- In Thailand, a common observation you will make is that there is a lot older foreign men with younger Thai women. So I went to ask Thai people what they think of this phenomenon.

I enjoyed this video, being an old man living in Thailand. The responses of the Thai's interviewed were indicative of why I love it here so much.
genuine question, I'm a 32 year old brit... if I wanted to move to thailand and find a woman how much would I need per month? I have done a lil bit of research, I read that 45,000 baht would be enough which equals about £1000 a month... is this true or would I need more/less?

Thai people are so polite - no issues or hangups, whereas people in the West are so judgmental and freely say very rude and belittling comments towards the older gent or younger girl - Westerners have way too many hangups how other people should live.
Older women in western countries feel after all the chase and avoidance and monetary appreciation they demanded from men while they were young should not be allowed in the generation where they are older now. The tables turn at the need and the irony shoes mightily with some women.
What really ironic and double standard is how older women show very little issue with hooking men up with other men (friends) if the hookup helps that woman in some way. Don't believe me? Run a test and then switch your interest to a young woman and see how the attitude completely changes. I had a woman trying to hook me up with her son even...and it was not done too aggressively but when she saw I was hanging out with a woman much younger than me who wanted me to be her friend so as to help her with school and things, and I added, "Plus, I have no interest that way wherein men are concerned she went off on me...??? The woman was her son's age too. Wtf. Ahhhhhh...women. 🤣
Today, so many young western people are unbelievably disrespectful. As if the world revolves around them and they will never grow old. Asians are respectful of elders and appreciate the wisdom, respect and stability that older men provide. Young westerners have a rude awakening coming one day.
@@Tom-tk3du Hm...The older Than people I know have told me personally that they feel westerners treat them with much respect...in lines at stores, assisting with carrying things or opening doors for them, etc. Kind words go a long way...but truth does also. It appears Deep State on both sides of the ocean wish spreading false promise see to gain the power they truly want and also they live to create white guilt for things not deserved. Nobody is perfect but be serious...If you don't think this phenomenon can be transferred to others later you are kidding yourself.
@@smaugthemagnificent I mis-spoke, you are correct every one is judgmental to a degree, but Thais as well as Indonesians, Singaporean, Khemers in my opinion hold in their feelings especially if it is not flattering to someone else.
@@smaugthemagnificent you are spot on, i've worked in Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore for 20 years - now back in Indonesia - and what you say rings true with me. Besides "saving face" for themselves, they also "give face" to not embarrass another person. Whereas in the West, and I grew up in the US through university and years after, Westerns have no problem telling it like it is as I think you mentioned. I'm Asian American and straddle both sides. My bank was acquired by a Japanese bank, and an EVP female banking office was quoted, "I'll be damned if I'm going to serve tea" as if Japanese executives can't differentiate a senior banking officer and an administrative secretary.
I am an older Caucasian Australian man of 62. My Thai wife, who I married 40 years ago, is 4 years older than me. We have 4 children and two grandchildren. I met my wife while I was teaching at a university in Thailand in 1980. I have been teaching in Asia since.
I have a wonderful extended family in Thailand. All who are loving and successful in Thai society.
Don't think because you are young and have a little experience in Thai culture and language, you can judge that older farang on the the street with a young Thai girl. That may be me, with my niece.

Thais will rarely tell a foreigner the truth if the truth is negative.
It is not just old Farangs with Thai women. There are lots of old Thai men and young Thai women too but they don't stick out like sore thumbs. If they are happy in the relationship what is the problem?

@Xx X What's stopping them? If they're attracted to them, they will seek them. "Fair" doesn't mean anything in regards to what people are attracted to in a relationship. I'm a 5'10" average white guy...if a woman is more attracted to a tall athletic black guy, should I complain about how it's not "fair"? No, that's just the way things are.
Your logic is flawed, unless you're talking about imposing some sort of forceful pairing of partner types. See how that flies.

I'm a 63 year old American and I am married to a 33 year old Thai girl. I will admit that I believe the reason why so many older men come to Thailand is that Thai woman are more open to be with a older man. Thai woman in general treat men alot better than Western woman that is a big factor for coming to Thailand.

I think Ron J's response was that the Thai people in the video are positive and nice about the questions being asked. No nastiness and shaming language like you'd find in the Western countries. I've seen similar questions asked of Western women and the nastiness and insults start flying.

Entire cities like Pataya would not exist had it not been for this specific type of tourism. So yes, he did say exactly that.

I’ve been going to Thailand for nearly 30 years. My first time was when I was very young and in the military, and I really liked the place quite a bit. Now that I’m much older, I still like it quite a bit, but I’m fully aware of the stereotype of the older sex tourist and it’s very likely that I look like that now. But I try not to let it bother me, because that’s not the reason I go. If I meet a nice Thai woman for conversation or whatever, great, if not, I don’t care. I’m there to enjoy the atmosphere, great food, and just relax. I don’t like to go to the bars, even though the women are very beautiful. The music is just way too loud for me, plus I hate that type of music as well. So I just like to sit at the beach or a nice cafe during the day, do a lot of beach and city walking for exercise, and then at night have a nice dinner in a restaurant, and then maybe have a Singha while I sit at an outside bar and enjoy the night. Just a carefree vacation with no expectations, definitely not trying to be a drunken sex tourist. I hope Thai people understand that even though we all might look similar, we aren’t all the same.

Same here. I do enjoy the bars and a drink. The bars with 70's and 80's music and better still those that don't harass you. I'm happy to buy drinks and have a laugh but draw the line at that. I think that attracts the better girls who know you aren't there for sex and they aren't trying to screw you for money. They can relax.
But best of all...the food, the sun, the culture and the people.

It is my understanding the Thai working girls refer to these older European men as "buffaloes" (fat, docile and easily led). I think this situation is born of mutual desperation on the women's side we have grinding poverty and on the men's "relationship retardation" and loneliness; essentially it is a transaction that is both emotional and financial. I think ultimately prostitution is very sad but it is the oldest profession and serves needs. If the older gentleman falls in love, builds a house and lifts the girl's family out of poverty, then that has got to be better than what previously prevailed? I've been married 27 years to a Thai woman (met here in OZ) and she is 5 and a bit years older than me (smarter and much better educated). When we met she looked younger and now she looks MUCH younger and I know lots of Thai language phrases like; "lazy husband"...."mow the lawn"....water the garden"...".wash/fold the clothes"...vacuum etc etc and have no hair. I think culturally the differences make the relationship stronger and more fascinating but if you think your Thai lady friend will do more than her fair share of the domestic duties.....fool you! Luckily I married for love and not for domestic ease. As for the sex trade, especially the ugly trade in children but also younger ladies from poorer areas of SE Asia it needs to STOP!!! Thailand and the Thai people are beautiful and I think the vast majority of people visit for this reason. If we want to talk about stereotypes my experience of meeting my wife was as follows: when I told people who I was with, they would say "Did she work in a bar?"....or "She wants a VISA".....or things much worse involving ping pong balls! I met my wife when she worked in our family business and she had a degree from Chulalongkorn University and did not come out of a dire circumstance. The real question is of course, does it really matter? If a couple want to make a life together regardless of how they meet, shouldn't we be cheering them on? Love is something the world needs more of! Love the interviews, perhaps you could interview mixed couples, long term, short term, gay, straight etc etc and find out how they met and what keeps them together! Lagornah!

The Thai-"girls" that hook up older farang are mostly in a bad situation. When you are a woman with two children and you are 21-25 or so marriage is no more option for you in Thailand.
So: Your husband was bored by wife and children and went elsewhere. You have two options . If you look good go to a bar and hope a farang will marry you or you open up a small business like laundy or streetfood stall. Let those bar- ladies do their job and don't blame them and do not blame the farang for having a little fun in older ages. It's a win-win situation.

@@expliteronboom3075 India is absolutely faszinating and has a a long history. The culture is is thousends of years old and many things (maths, medical science, astronomy, phlosophy, even buddism) come from India. To explore this country you would need two livetimes.
The best thing of India the Indian people. I never met never met so nice people like the Indians before.
I wouldn't call it a win- win situation, when one part feels it's her only option. It's just really sad.

Just discovered you Paddy and binge watching. One thing that stands out is how friendly, charming and laid back these Thai people seem. They just seem to be living life. You make me want to go there badly when prior it wasn’t necessarily in my top 10 or anything. I did study Muay Thai a couple years and love the food. It’s sad so many go there for sex industry. I’d want to go to learn the history and see ancient sites etc.
I couldn't say a word of Thai before this video but now I know "take care".

Its not a problem at all in Thailand, the only place where its a problem is back at home in your own country where everyone is narrow minded and judges you and expect you to stick to the status quo, but these are people who hasn't lived! or people who wishes that they had younger girlfriend and just haven't got the bottle to try it, so because of jealousy they expect you to be like them, meanwhile they slag you off behind your back, but wish they had what you got!

I agree, my late wife was from Okinawa. No problems in her homeland, but here in the US it was unbelievable how badly she was treated here, even by own family. To tell the world a big FU,we adopted 2 babies from Korea.
We were married on 1976, God took her from me on Easter Sunday 2019.
Things have changed so much since we married in the mid 70's. Now as an older white man, I am the one society treats badly. When I can I am coming to Thailand to find my last wife.

Last time I was in Thailand it was the Koreans and Japanese hanging around the red light areas. And increasingly from India.
Most of the older westerners were just hanging around drinking and eating.
Yes, it is vast majority other Asians that go to the red light areas, but the Europeans will always stand out from the rest and be more visible

Gipsz Jakab You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Japanese even have their own red light area Thaniya, close to PatPong. Or step outside BTS Thong Lo or Phrong Phong and find many Japanese restaurants, ramen shops etc.

As a westerner who is retiring next year in Thailand I will testify that, in general, I have found that Asian women treat their men better than Western women do--there are always exceptions. Another thing I like about Thailand is that they are mostly Buddhists, a religion that seems kinder than the Christians--except maybe for the true Christians--but in the US there are so many who claim to be Christian but they do not act like it one bit except for show. Of course, familiarity breeds contempt so I may not like it so well after a few years but I am going to give it a go.

I think you said it well, "familiarity breeds contempt." I was once guilty of romanticizing Buddhism. After years of objective reading the actual practicing temples seem no less hypocritical than organized religions anywhere. Comes down to being obsessed about $$$. Now I'm not speaking about the tenets of the philosophy itself; rather the organized religion as practiced en mass. On a more positive note, as a child I read a beautiful book that did quite well in comparing the similarities of Christianity and Buddhism. Can't recall now if it was Ethel Mannin's "The Living Lotus," or Rudyard Kiplings, "Kim;" But I think it was the first one. Later I happened onto Joseph Campbell's "Hero With a Thousand Faces," which also does the comparison of universal truths among the worlds religions and philosophies. Eventually a friend introduced me to Theosophy which again examines ageless wisdom and universal truths. What becomes apparent is that it's not so much this or that religion that is any more virtuous than another as it is how much each of us implements those profound truths in our daily lives.
Ahaha, maybe because you need to start treating women better. Not all Thai women will out up with your shit, they soon will stop. Start treating others how you'de like to be treated.

Do it brother.... study hard. Go back. Enjoy your life. There is good and bad everywhere. Don't listen to the nay sayers. It took me 7 years of manipulating my career to be able to live there for 6.5 years with dozens of trips before that. I have been used, abused, deceived, loved, cared for, befriended, chewed up and spit out and taken in like a lost relative by people I barely know. Everything is not only possible in Thailand, it happens. You never know how the day is going to end until you wake up the next morning. Everything people say here is true in part and not true in part. The role of support, including financial support in Thailand has a different meaning than it does in the West. Friendships are different. Love is different. Just go and do it all. I have never regretted it and after I finalize securing my future over the next several years, I will be retiring there. All I can say is that the honeymoon with Thailand ended for me about 12 years ago, but I love it still, with all its warts and limitations and beautiful and grandeur. Don't hold back and good luck!
I spent 4 months in Northern Thailand (Chiang Rai) from November '19 til March '20 and loved it. I flew into Chiang Mai and bussed it up to CR. I'm one of the older guys that doesn't do the bar and bar girl thing, is totally turned off by prostitution and loves really good (no happy ending) massage. I've never been to the high tourist areas and have no desire to go. The Thai's I met are normal Thai people living normal lives. I met a really nice, beautiful, 50 year old Thai woman there (I'm 68) and was planning on going back in November to spend extended time there and probably move there. Of course Covid came along so travel plans are up in the air now. I have several friends there, older guys like me from the U.K., U.S., and Australia who have wonderful long term relationships with Thai. women who are younger than they are that they met in the local community and/or were introduced to. None of these women were "working girls" which seems to me to be the key in finding a good, honest and caring relationship.

A long acting ester such as Test Enathanate would only have to be injected twice a month. Take 20mg Cialis a day and get some moderate exercise and some resistance training and eat a healthy diet with quality protein. Mitchell Carson I appreciate your response (I think) but after reading back thru my original post I fail to see anything that might make you assume that There is a physiological reason for what I posted. I have a pretty high testosterone level for a 68 year old, walk hard and work out generally 6 days every week and 10mg of testosterone works well taken only when needed. I don't personally like the bar girl, prostitution or happy ending thing that attracts many Caucasian men to countries where there are a high availability of brown women (I live in Costa Rica) where many (not all) of them have underlying and often serious financial issues and /or families they are supporting. There are a lot of issues including drugs, human trafficking, etc. under the whole worldwide sex industry that I make a personal decision not to support plus for me personally it turns me off totally. If I were living in Thailand I would much rather find a mate or female companion from within the community as several of my friends have that are a similar age to me.

Good video, Thai people really are the nicest and I could listen the ladies talk all day long, even though I understand very little Pah Sah Thai.
I'm an old white guy who loves Thailand and I know the scene and that's alright. That doesn't mean you can't have a fun, respectful relationship and be friends. Some have become long term good friends. That's one of the things I love about Thai people the lack of judgement.
It is not that Thai people lack judgement. They simply give opinion that won’t insult old white farangs. Thai people in general respect (almost to the point of worship) farangs more than people from Asian countries. If old Chinese, Vietnamese or other from Asia walk around with young Thai girls, I bet you would hear uproars from every Thai.
I heard Thai (most are my friends) complain when Chinese tourists make a mess in tourist town. But they keep silent when white tourists (US and Europeans) make a mess. Perfect example is the full moon party in the south of Thailand, Ko Pa-Ngan.

Comparatively speaking, after having a great relationship with a Thai woman, I can never imagine going back to having a relationship with a foreign women closer to my age. Their kindness, caringness and calmness is infectious. Don't abuse that, treat her well and life will be amazingly fun and enjoyable.
You can compliment a certain type of woman without belittling the others. It’s not a competition.

I find your comment interesting. As a man who lived in Thailand for 6 years. There are good & bad people everywhere. The level of corruption in Thailand is off the charts and many of these 'innocent' thai women run successful rackets on multiple western men. Yes there are good women here too but mostly they are after men with money. The fact that they are poorer means you comparatively can be also but the exact same mentality exists. A lot of these women say and act in exactly the way they believe you want them to act but a lot are duplicitous to the extreme and absolutely not sincere in their declaration of love that fall from their lips without much effort and can happen several times a day.
Finding a 'good woman's has a lot to do with the qualities you seek out in a woman. If you are vacuous and want beauty over integrity, loyalty and honesty, you will get shafted all the time.
You also need to consider that you will only have one income with these women, your own! A total dependant. No inheritance opportunities either. So it's a mixed bag and not the mecca some of these men believe. You are also relegated to the ...other older creepy man. Even in these interviews they hide their true feelings. Most in Thailand do not like these old dudes taking their daughters.

Well thought out and interesting opinions here! One obvious thing that wasn’t mentioned is older folks are more likely to be retired, and Thailand is a relatively affordable place to live on retirement savings. Therefore, you’ll see more.
I like that they seem to have their own individual opinions instead of having a general idea of how life should be like we do in the U.S.

I think the topic is also true for my country, the Philippines. Majority are Americans though because we speak better English and our Americanized culture. But I also agree that as long as you have mutual understanding, and know what you both want from the relationship, then it shouldn’t be an issue.
I just also want to commend your channel. I want to learn Thai because I love this country. Your channel is part of my daily exposure to Thai so I can familiarize myself
more with the language.

Been going 2 Thailand since '03 & spent many extended periods there , just came back from living there for 6yrs because of COVID but I will say Thai girls definitely know how 2 take care of you much more than westerner women generally & ever tho Thais are more conservative than most westerners would think but they're much less judgemental that's why dating older men or women isn't a issues for them.

I`ve lived in Thailand for 30 years, my Thai wife and I are the same age.
But the Thais do look down on younger Thai women that go with old western men.
It`s no different from western countries, younger women go with much older men for money and if these old western men believe that young attractive Thai women want them for their charm and personality, they are living in cloud cuckoo land.
There is a saying here in Thailand; no money, no honey and that`s a fact.
Look down ,but happy to take the money... money number 1 in LOS

Thailand has changed a lot since i’ve lived here especially Bangkok. There are now so many young Thai and farang couples (including myself and my fiancé) that the stereotype of the old farang and young Thai girl is fading

I am a product of your vdo! Met a beautiful Thai lady in Phuket and we are so happy together. She knows I could walk away and I know she could walk away too! It's a beautiful mutual relationship. I meet her family and now they are MY family. Nothing compares from Los Angeles. Thailand beautiful people beautiful country!
