The Passover , celebrated every year by the Jewish people remembering their freedom from slavery in Egypt by God’s power, a day of redemption. Jesus also celebrated this event but He added to it His redemption from sin by paying for them by His death paying for them instead of His followers.

4/18/05 From YahuShua HaMashiach, Our Lord and Savior The Word of The Lord Spoken to Timothy For All Those Who Have Ears to Hear Thus says The Messiah who is called Christ, The Holy One of Israel: I am The Lamb of God without spot or blemish, the blood which was shed and placed upon the doorposts,[1] delivering My people from the power of sin,[2] which is death.[3] I am The Passover.[4] For as it is written in The Law, all things must be purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there can be no remission.[5] Thus no one goes to The Father, unless they receive of Me. Unless they eat My flesh and drink My blood, they have no life in them. For whosoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has everlasting life, and I will raise them up at the Last Day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. Thus all who eat My flesh and drink My blood live in Me, and I in them. I am The Living Bread which came down from Heaven! If anyone eats this bread, he will live forever! And the bread that I gave was My flesh, which was given for the life of the world. This I have already told you.[6] Therefore keep the Passover in remembrance of Me and My Passion, according to The New Covenant.[7] For it is accomplished, and was sealed forevermore upon My resurrection. For The Lamb was slain, My people redeemed in all the earth; and behold, I am risen, crowned with glory and honor, forever and ever.[8] Amen. Therefore, again I say to you, celebrate Passover, yet not as in the days of Moses; nor as the unbelieving in Israel, upon whom the veil remains, for they have yet to look upon Me.[9] For the Passover was a signpost, a shadow of glorious things to come.[10] Read the writing thereof and have understanding, take its meaning to heart.[11] For the Holy Days are revelation, the Plan of the Ages revealed. Therefore rejoice, My people, for your Redeemer lives! Death has passed over you!... Therefore eat, drink, and give thanks In remembrance of Me, and I shall also Remember you in the day I gather My own... Then shall you truly know Me, Just as I have always known you, Even from the foundation of the world... Says He who is, and was, and is to come,[12] YahuShua, The Salvation of God." Thus says the Lord, YAHUSHUA-YAHUWAH is His Name. YAHUWAH causes to be, YAHUSHUA. The only perfect Lamb of God, it had to be God Himself in the flesh for no one was righteous, not one! What is passover you ask? He has answered already, "I am the Passover." I finish with these Word from the Lord, if you so choose embrace it now brothers and sisters: "The Lord is eternal; HE IS! He never ends! His love, His mercy, His justice, His majesty, His glory, His sorrow, all that He is endures forever! Likewise His creation has no end, no boundaries! There are no limits to contain it, for it is as He is!... HE IS THE CREATOR!... Everlasting, eternal, The Alpha and Omega, The Beginning and The End, The First and The Last by whom all things exist and have their being, through whom all living things have life! Kiss The Son, therefore! Bow down heavily and give Him glory! Let the knowledge of who He is fill your heart with wonder and awe, with great reverence and worship! Give Him thanks and praise! For Holy is The Lord God Almighty, His ways past finding out! For who can understand the knowledge of The Lord contained within creation, or know the depths of His wisdom?! Yet His Glory surrounds us on every side, testifying to His majesty beyond question! Indeed, we are without excuse! Behold, even the whole of creation shouts, “YAHUSHUA is YAHUWAH!” For it is He by whom all things consist, It is He who causes to be... For The Lord our God is One!"
Christ is the Passover Lamb. The Lamb was consumed, Jesus instituted the Eucharist and the Priesthood at the Last Supper. The Last Supper is happening at every Mass, we offer ourselves in response to his self sacrifice (Romans 12:1). The Apostles understood what ‘do this in remembrance’ meant. They and their successors have been following Christ’s command for 2000 years.
Jesus and the Third Passover Cup The New Testament names one of the cups-the cup taken after supper, which is traditionally the third cup. Jesus calls this cup "the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you" (Luke 22:20). The Apostle Paul calls it, "the cup of blessing which we bless," as well as "the cup of the Lord" (1 Corinthians 10:16,21). Both Jesus and Paul draw on something from Jewish tradition to provide insights not previously understood. By calling the cup "the new covenant in my blood," Jesus makes a direct reference to the promise of Jeremiah 31. God had declared that He would make a new covenant because the previous covenant had become "broken" (Jeremiah 31:32). To violate a covenant agreement with God would surely incur His wrath and judgment-a terrible cup! But instead, God promised a new covenant of grace and salvation. Jesus declared that this new covenant would be poured from the cup of salvation in His blood. The cup of redemption stood for more than the Hebrews' escape from Egypt; it stood for the plan and purpose of God for all the ages. Judgment and salvation, wrath and redemption are brought together in the mystery of one cup, explained by the Messiah in that upper room. Jesus was not speaking of the cup in a purely symbolic manner. He was describing events that would soon occur in His own life.

Good old Dr. Sproul. One of the best. I own more audio material by him than any other expositor. Learned a lot listening to him over the years.
