I remember watching a 60 minutes story a long, long time ago and they went in to all these agency’s. They walk up to the office door and tried to get into the office to interview the workers. It was scary. Some of the places were so obscure and that was back when they would go into the office and actually sit at a desk. Now these people don’t even go into the office drawing a paycheck working towards retirement.

@@oldegrunt US supported itself without any income tax only on tariffs and fees until 1913 and we financially were fine. Before we get the inflation lecture regarding tariffs we had record low inflation during much of that time and in Trump's first term as well that had tariffs on China and others.

If you break it down by agency “company” it’s not even close to the largest. The largest agency the DoD has 747k civilian employees that’s touching the top private companies. But again with a 1T budget you need massive oversight lol. To not be the largest employer you’d need less than 2.1M employees which is Walmarts current total head count. The fed has a little over 2M total. I think we can eliminate lots of waste in the government but at the same time it’s also SUPER expensive to replace people with contractors.
