Thank you so much 😊 as a C grade player myself my backhand clear was mostly wrist, which really hurt the wrist, this video helped me realise I was meant to rely on my forearm rotation instead. Ive only been playing for about a year now and this should help eliminate that weakness from my game
Here is something that I don't understand. 😶 In the doubles defence video that I just watched, it showed you both doing a side on split step. But in this video you use a directional split step. I understand why a directional split step is used. Bit I don't understand how you know which one to use, if you are doing a split step as your opponent hits the shuttlecock. You literally can't know where it's going to go, until after you've done a split step (of some kind) *and then seen* which way the shuttlecock is going. So is it best to do a side-on split step, see which way the shuttlecock is going, then very quickly change to the directional split step? 😵🤔 This situation often results in the shuttlecock going over my head and having to run backwards to get it, because I did normal split step. Am I making sense 🤔?
Makes sense what your saying. you'll split square when under pressure and you don't know where the shuttle is going. You'll use the directional split based on what your expecting your opponent to do and how well you can anticipate your opponents next shot. You can practice the direction split with single shots and learn with practice to implement this in matches with more game experience.
Weakest part of my game; this helped massively. Thanks, guys!!
It's a valuable lesson specially the footwork information was new to me.
