- I got this through a trade with Pete Lombardi. It was in pieces and I simply put it back together. I checked for fuel, spark and compression, but it still doesn't start. I removed the muffler to see the condition of the piston and it looked perfect. I suspect the rings are compacted with carbon and are notnexpandong in the cylinder thus not having compression. I await comments to continue part 2.

The last time I used it was almost finished with a job it started to rain, and then just begin to pour down rain, took the blow off my back set it on the ground and ran to the truck 10 to 15 minutes later stop raining, I got out to finish the job but blower would not start brand new red Max the same as yours
It’s the coil
I had the same problem measure the coil for resistance
If you watched the video, I checked the coil for resistance, it’s not the coil
check compression, rings may stuck closed. I didn't see spark. check for spark.
Rings stuck, bore scored. Replaced and still running great 2 years later.
I was gave on just like it two yers ago just had time to work on it did everything you did. First I found one wire for cut off switch was unplugged in between the gas tank and bottom of the motor . Plugged it up from the bowl no more than three times Starrter ran perfect started it three days in a row let it run next day went to start it nothing nothing nothing the little red cut off switch by the throttle was stuck in
Ps if the flywheel shears the woodruff key it wont start

Would check the timing first, second reeds and third could be a weak spark under compression.
Also could be the gas/oil mix.
Sprayed right into chamber should have ignited..so irrelevant on the mix.
You ever get that running ? I'm having same exact issue as you .. I have a 8500 started to use it and gas started pouring out the exhaust....bought new carb and put on it ....now ...nothing ...zilch...i have injected ether ...pre mix fuel...into the cylinder jug ...carb ...etc...nothing..have good spark...hard to pull crank ...seems like good compression...wears me out pulling rope ...lol...im fairly handy and can fix equipment ...just rebuilt a kx125 two stroke ...runs great... But for the life of me ...i can't figure this one out... I'm doing what you do ...go in and watch some videos on this model.. lol.. Hope all is well ..thanks for sharing your info and knowledge...much appreciated.

Check the flywheel key
I have the same and the same problem it's been in the shed for the last 2 years but I am thinking the problem is adjust the valves or the key is broke timing teeth

Check the spark again it possibly has weak spark , it might need pistion rings , great video 👍👍
The 8050 is a much older unit than the 7500 and the 7500 and 8500 brings more money than an 8050 would. I had a, 8050 that was in perfect condition and it took me like 2 weeks to get only $250 for it. The 8050 is from the same era as the 7150, 8000, etc. The newer units are the 7500, 8500, and newest 8550. 8050 is still a decent unit and worth repairing if you don't have to invest alot in parts. I have a 7500 sitting in my shed that's been there for 6 months now, it starts right up and runs strong and is only missing the elbow tube for the air intake and the air filter. I'll get the parts one of these days and sell that blower for $300 or so. As long as that blower has spark the main problem with that blower is more than likely fuel delivery related. Even if the primer bulb works and the carb sucks fuel and everything looks like it should work that carb may still have a bad whelch plug or maybe the neoprene is bad or some other hard to repair problem. Much easier and cheaper to hop on ebay and buy a new carb kit for around $15 with free shipping. Kit comes with everything to get that blower going, new carb, gaskets, fuel lines/ filter. Just bolt those parts on that that blower should fire right up. I never trust the gas that's in the tank when I get a non running piece of equipment in, better to be safe than sorry and just pour out the old and use your own fresh gas mix. I've done about 20 redmax blowers this year and 95% of the time they don't start is because the carb is no good. @@MowersNBlowers Does it feel pretty tight and pop when you pull the pull rope? You could also try removing the coil and cleaning the contacts and the magnets on the flywheel then resetting the coil with a business card. If it's not firing strong enough this could be an issue too. I'd say its the carb and or fuel lines and gaskets. That carb kit has all of the parts for the fuel system and should solve your problem.
@@bigtexas7580 thanks big Tex, it feels pretty tight...I'll try to drain tank and clean carb today. Maybe check flywheel key and then piston if it doesn't work. Stay tuned.
Best series right now from Redmax is 8550. Next one was the 8500. Pretty good model.
I've got a 8500 and a 8550. Those straps degrade fast in the sun. I've had to replace them every couple of years. They are only $30 a pair online. I've always been told you can't rebuild those carbs so, I wouldn't start there. I've replaced a couple of carbs in the past on my Red Max equipment and that was usually the reason it wouldn't start for me.

i am a novice on that also, but i would prob check the rings and see maybe some carbon buildup like u said
It's very similar to my stihl br320, except carb is much higher end on yours, but from my experience, check the reed valves, check that switch, then dive into the top end of the cylinder, rings, bore, or maybe timing is off check the flywheel key.
You need to check compression...remember you need 4 components to get combustion
air
spark
fuel
compression equals combustion
There are 2 types of compression checks...dry and wet. Wet would adding a little 2 cycle oil to bump it up. If I were you...since it easy to do. Pull Spark Plug, ad a little 2 cycle oil and as your doing it pull the recoil. Re-install plug and see what happens. If that doesn't work check the keyway to make sure it isn't sheared. Its an older model but a goodie! Even thought it has the model numbers the flat faced air filter cover is a dead giveaway. I have a few videos on Redmaxes on my channel. They are nothing to this extent, been lucky so far.

There's no switch. If it wasn't on, I wouldn't have any spark.

try a new spark plug and drizzle some fresh gas oil mix in spark plug hole instead of carb cleaner.
Touchy two Cycles
Ive have wood ruff key and flywheel problems. Im having this problem on an almost new 8550. The flywheel is stuck sovthe timing is off .

My compression guage doesn't fit the small plug hole.
Just had MINE do that... rings froze on exhaust side of piston

You should have heated up the piston with a cheap home depot propane torch

Remove carburetor and breathe carburetor cleaner still nothing.
This one is weird. Even if the carburetor was bad you have spark and sprayed into the cylinder so you should get some kind of life out of it. Unless the rings or the cylinder wall is bad I just don’t know.😀
Yup, a real head scratcher. Gonna remove the top end next.
