Doesn’t surprise me that he didn’t even get a thank you. I’ve worked super hard and a lot of overtime and have great work ethic every day while 90% of my co workers don’t. I always get my mail out no matter how hard it is and not once have I heard good job or thank you. I mentioned it once and I was severely put down for it ! I don’t want or need their praise now. I know who and what I am.

I appreciate the mail carriers getting my mail to me without losing or breaking it. The Post office is still very dependable and cheaper than the other delivery companies.

@@NoNo-iz8hd That's not true at all. And I personally take offense to you watching a 3 minute news clip online and thinking you know anything about the post office. There are men and women out there daily in the heat, cold, sleet, rain who sacrificed their family, their time, and LITERALLY their lives to bring you your mail daily. They care a whole lot. How dare you took a tragedy like a mail truck flipping over on the interstate and turn it into an opportunity to bash the men and women who bring to your mail daily for free. These incredibly hard working men and women do more than you can imagine on a daily basis and it's an entirely thankless job, no doubt from people like you. The mail carriers haven't received a raise, or a bonus, or single cent added to their pay for over 3 years. Not even a "thank you" for working during COVID. And many them died for it. Yet they brave harsh conditions, extreme stress, an uninformed public and being killed along their routes by people trying to rob them for their keys. So I assure you that if it weren't for the goodness of these men and women caring about your mail and risking their lives to get it to you, you surely would never receive it. In addition, each one made a personal oath to the federal government to uphold the constitutional promise to the American people to deliver the mail daily. Without them personally caring and their oath, they certainly haven't been provided with any other motivation or incentive. And you get to sit up in your house and receive this benefit of your individual mail being shipped, sorted, and hand-delivered to YOUR HOME to you, for free, without any effort on your own. Shame on you.

It landed back into the "hands" of the Post Office, who lost it in the first place, by trusting it to a third party contractor. Their third party contractor then failed to live up to their responsibility, but it still falls back on the heads of the Post Office Services, who was entrusted with an important duty to oversee the care of that mail until it was in the recipients "hands". Unbelievably irresponsible behavior on the third party contractor AND the Post Office employees/management. It's one thing to let private letters and cards be strewn all over the highway, it's another matter entirely to allow legal documents and identification materials fly around this country's roadways! How do you think criminals get fake I.D.'s and personal information on fellow Americans? This complete lack of oversight by anybody except slippery corporate law and third party contractors is certainly one. Everyday tons of private information goes into dumpsters and landfills as well. Our nation is becoming one giant corporate greed joke to the entire world!

Then he left and we have a couple, he drives and she puts the mail in the box and the packages get put where people can see them and get rained on. I am not happy with them. They only have to take a few more steps to put them in a safe place. I also wonder if her driver is getting paid. We really need responsible people that does the right things with such sensitive mail and packages. Same with Fed Ex and UPS. There is no room for mistakes or choosing to throw out things along the road because you don't want to deliver them. Don't take the job if you can't handle it.

I worked as a courier for 23 years. I did my share of postal runs (don't ask). Some year around 2012 between Thanksgiving and christmas I'm off work in the morning (I was working graveyard shift at the time) and I was on my way home from somewhere when I saw a mail tub on it's side with mail scattered at the street ahead of me and on my right. I checked over my shoulder and zipped over quick and basically blocked the traffic wanting to enter and leave the residential street while I collected the mail. There was a shopping center just ahead of me and I thought it would be a good place to find a postal carrier, and if not I could run it to the post office. I drove through, then saw a mail delivery vehicle parked at the McDonald's at the edge of the lot. I rushed over and got there just as the carrier was getting back to his vehicle with a coffee. I rolled down my window and yelled, "HEY!!! I got something for you!!!". I parked behind him and I'm sure he was dreading this middle-aged guy wanting to give him something. I hop out and pop my trunk and pull out the tub and asked him if he could take this from me. He looked at it and asked me what it was and I told him. He couldn't believe it. It was from his post office, but it wasn't his and he had no idea how it could have gotten dropped since all postal vehicles are enclosed. I didn't either. He took it off my hands and promised to take care of it. "Aunt Bischoff" got her christmas package and everyone else got their mail. I guess. I never heard anything about it afterwards.

Thank you Mr. Atkins. I try to live by a quote I saw from Lily Tomlin that said something to the effect of, 'I thought somebody should do something about that and then I realized that I was somebody.' I always tried to teach my students to think on their own and if they saw something that wasn't right, don't wait for someone to tell you to fix it, do it on your own. I hike trails in a nearby park and everyday, I carry out someone else's trash. I don't just look at it and think, "It's not mine, or it's not my job." I don't work there but I am not going to wait for a park employee to fix it when I can do something about it. Thank you again!

I've lived all over the country. This is the first place I've lived where the postal service is a joke and nobody cares enough to fix it. A similar incident happened in Indy, and they had workers out there immediately, gathering up all the mail and then notified people about their mail.
