Richard Pryor I love his standup comedy. Some of his movie scenes still playing in my head from The Toy (1982) Brewster's Millions (1985) Get him together with Gene WIlder in Stir Crazy (1980) and See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989)
@6:13 OMG when the guy brings up the study from the university about cats responding to television... lil'cat just wakes up and starts listening!!! haha
Lee Majors was the star of a 1970's tv show, the six million dollar man. It was about an astronaut that was in an accident and turned into a bionic (cyborg) man and a hero that would fight for justice. The show was wildly popular. Sort if a combination of robocop and Walker Texas Ranger.
Yeah it was a pop culture icon and lead to the very successful The Bionic Woman series. These were wildy popular not mild at all. From toys to comics to cartoons, movies and novels. Currently there is a new movie in development.

My father took me to see this in the theater when it came out. I remember people singing at the end. It's become a favorite Christmas movie for me and I watch it every year. So glad that you got to see this one.
I saw Mary’s reaction to this now Trixy. This is my number 1 favorite Christmas Carol spoof movie! If you also notice the man in the background in the end Cree holding the kid on top of his shoulders that’s our Richard Donner RIP to him died last year.
Christmas lasts for 12 days (hence the song), beginning on Christmas Day, and used to wrap up 😂 with a 12th Night Party. Now it starts on November 1st and ends whenever you return/exchange the last bad gift. 😂
I've seen the Christmas displays and Halloween displays put up in stores within the same week as each other. It hasn't just been a one-off event either. They've done it multiple different years. (How long until stores have given up and they just have dedicated space for all of the holiday displays year-round?)
Lee Majors was a big star in the '70s/'80s, had like two or three tv series he was a star of. I'm surprised idea-bankrupt Hollywood hasn't tried to do a Six-Million-Dollar Man remake.
When Elliot is chasing Frank with the rifle, upon finding him he says "Hello rabbit." The saying is in reference to the cartoon character Elmer Fudd, who is constantly hunting Bugs Bunny. Hence the rifle.
what's also fun to know, is that Bill Murrays real brother is in a lot of his movies. Here he plays his dad. In Groundhogs Day, he was the mayor. i really love his voice.
As kids we only opened presents on Christmas morning, as we all got older we opened Christmas presents on Christmas Eve with extended family around. Both versions were great. Not an actual parody this is a retelling of A Christmas Carol in a modern setting and it is well crafted. I didn't see this in the theater but I heard it was a great time watching this with the rest of the audience.
Richard Pryor was a comedian/actor/writer and was very famous in the late '70s and '80s. He starred in a good number of films, including coming out in Superman III, but somewhere around 1980 he was drunk and on some drugs and he poured liquor on himself and set himself on fire. He survived that, but later, I think by the late '80s he started showing signs of multiple sclerosis. Believe it or not, this foul-mouthed comedian also had a kid's show on Saturday Mornings. I use to watch it. It was called Pryor's place and I seem to recall he use to have other stars on the show.
A Christmas Carol (1951) - Scrooge, is the best version of this.. Alistair Sim did the best version of Ebenezer Scrooge that has ever been done, likely ever will be done!
One thing that struck me about this film is that at the time they used actual phone numbers.. IE: 12:08 -- The phone number for Claire isn't a typical 555 number.. It's an actual number in NYC. I've never called it though.
Trixy, Richard Pryor was an amazing stand up comedian and actor who became addicted to freebasing, which was cocaine cooked up and what came before crack hit the streets, He caught himself on fire and got 3rd degree burns on himself which set him to become sober after, he joked about it himself so when Bill dumps the ice water on the waiter and says he thought he was Richard Pryor it was a joke referring to that incident.
Traditionally, the twelve days of Christmas run from December 25th through the evening of January 5th. January 6th being Epiphany (Theophany). In practice these dates can vary dependent on the church denomination and which calendar system is in use for religious purposes.
My favorite Christmas movie. Bill Murray and Bobcat Goldthwait in the same movie? Yes, please. I wish they'd done more together. Frank Cross' father was played by Brian Doyle-Murray, Bill's brother. He's in many of Bill's movies. Frank's brother is played by John Murray, also Bill's brother. A couple more of his brothers also appeared in the movie. Clair was played by Karen Allen, Marion in the Indiana Jones movies. The ghost of Christmas present was played by the wonderful Carol Kane. She was in The Princess Bride, Addams Family Values, and the 70s tv sitcom Taxi. The director asked Bill Murray to adlib that speech at the end.
Dimi isnt an adversity, kitten play is the gift that keeps on giving even the annoying times... when Bill Murray mentions 'party hardy' and then kitten takes said advice and starts to go hard out on the lights lol. He's gettin bigger.
Trixy darlin, Scrooged is a comedy inspiration to ""A Christmas Carol" novel So be sure you react to Jim Carrey's 2 Christmas movies 1:Dr Seuss: How The Grinch Stole Christmas on HBOMAX (Jim plays as the Grinch) 2:Disney's A Christmas Carol on Disney+ (Jim plays as Ebenezer Scrooge)
Another fine reaction, Blue. And I love your cat! You asked about the twelve days of Christmas before you started watching. That period typically starts on December 25th or 26th, and continues until January 5th or 6th. Traditional churches often celebrate the 6th as Epiphany, which commemorates the visit of the Magi(wise men) to Jesus. All of that to say: No, the 12 days of Christmas haven't started yet. I hope you enjoy the holidays!
We're in Advent right now, the time leading to Christmas. The first day of Christmas is the 25th and the 12th day is January 5th. January 6 is Epiphany when the wise men visited.
You could've put your reindeer antlers on over your headphones and saved you some anxiety. At least the kitten was having fun playing with the string of lights.

How can you forget Bill so soon Trix? He's in GHOSTBUSTERS & GROUNDHOG DAY ;D A fantastic and fun adaptation of A CHRISTMAS CAROL w/Murray at his best. FYI: During production Murray's beloved mother was dying of cancer - she passed the day of the shooting of the climactic speech - Murray's emotions are on full tilt and he nailed it in one take. Directed by Richard Donner (SUPERMAN, the LETHAL WEAPON franchise among dozens of others) and a fine ensemble are truly a holiday miracle of a film. Murray's IRL bros are in this film - older brother Brian-Doyle is his dad, his brother John and Joel are the brothers in the Christmas Present sequence. I met Karen Allen at a special screening of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and post-screening got her autograph. I had to ask how it was working w/Bill and she beamed "Just. The. Best!" Merry Christmas Trix!
The part that always gets me wasn't included in the edit. It's when Frank whispers an apology to Claire for having destroyed her sweet character and turned her into a version of himself. She turns behind to look at him, in tears and with a heartbroken, regretful voice, says "Thanks a lot, Lumpy." Something about that scene always has me cutting onions.
Glad you enjoyed it as much as we did when it came out. So much fun. Another Bill Murray movie that’s fantastic but rudely overlooked is The Man Who Knew Too Little from 1997. Seriously great film.

And here I am, laughing my ass off watching the cat in the background. 🤣
Same, he was trying to be slick stopping when she looked back. Then right back after the lights. 😆
The "I thought you were Richard Pryor reference was because Richard caught on fire freebasing crack cocaine. He was a burn victim.
