None of this is fake, it just looks like it because it looks like an animation, which it technically is but implemented in software onto the robots bringing the motion into reality. YES, IT's REAL! I'm a teacher and I was able to visit Boston Dynamics, and see the robots live in action. We were also allowed to test drive Spot, the dog like robot, using a remote controller. I understand your skepticism... it's good to be cautious, with all the deep fakes and fake news out there, but this one is real. These robots are incredible, fast and precise. Humans are smart, and will always think about problems and solutions, therefore technology will keep progressing.
The developers love to hear people claim it's CGI because what they are really saying is, "that is so amazing and mind blowing that I cannot comprehend how it can even be real so it must be fake." That is one of the best compliments to their work.

For those that are confused, yes these are all real. They aren't doing this on their own though. They have a set of commands programmed into them to move this way. Though they have upgraded them a bit to visualize their environment and make basic determined decisions to go through a small obstacle coarse and lift objects to test their effectiveness. Slowly but surely robots are advancing.

I think technology has advanced in a way that mankind has not expected. Sure we don't have flying cars like in the Jetsons, but we do have miniature computers (aka smartphones) that are small enough to fit in our pockets and carry with us wherever we go. If you own a smartphone and/or a PC, you have access to an endless expanse of information through the internet. AI today may not be as advanced as say HAL 9000, but AI is smart enough to interpret human speech and can even remotely operate household appliances. Medicine has also made great strides for the last half century. In my opinion I'd take better medicine and medical tech over flying cars any day, but maybe that's just me.

It's wild to me how many people think this is fake. Why would anyone need to fake this? We already have the technology needed to make this. If anything, making CGI this advanced would be equally impressive, equally costly, and not as useful.
They also do a lot of self righting and balancing on the fly. There's actually a lot that's being calculated and adjusted by the robots in the moment, the software that they've developed for this a lot more high level and people that have these can actually put their own choreography together without that much effort. It's pretty incredible.

I was only saying they probably have a software where they can program complex coregraphies like this in the same fashion as 3d animation, then the robot takes that info and does it's best to replicate it in the real environment, balancing and all that.

One is doing it in the 3d anim fashion on the computer, and the second would be enabling the robot to learn them from a real example. So it's most probably one of the two, personally going for the first one in this cade. Any other way won't be that easy.

The clue in that video is that they called it Bosstown Dynamics. The other clue is that the "Atlas" robot model they used was purposefully made to look different to the actual Atlas robot

These people who don't believe have obviously never seen these things in person, also the people who are spectical about how smooth it is, you also have never seen people choreograph staged vids, this looks so smooth because you've never seen the failed shots, just as in speedruns of games, it's hard to believe that thoes runs were done by a person because you don't see the failed runs. It's the same here, this is very impressive and the programers who choreographed these dances should be very proud

I live in brooklyn and I've never seen these robots. And one of the precincts near me supposedly bought some and couldn't even use them because people found them scary

They made their own version using motion capture of Clint in Motion Capture suit. The clue in that video is that they called it Bosstown Dynamics. The other clue is that the "Atlas" robot model they used was purposefully made to look different to the actual Atlas robot
@@DravicPLwow, you have quite the attitude for someone who has the most surface-level evidence. i'm preeeetty sure they're just parodies like most of their visual effect skits.
they made these skits where these robots gain sentience and turn against the people who made them. these skits were uploaded to their main channel, and the "making-of" to their second channel. nothing more to that. i really doubt they have ANY connections with the actual boston dynamics. they literally had to model atlas from the ground up. if they worked with BD, they would've given them the 3D schematics so that it'll be easier for them to construct and rig.
It's truly incredible how fast they've improved the balance of their bipedal robots at BD.
