Does it really stay hot for 10 mins when not placed on base. Mine only lasts few seconds and then I need to put it back. Shall I look to claim warranty

I have never really kept mine off the base for 10 minutes. I know I have used it for about 6 minutes and it was not as hot as I like for crisp folds.
