i love this movie. im so sick of modern films, this is funny, scary, interesting and makes sense. perfect movie. its also got interesting characters and good actors, remember interesting characters?? i wish hollywood remembered movies like this and tried to be as good at what they do today as they were back then.
Hollywood has been taken over by pc liberals, thats why movies suck now. They are all just cashgrabs. Actors and actresses do quantity not quality. All the greats have retired, or self fund their own movies. It sucks. Maybe get one move a year worth watching now, if that.
I like that it's not based on a comic book or existing characters. It's a movie done well with a fun premise and they don't make movies like that anymore.
yea all I really watch are old movies now. I don't get why they forgot to write decent stories. Never in the history of movies has we ever forgotten as much as we did in the last couple decades.
-I'm scared to death. -Yeah we all are, but our brains secrete a neurotransmitter that enables us to deal with them. -I don't think I have that particular neurotransmitter.
I’ve looked endlessly for a behind the scenes of much older movies. Arachnophobia is the best one. These New Zealand spiders are really harmless and not deadly. Adding the musical score to Honey, I Shrunk the Kids to this making-of Arachnophobia documentary adds to the feel good nature of it rather than something to fear. And adding Mark Taylor as host? He was involved with both of these films.
I didn't recognize the tie-in to Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. I agree the fun of the movie took the edge of the scares. I wish they made more movies like this.
Well both movies are made by Disney, Honey I Shrunk the Kids by Disney.itself and Arachnophobia by Disney's Hollywood Pictures (I would say that this isn't a bad way to start for another film division from the mouse) and in addition, the score from ANOTHER movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit (from Touchstone Pictures, yet ANOTHER defunct Disney adult label) which just so happened to be a co-production by Amblin Entertainment which also produced THIS film which means that Steven Spielberg worked on the movie that would help kickstart the Disney Renaissance and THIS movie where Jeff Daniels and John Goodman fight off spiders (just not giant spiders).
Yes. Poor video quality and poor execution are hallmarks of this channel. :) I figure it's still better than nothing and don't want these things to get lost forever.
It’s hilarious to me that that guy that’s doing the narration mentions how I shrunk the kids because he had a brief cameo in that movie! He was one of the neighbors friends that went on the fishing trip
@@FuzzyDigitalMemories absolutely. Even though this movie scared the living hell out of me back when I saw it in the movie theater with my mom back in 1990. I was only 5 years old, but it gave me arachnophobia for life. I became obsessed and studied every spider in the world and came to the conclusion that most are completely harmless to humans except for a handful of species. The movie absolutely holds up 30 years later. Doesn't look fake at all.
This movie actually gave me arachnophobia as a kid. As an adult, it's 90% goofy, especially when I see those big dumb but harmless huntsman spiders running around, but the tense scenes like the barn ambush remind me exactly why it made me intensely afraid of spiders for 12 years.
harmless as they may be if i saw one of them in my house that huntsman would become the first arachnid to be a homeowner. when i was a kid spiders were wondrous to me but as an adult, i run screaming like a little girl when i see jumping spiders.
nice thanks for uploading this :) need new special edition put this on it and do new documentary interview most cast and how they got they roles and do audio commentary with frank marshall jeff daniels and john goodman defo have my money if that happened
This movie was SO much fun to watch as a kid! I was 10 when it was released but didn't get to watch it in theaters, for some reason. However, as soon as it came out on video, my family rented it one weekend, along with take-out pizza and other junk food. Watching it in the dark with my siblings (and our friends sleeping over) really enhanced the experience for me. I can only imagine what it was like in cinemas.
So underappreciated. I remember seeing bits and pieces of this in the early '90s. I would probably been somewhere between 4:00 and 6 years old by the time I watch this movie or at least saw parts of it. And I remember thinking it was such a terrifying movie and then as I got a little older watching it and realizing that it was a comedy as much as it was scary. Granted I was a little kid at the time but I definitely appreciate it more as an adult. It's such a great film.
Thanks for posting this. I saw this in the theater as a 12-year-old kid. I still remember the friend I saw it with. We sat in the first row and every time a spider jumped out, my friend would cuss loudly. A great flick. I always wondered how it was made.
I would rather wake up with a spider than a cockroach on me which I do so winter time I bring in some grandpappy long legs a couple other harmless spiders make sure I don't get bed bugs or cockroaches or carpenter ant's
Great movie. Just watched it again since I was a kid and it does still hold up. Was wondering how they shot it, so thank you for putting this up.
I got scared half to death by a dream catcher hanging behind me, after watching this film lol 😂

@@brycesstuff I agree with what you said. Unfortunately, we are getting used to quantity movies these days. Quality is very overlooked.
Being arachnophobic, it made me recoil

Excellent! It's too bad that the TV version hasn't surfaced. It has lots of deleted scenes in it.

Though it does have some serious cues, like when we get to 13:59 - 14:14.

I loved this movie growing up! Thanks for sharing this :)
You're welcome. We watched is again recently and it still holds up as a fun movie.
Fuzzy Digital is a name that fits. Bottom of the video has a constant fuzzy line. 9-19-2021
Yes. Poor video quality and poor execution are hallmarks of this channel. :) I figure it's still better than nothing and don't want these things to get lost forever.
I would not be able to work with spiders I have arachnophobia I am scared. Of spiders, snakes and high place
I hope you never see a spider riding a snake while standing on top of a tall building.
Back when they actually cared about making movies for entertainment.
It’s hilarious to me that that guy that’s doing the narration mentions how I shrunk the kids because he had a brief cameo in that movie! He was one of the neighbors friends that went on the fishing trip
12:51 That is the same guy who had spiders in the 2002 film “Spider-Man”
I guess he's a real life spider man
@@FuzzyDigitalMemories well he did said “I’m the Spider-Man behind Spider-Man”
What they are referring to as a Delena spider is actually a Huntsman species and I'm pretty sure Big Bob was a Goliath Bird Eating tarantula.
Either way, he was a fine actor

It's their scientific name. Delena cancerides was the species used in this film, commonly called the communal or social huntsman spider.
I have arachnophobia
This movie may not be for you then. :)
I remember watching this movie when i was a kid (I had arachnophobia before I watched this) and it scared the shit out of me.

I saw it in the theater with my cousin. I thought he was going to destroy the place because he was so worked up.
This was my movie of the year when I was 9. I was fortunate enough to see this in theatre.
Rest In Peace Julian Sands
They used the "Honey I shrunk the kids" soundtrack on here
Probably because director Frank Marshall and actor Mark Taylor were also involved with Honey, I Shrunk the Kids as well.
@@twist58 rip James Horner
lol I just started watching this then the theme seems so familiar when I first started watching it
Also that, they used Who Framed Roger Rabbit theme!
Movie spoilers: Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, King Kong, Jaws, Indiana Jones, Psycho, Tarantula, Them!, and Vertigo.

Big bob is not really a bad guy just another of those moral stories of creatures and animals being brought out their natural habitat!
Thanks...you're awesome for uploading this 😎
Funny how it's Arachnophobia but it has the soundtrack from Honey I Shrunk the Kids LOL

This is truly and undoubtfully another movie that encourages overcoming fear.
I knew I could find a behind the scenes video, this was awesome! thank you. I like how the spiders were treated as talent.

They used real huntsman spiders! They are the scariest most disgusting spiders ever!

Mannnnn I wish it was longer...
This is still the scariest movie I've ever seen in my life, I've had hard time watching it more than once 😂😳

I lost the remote. :)
Wow, I had completely forgotten about the tracking on VCRs.
3:22 See what the editor did there?

Great Classic horror film i can't wait for the reboot with james wan
