this.
They probably have some software where they do it like with 3d rigging and animation.
They also do a lot of self righting and balancing on the fly. There's actually a lot that's being calculated and adjusted by the robots in the moment, the software that they've developed for this a lot more high level and people that have these can actually put their own choreography together without that much effort. It's pretty incredible.
@@aapjew18 yes, the robots do all the heavy stuff. I was only saying they probably have a software where they can program complex coregraphies like this in the same fashion as 3d animation, then the robot takes that info and does it's best to replicate it in the real environment, balancing and all that.
@@aapjew18 also, there would only be 2 ways to easily make complex coregraphies like this. One is doing it in the 3d anim fashion on the computer, and the second would be enabling the robot to learn them from a real example. So it's most probably one of the two, personally going for the first one in this cade. Any other way won't be that easy.
@@RobertN010 There's actually a video from Adam Savage's Tested that shows this software in use and they make their spot dance a little bit, it's pretty great!

@@najwan3672 imagine if you used Google search or even youtube search. Crazy right? Corridor crew cgi boston
@@DravicPL corridor crew did not work with Boston Dynamics.
They made their own version using motion capture of Clint in Motion Capture suit. The clue in that video is that they called it Bosstown Dynamics. The other clue is that the "Atlas" robot model they used was purposefully made to look different to the actual Atlas robot
@@DravicPLwow, you have quite the attitude for someone who has the most surface-level evidence. i'm preeeetty sure they're just parodies like most of their visual effect skits.
they made these skits where these robots gain sentience and turn against the people who made them. these skits were uploaded to their main channel, and the "making-of" to their second channel. nothing more to that. i really doubt they have ANY connections with the actual boston dynamics. they literally had to model atlas from the ground up. if they worked with BD, they would've given them the 3D schematics so that it'll be easier for them to construct and rig.

@@__ZANE__ It's not highly suspect at all you have no idea what you're talking about. Several special effects experts have already said this video would be impossible to fake this good.
@@__ZANE__ Look at the floor in the video. Watch how it indents, then slowly bounces back. Watch how it reacts differently to different pressures, from wheels, to the balled feet of spot, to the flat feet of Atlas. Look how it flexes as they jump and land. Look how it accumulates dropped fluid. No way *any* CGI company can do that with scripted animation. You'd need a physics engine capable of accurately modeling soft body interactions and years of rendering time just to get those subtle details right.
