You did not follow one important step with the Nitrate test you will have a false Nitrate test, You said you had read the book about 4 times dose not appear you had read it correctly..Wayne
That IR thermometer will give you only the surface temperature. It could be quite off (generally lower) if there is not much surface agitation. Just PSA, that you gotta understand it's limitations. Best fool proof thermometer is where the sensor submerges. Like a Mercury or food thermometer. Those heat sensitive chemical sticker sensors are crap. No wonder they were off by a few degrees.
learn the nitrogen cycle nitrate isn't harmful, we remove nitrates through water changes ammonia is the most toxic for your fish so just be weary of that :)
Keep reading the instructions. Vigorously shake the nitrate test fluid bottle #2 before adding to the vial. "Vigorously shake the Nitrate Test Solution #2 for at least 30 seconds. This step is extremely important to insure accuracy of test results."
My directions and chart got wet and ruined (not this kit yet API product) so your video helped. I believe I saw Sand instead of gravel and rocks in your tank. I have goldfish and gravel but I'm thinking of using just sand. What was in your decision to use sand?
I pull about 2/3 cup of water out of the tank. I use a 5ml Medicine Syringe to draw water from the 1 cup measuring cup. I keep a disposable cup as a Dump Cup. Test Contents and tube Rinse Water go in this. This then gets poured down the sink with the Tap running. Short Answer - YES, just dilute It.
Way to go - lfs has it for 38.99 - when amazon has it for 17.99 - sorry but these Asian guys at the fish stores trying to hustle the wrong people here, or they’re getting ripped off by the supplier! Great video -
Would u recommend this. I hllike u have never tested my tanks but I am curious at what the water is at. So would u reccomend this? I have a 125 cichlid amd many other tanks

Hi, if im not mistaken my api master kit says test tube should be viewed in a well lit area against the white areas of the chart. So i put my tube on the white part of chart so the white part is at back of my tube. Is that how everyone does it..?
Your ammonia test will not be accurate ....your suppose to use BOTH ammonia bottles... not just 1. Says to add 8drops from solution #1 next step is to add solution #2 . Cap then shake vigorously for 5seconds.
hmmmm test my pee............ LOL Figured I never test so might as well see what were dealing with here even though i wasnt worried. Nice to know that the fishroom never gets over 5ppm nitrate though.
And It never will the Way You Tested It. Your Procedure will ALWAYS give a FALSE Low. Have to SHAKE Bottle 2 NitrAte at least 30 Seconds BEFORE adding its 10 drops.
For the Nitrate you gotta shake the second bottle 30 seconds before adding it to the test tube, so those results are not accurate.
Right?
Looks like a fun kit. All the cool charts, chemicals and test tube vials is just what I need to feel like a scientist again back in high school.
Yes definitely a bit 9th grade chemistry
Cichlidman09 | Forrest's Cichlids I just ordered one today on ebay for 23.72 from amazing_fulfillment. He has sold 400 of these kits already.

I think you as suppose to hold the tubes against the white part of the test kit chart for proper readings
cichlid man,
it you have to shake the bottle #2 for 30 seconds, on the nitrates! other wise you will get extremely low results.
thanks a lot been in the fish keeping game for about three years and never had a test kit just ordered one on ebay wowzers really cheap
I am going to stop using the strips, going for the Master kit.
Good video!

Great kit. I've used it for a few years and I've never emptied a bottle before it expires.

You didn't test the nitrates right. bottle two needs to be shaken for 30 seconds or more vigorously. You won't have proper results.
I was thinking the same thing haha
Thanks for the vid! You supposed to vigorously shake NitrAte Bottle #2 for 30 seconds? Or I am mistaken?

Thanks I had no idea how to do this
is it safe to dumb out the water and test chemicals from the tube into your sink

Jesse Loks Ent. lucky, this kit is $80 here in australia and no cheaper online because of shipping costs :(
@CNgo2006 picked it up off amazon for around 10$ including shipping
Just did this test and got super stressed about the nitrate tests because of all the warnings XD anyways, great kit. Definitely recommend.

My friend how are you
Can you tell me how do you clean the tube after testing
Thank you
Thanks Cpatain AWESOME!!!
Great video!
Yeah a little hard to read but I like it
I can't even believe that fish tank stuff cost cheaper online. Got my overhang filter for 10 dollars and the kit for 20 dollars.
Can I ask where you got that infrared thermo and how much it cost you

it would be nice if you could show how to adjust the ph.

Hello there what’s the name of that incorrect termometer
Where can I get that infrared thermometer thanks

what's the name of the infrared thernometer?
10 drops... there are other kit that used only 3 drops on 5ml.
What about if the PH is always on 6.0, do I need to fix this PLZ let me know
6.0 is fine for fish that live in low pH waters
Lol doing 10 drops isn’t going to last 800 tests you really only need 2 drops to see colour
I asking about api not how to test temperature
Nitrate is the least harmful. You mean ammonia and nitrite which are really toxic
get to the point
I struggle with amonia
Dayum go to PetSmart they're around $15 for that same kit
not really mine was 35$
