- FIC, FUSS, FLUTD, blocked cats, peeing in the tub, or peeing out of the litter box. These are all synonyms for one of the most frustrating and heart breaking health problems that cats encounter. But don't fret! If you have a kitty with one of these issues in your life, there is good news! It can usually be easily managed with medication and visits to the emergency clinic avoided!

How do you not spend every single moment of your day hugging pirate. He's just adorable. One of the most huggable cats I've ever seen.
I kinda do.
@@HelpfulVancouverVet hi
Mr. Pirate is desperately eyeing your shoulder.
Lying on my bed all the way in South Africa with my one cat kneading and purring in my hair and my other one on my chest, watching our favourite Canadian vet together. Love this informative, wholesome content!
I'm also from SA. My cat is unfortunately not that loving. She's on her happiest outside on grass during the day.
Aww
Mr. Pirate "pees like a firehose." LOL.
Mr Pirate the most handsome cat in town. All the other cats are jealous of his looks.
I’m not tryna start nothin but like......Lancelot type beautiful.....:^//
But what about thurston
And he has nice butt
Bananowy Szampan that too
I think cats could care less about looks, it's the amount of love, (personal) space - and _treats_ that matters :)
Immediately got up, walked over to my cat Picasso who was sitting on the windowsill, took his little face in my hands and said "Dr Uri says to kiss you", gave him a smooch, and returned to my laptop while Picasso watched me in slight confusion.
this man is so wholesome
He's the Bob Ross of the vet world
Vet: explains clearly and extensively a cat condition
Cameraman: records Mr Pirate for 20 minutes.
Good to see mr P looking good.
He is looking SO good :-)
@@HelpfulVancouverVet I think my cat (Lady Molly, age 6, spayed grey and black tabby) has a crush on Mr. Pirate. She was chirping and nuzzling the screen...
I was long overdue for my dose of Mr. Pirate. Thanks
This is really helpful. My cat developed crystals after we moved last year, which I accepted without question, but my cat has a history of anxiety. I'm going to ask my vet about FIC and work harder to reduce his stress.
Good call!
Mr. Pirate is so calm and laid-back I can't imagine him being stressed out
Why does my cat kick the litter out of the box like she is getting the gold medal for distance in the Olympics? That’s what I need to know from the experts! 🏆
Because that's just the way he rolls.
Helpful Vancouver Vet Thank you! I figured as much. 😆
@@Sldejo Thanks for posting the question...so does mine LoL
I say mine are digging to china lol
sldeyo Perhaps to remind you to clean his box 🙃
Also, our rental property requires that we have documentation that our cat has a vet and is up to date on her checkups, so your PSA is a reality!
My female cat (sadly no longer with us) once began peeing in odd places. Very out of character for her as she usually went outside in the garden to pee and also used a litter tray indoors too when she needed to. Turns out it was all being triggered by the anxiety of having workmen around the house, as I was having renovations carried out. Thankfully it didn’t last long, but it made me realise just how sensitive she was to changes in her environment, even if only for a few days. 💜
The doctor is very handsome, and born to be a veterinarian. Wonderful, informative and useful video.
Thank you SO much for bringing up the issue about landlords who do not allow cats because of misconception and misinformation. It is so important to know the facts. Very informative video that speaks of a very very important and common cat health issue.
you are one of the best yutubers that ever existed, thank you
Get yourself a guy who looks at you the way Mr Pirate looks at Uri
Or the way Uri looks at Mr. Pirate😄
First video of the year, I suppose? Missed seeing you and our fluffy buccaneer
Yes! First video of the year. Last year was crazy busy for me, so I hope to be able to put out more vids this year. Of course I say that every year :p.
Exception: If I've had a stressful week and forgotten to clean the litter as often as I should, my cat will pee in the tub instead. Because she has standards for her litter, and I was failing her, lol. (I know it's not a health issue as she only does it in very rare cases when I forgot about her litter for a few days)
At least she's kind enough to pee somewhere easily cleaned!
Welp mine will go for my laundry basket
I wish I had this video just a bit sooner :(
Our cat Fisher had to be taken to the emergency vet for 3 days for this exact issue just two weeks ago. It was a really really scary experience. He needed the catheters and everything just as you said, he was completely blocked. I'm so heartbroken that he had to go through that without us being able to understand what was happening and prevent it sooner. When he was peeing outside the litter box we tried looking into what was happening and nowhere mentioned FLUTD.
But I am so grateful for your tips to prevent this situation from happening again and minimize his stress.
I'm happy this video exists as a resource to help other pet owners help their cats should this happen to them.
I'm very very concerned about this problem happening again. So far he hasn't peed outside the litter box again but it still seems like he is straining from time to time. We purchased the feliway and are giving him more outdoor time to help his environment, so hopefully, that will help. Anyways, I'm very grateful for all your videos they have always been super helpful. Thank you for being this incredible resource.
""Why does my cat pee?"
"Ah, yeah, I sure hope it does."
Mr Pirate is so frekkin precious!
* _ *
I wish ANY of the vets we had, had known this. We had a tense, bitey, often very unhappy cat who spent more than half of his 17 years with this. An antianxiety medication would have changed his life!
Yay, Mr. Pirate!
I have a female cat with the problem. I try to take her on a walk every night and it seems to help. It took a long time (We got her at age 7 and 6 months later we moved so plenty of stress) but I think she is settling down now. I just resigned to the fact that ones in a while it will happen. She mostly does it in the badroom against the laundry basket.
Nice! Cat walks are fun, and a great way to de-stress a cat!
The sad thing I've noticed is how much gets put down to 'just age' by vets and owners alike. Older cats can leak on the places they sleep. In the same way doctors tell older people bladder problems are 'just age' I've seen them do this for cats. I completely agree about the importance of taking care of cat health and reducating landlords. I love the idea of tenancy agreement modifications for pet owners.
I always say "Old age isn't a disease, it just that things happen to you as you get older".
@@HelpfulVancouverVet Agreed! And lots of things that are considered 'just age' can be mitigated with better care.
Very informative from a human with neurogenic bladder. My cats saved my life !
I kissed my cats per your request.
Me too!
I clicked on your channel and was super disappointed to not see videos of your cats.
I always kiss my cat. I just natural need to me.
Autumn Doe me too
Please do a video on cat renal failure. Mine has the beginning stages.
It is definitely going to be one of the next 2-3 that I make for CTEW.
@@HelpfulVancouverVet thank you!!! I adopted a pair of Siamese last year and both of their parents are still at the shelter and are in advanced renal disease. So it's only a matter of time for me. A crapload of Siamese were pulled off a hoarder so they all have poor kidney health
Yes, please do. I lost a kitty we rescued to that, and didn't know the signs at the time that she was already really far into renal failure when we brought her inside, and wish I could have done more to ease her discomfort.
In France, an ordinary rental contract cannot prohibit someone from owning a pet. (except some kinds of dogs considered dangerous). It is a pity that this does not apply elsewhere. 🐾
That is really excellent. Viva la France!
Isabelle M I was going to add the same comment ;-)
@@HelpfulVancouverVet Merci ! And for all you do. Bisous to Mr. Pirate.
Hi, i'm a brand-new fan, I think I've watched all your videos now but maybe I've missed something - I'm concerned about Mr. Pirate not getting up on your shoulder - is he OK?
He is fantastic, thank you for asking.
Cat owners please pay attention to your cats habits, they can die from this if you do not get them help in a timely manner. Years ago I had a cat die from blockage which I would have caught if I was paying attention to what he was trying to tell me. Always keep an eye out for strange behavior.
Does mr Pirate meow?
Sometimes, but mostly he chirps.
Thank you for the message to landlords about pets. A subject close to my heart.
Could you make a video about how to take care of a cat’s teeth?
I second this!
Ah, yes, Clawdia needs to go in for a dental cleaning soon so I was going to make a vide around that. In the mean time I already have a video on how to brush your cat's teeth: ua-cam.com/video/sUdDaXMmeks/v-deo.html You should do it, if you can!
Wonderful and informative! My mistress Behemoth (praise be) has a giant crush on your voice. Thanks for the info and for the kind and caring delivery! I need to wipe cat saliva off of the screen now.
Thank you for the video. That's a really important for people to understand that everything that cat do (whatever we like it or not) has a reason.
Well that was not helpful! I took your advise and kissed my cat, and now my lipstick is covered with cat hair! ;)
Kidding aside, thanks for another amazing video! So many people like to assign bad intent to cats' actions, when almost every time it's cause by either illness or stress/understimulation.
All the best all the way from Sweden!

Yay! I asked you about inappropriate urination a while ago. I’m so glad you decided to do a video on it!
Hope it answers all your questions!
Helpful Vancouver Vet He actually doesn’t pee inappropriately anymore, HOWEVER, he has started peeing out the front flap of his litter box because he pees standing up and he sometimes doesn’t feel like turning around in his box. So, pee out the front. 🤦🏻♀️
He also was given Amitriptyline for anxiety but he would not take it in food and would get more stressed out if we tried to give it on tablet or treat form. Now we just try to make his life less stressful and concentrate on his asthma instead.
@@AM-em5gc : I had two cats that had IBS and the vet prescribed meds in tablet form. I found a pet drug store that supplied me with the meds in liquid form. I had to give them a small amount in a syringe. It worked.
Also, the vet gave me another medicine but it had to be given in pill form. He suggested I use a mortar and pistil, grind up the pill, add a few drops of water and suck it up into the syringe. That worked very well.
Of course, I had to approach them from behind, catch them unawares, and squirt the syringe into their mouths. I would follow that with a treat and it worked nicely.
I hope this information will help you give him the Amitriptyline and help his anxiety.
Thank you for posting this! My beloved cat, Spike, suffered from two bouts of blockages two months apart, about four years ago. My vet actually mentioned that it might be stress related. Though, in Spike‘s case it was stress related due to a food allergy regarding hard food with grain in it (which incidentally is known to cause crystals in some male cats). After two very scary visits to the emergency vet, we switched him to a wet grain free/organic only diet, and I’m happy to say he’s been blockage free ever since ❤️ I still ALWAYS monitor his box and urination habits, however, since it truly is all about catching it early.
I appreciate your show. I can't afford to do more monthly donations right now. Because I have 6 cats and 4 dogs and just the food and vet care cost so much. At least I know my pets are not on the streets getting diseases and getting pregnant or impregnating other animals.
That is totally ok and thank you for sharing! The beauty if crowd sourcing is that people who can afford to support my work, do (I hope) and that benefits folks like you, who care about their pets and want to do the right thing, but have limited resources.
A question for you: I had a male neutered cat who only PRETENDED to spray everywhere. No peeing, just backed up to things, lifted his tail and butt, and vibrated his butt. Really freaked me out until I realized he wasn't doing anything. I chalked it up to his being very secure and happy, and he was "marking" his territory without actually marking it. Was I far wrong? I think he was neutered a little bit later than was normal, if that counts for anything. In all other respects this cat was so chill and sweet that he might have competed with Mr. Pirate - except that he didn't like to be held, and only sometimes graced me with sitting in my lap.
Good observation! Its not uncommon for neutered males to still retain some sexual behaviors (like territorial marking) but not quite do them right. In this case, its just a cute quirk, and I think you should laugh at your cat and scratch his head.
Ohh it's not bad... my Tom is doing it too and not one drop comes out... only butt wiggling... he was a stray and got neutered as he was 4 years old... don't worry 😻
@@HelpfulVancouverVet my female cat does this too.
@@gosman949 my female dog who was neutered late squats like a normal female but lifts up one of her legs like shes standing one leg like a male.
My 8-year old cat does this when he's really happy to see me or someone else. I've had to tell friends that no, don't worry, he's not spraying anything! He's just happy. In fact, I think my younger cat (who I got at 6 weeks and had neutered at 12) has begun modeling this behavior, because sometimes he'll do it, too!
My cats don't even have a problem with peeing but I'm excited to see a new video from this channel. :)
Thank you for all that you do! 🙂
Dear Dr. Burstyn, thank you for all your lovely videos, you're amazing!
I catch myself staring at mr pirate with a huge smile and not even listening to what you’re saying 😂😂 then I rewind and listen while I smile ❤️
I wish I had a guy who looked at me with the adoration Mr. Pirate has for you. ;)
18:08 - Really great proposition for any and all landlords. Another great vid, Doc.
Thank you for this video. I'm considering fostering a cat who had had toes amputated, is seriously overweight and "pees everywhere". So I've been watching everything I can about this issue. I really want to help this approximate 8 yr old kitty your video helps a lot.
My great aunt (she’s going through the early stages of dementia) was gifted a cat by her son. He’s a pretty young indoor cat and she LOVES him. Since she’s retired and widowed this cat is her only companion for most of the day and he is SPOILED as a result. She refuses to feed him dry food since he likes it less and insists on warming up his wet food for him. If he wants table scraps she’ll let him have it. He’s even allowed in the dish drying rack. She loves this cat so much that the thought of him having to go 12 hours without food prior to getting surgery to be neutered is unfathomable. As a result, he has yet to be neutered and he pees all over the place to mark his territory. She’s use to the smell but my uncle who lives with her is driven crazy and is left to clean it up. This has nothing to do with FIC, but cats peeing everywhere reminds me of the little rascal.
Hey, thanks for sharing. Nothing wrong with wet food, and if she is concerned about fasting, she'll be happy to know that 3-4 hrs fast is more than enough for surgery and it is in his interest to get neutered as soon as possible.
Great video as always!
Cats are very clean animals and they're way easier to 'potty train' than dogs. I've fostered a few feral kittens and after just a few days, they've always learned to use the litter box on their own.
One of my male, neutered cats pees outside of the litter box, but it's not quite what one would normally think of when someone mentions it. He's an outdoor cat, for starters, and he one day just stopped peeing inside the litter box and somewhere else. No change in environment, nobody from the house left or furniture moved, not during the holidays, just from one day to the next. So we put up another litter box, except with no litter and just a 'dog toilet training pad' (those pads that have plastic underneath so as to not get the floor wet) and he uses it. Another but! Just to pee, poop ALWAYS goes next to the box, so we started putting news paper underneath it. It's been like this for years now, he's healthy and satisfied otherwise and we don't know what it could be. My mother theorizes that maybe something happened in a litter box? Another cat attacked him or something, so he has trauma from it? Maybe he just doesn't like the litter (but we did try multiple different ones, he won't accept any!)?. I mean, what we have works and it's not too much of a hassle, it's still weird though!
Thank you so much for making this video. My family had plenty of cats growing up, most of whom had inappropriate urination issues, but none of them were ever taken to the vet because "that's just what some cats do" and honestly I've never come across information stating otherwise. I've recently come into possession of one of their older cats (who previously had this issue) but he hasn't had problems since he started living with me, so I only just began to suspect that it was stress related.
Anyway, thanks again for the info! It will help me take better care of my boy and maybe it'll help me convince other people to adopt cats.
This video answered all my questions. Thank you so much! My cat has been suffering from FIC for a month. There were ups and downs. The vet prescribes Prazosin for him. I just hope that my cat will get well very soon.
Yeeey, You are back!
Thank you, helpful Vancouver vet, for the great info and thank you mr pirate for being adorable. Love this chanel!
How did I get this far in life and not know this? I love this channel.
Your guide helped me to save my cat! He got parvo at the age of 9 this autumn. He almost died, he lost 2 kgs in 1 weeks time. I had to tube feed him. Now he is back to his old self! I'm super grateful for those videos!!
Dear Dr Uri I have learnt more from watching your vlogs about cats than I ever got from my local vet. All they seemed interested in doing was selling me expensive food, antibiotics and flea treatments. Thank you , love from Sybil and Toffee ( meeow!)
Have you ever noticed any correlation between cats who have FIC and them also having stomatitis? My second cat (who just turned 1 on the 28th!) was about 7 months when I noticed him one day going repeatedly into the litter box, squatting, and barely producing anything. I had a cat in 2006 who had to be put down because he was getting blocked literally every month at the end, so I was TERRIFIED and went to the vet immediately! She told me it was cystitis, but then she also revealed to me that his gums were very red and swollen. I don't remember her exact words, but she'd apparently seen a pattern of this before and I thought it was a little strange!
Anyway, Bug is definitely a sweet little Mama's boy, and I realized he must have been reacting to me getting so angry at the neighbors for being so loud and obnoxious. It's been a lesson for me to try to remain zen, lol. We just recently went through a huge move, which I was afraid would stress him out, but he does SO much better when he's put in a carrier with his big brother during travel. No recurrences yet, but after my past experience, I never let my guard down!
No, but it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Anything painful can be stressful, and some cats are prone to hyperinflammation: gums, auto-immune diseases... maybe bladders too? Good topic of research for all you veterinary residents out there.
I love your videos and the love you have for cats!! Providing a healthy and happy environment for my cats is one of the things I try to work on constantly, thank you for helping so much with that.
Oh wow. I knew my cats had a problem with peeing everywhere before I moved out because they didn't get along with my mom's cats that stopped completely once we did, but I had no idea it may have been literally making them sick.
This is such a helpful video! My little guy, Oslo, has this problem. The last time it occurred, I was away for a week and my husband was working on remodeling our kitchen. He said that Oslo peed on our cupboard, and when I got home I realized he also urinated on my blanket. I think it was way too much environmental change at once. We are going to work on enriching and de-stressing Oslo’s environment. Thank you for making me aware of FIC.
thank you for directing part of your video to landlords. too many good cats struggle to find homes because humans are not allowed to live somewhere with them
So can cats stress each other out? As in, they don't get along with each other? We have three males, all neutered; two of them were neutered a bit late. We've been dealing with a lot of "marking" behaviors - not the usual urination at all, this is the tail straight up, shaking, and fluid IS coming out, so it's not false marking in that sense. The two older cats have been together for a long time, they are "brothers" (they get along like litter-mates, but they're different ages and not related, still, they DO get along). The youngest cat is pretty boisterous at times and often starts arguments large and small with the other two...though most of the time it seems like they have their social pecking order pretty much stabilized. And yet the marking behavior continues between the youngest and the next-youngest.
For a long time I thought they were in fact urinating, and I thought it was stress - our family is really busy pretty much all the time, there are folks coming over every week (home health nurses), and so forth. We've even tried letting the cats be outside for a few hours every day to let them romp in our fenced yard, we play with them out there with a string toy, and we've developed a really stable feeding schedule, so they have at least those events twice a day that ALWAYS happen. We also changed their diet so they are not eating only dry food, which has been a great boon to all three of them, their weight is just about perfect now and our oldest cat is feeling MUCH better for being three or four pounds lighter. Listening to your video now, I can't help but wonder - are they marking territory this way because they're...well, "fighting" each other for space within the house?
Will the Feliway still help with such an issue, if that's the actual stressor for them?
Most certainly yes!
Gotta love Mr Pirate 🏴☠️! Thank you for the educational content and for presenting it in such a compassionate and caring way. Wish you were my kitty’s vet!
This is good information. My cat has these symptoms and was tentatively diagnosed with TCC based on an ultrasound, and given 6 months to live and anti inflammatory meds. 12 months on, and she's still going strong, but if she has FIC and not TCC, then the medication will eventually kill her. FIC and anti anxiety medication was never brought up. Time for a check up I think.
Never hurts to repeat an US and it can be tricky to tell the difference between TCC and bladder walls thickened by inflammation sometimes. An endoscopic biopsy will help tell the difference but is a bit more involved than scanning. Also, if the medication you are referring to is Metacam, it will not kill your cat as long as it is given at appropriate doses, but it will also not help with FIC.
@@HelpfulVancouverVet Thank you Dr. Uri! I think she was on that under Loxicom, but is now on Predmix, which I thought I saw somewhere isn't good for long term use. Either way, she's booked in for another check-up. Certainly can't hurt to check it out!
I always love how, at first, he doesn’t know where to start or what to say. But then like 2 minutes in he becomes fluent with the stuff he wants to get across, puts on a serious face and creates the easiest to understand content for non-doctors :D
My cat is pissing even on his own bed pillow and then still sleeps and rolls in it it seems. Tho he doesn’t seem to be under much stress at all, is not an indoor cat and according to a vet doesn’t have a medical condition. His brother, before an accident, did the same when we still had him. Maybe it is a rare case of behavior or do you think it still is a medical issue?
Your videos are just the best
This video makes me think of 90% of the cases solved by Jackson Galaxy in his show.
I'm actually dealing with this right now with my male fur baby. He has made it through the pain meds and is now finishing up the sedatives. Very very helpful information!
Hope this helps get your head around what is happening, and I'm glad you have a competent vet helping you!
@@HelpfulVancouverVet It definitely does! Thank you for posting such helpful explanations! It came at a perfect time for me and my baby boy. ❤
I’ve been waiting for a video like this!! Thank you!!
If Pirate turned into a human, he would look and sound like our favorite youtube vet!
Aaaw Mr Pirate....always looking for a 'shoulder opportunity.' How adorable !
Thanks for explaining the physiology of litter box issues. I think it’s safe to assume most of the stress inducing factors have to do with a cat’s relationship to their territory. Male cats are more territorial and so another reason they have issues with the box. I was surprised to hear another person talk about how cats can get stressed and pee inappropriately when there are cats outside. If your cat is marking near outside facing walls and windows, there is likely another cat out there. They see any threats to their territory and feel the need to express with urine.
My cat loves chewing on plastic: Is that normal?
She doesn't eat it, she's just chewing it.
I don't know if I should let her continue chewing it or shop her.
Normal... yes. Healthy... maybe. Try getting your cat a variety of differently textured cat toys and perhaps she will pick one or two that she really likes and chew on random plastics less.
Mine chewed off chunks of cardboard boxes. It was like his job. He would shred entire boxes over the course of a couple of weeks. Hilarious. I let him do it if only to clean his teeth, and never got him "tough" boxes for fear of his breaking his fangs.
my cat likes to lick plastic bags from the grocery or any store. We stopped letting her do it because we heard it was harmful.
@@Custerd1 My Lady Molly is currently helping me unpack from moving by gnawing on the edges of *ALL* the cardboard boxes! Never mind what's inside them, just destroy that cardboard! I could probably rent her out as a little shredding machine! She likes chewing plastic, as well, particularly crinckly cat toys that make lots of noise. And this video has been incredibly timely, since the stress of moving has indeed been the trigger for a couple of related pee-accidents. But she's a pretty high-strung little beast, so I'd sort of expected it.
I have one cat who likes to lick certain types of plastic and another who loves packing tape. What weirdos. They're great kitties though.
Watching this video. Turning. Looking at cat that pees normally. Feeling happy because he's happy. Turn back to video. Keep watching.
Would love your thoughts on how to manage stress and how to keep an indoor kitty happy! :)
Sending this to my mom, always blame the oldest cat, but I am pretty sure the cat has something, greetings from Chile.
Thanks very much for this! My cat hasn't done any inappropriate urination, but he does have alopecia from overgrooming, apparently psychogenic. (Yes, we worked with the vet to rule out allergies, fleas, etc. It's psychogenic.) But we have a very quiet, adults-only home - the most traditionally-stressful thing that happens here is when we vaccuum every couple weeks.
But if boredom is a stressor! That puts everything in a new light.
Hello mister pirate! We have an old guy with FIC. He is a sweet, fluffy, cuddly old guy who is neutered. We've also got a young guy who is prone to major urethral blockages. We're glad you don't have these problems sir!
Brilliant video. I have taken care of over 100 cats in my time and have 23 at the moment. One young female suffers from a bad case of crystals and has actually been blocked due to severity, although, her circumstances are rare. She was shot by the neighbor twice last year and one of her front legs is damaged beyond repair and had ptsd very bad for months after. You couldn't even cough without her jumping 5 feet in the air. So getting her own space set up and security has helped along with prescription food and lots of water. If she were a male, this would have been very different as I've actually took tweezers and pulled crystals from her urethra to relieve her. It's that bad. I also have a couple of males (all desexed) that do the little bit of pee constantly all day long. It usually revolves around MY stress level. With 23 cats, there is of course a higher stress level, but they all go outside (yes, I know, they shouldn't be outside, but I became homeless a couple of years ago and ended up in a camper, so unless they all went to the pound, I have a place where they are all have a home and are taken care of, aside from a renter not wanting anyone with this many cats lol). I do also have one older female that pees and poops wherever she is. She was on prozac. She just has a very very low self esteem issue, so that's also part of it all. It's not always physical, it can be very much mental! So many cats, so many different issues, but so many owners wanting to get rid of their cat because they pee on laundry or on the carpet instead of trying to figure out WHY. This is a great video!! Thank you again!!
this happened to my cat last year, first time she got sick in her 7 years of life, i was so scared (I have bad anxiety on my own) the veterinarian we treated her with is very good with animals not that good with people lol she's had a full recovery since then no problems. this video made the situation much more clear, now I know how to prevent it. thank you!!!!
Lord I want to kiss all of them. Both r adorable! Sacred precious cottons! N always remember folks - don’t yell at ur cat or rub their nose in it when they do it. They r not doing it out of spite.
My cat doesn’t have fic, but he was hardcore outdoor cat and had to amputate a toe. He had to be held indoors for over a week . We used feliway in hopes it helped. He was quite distressed first few days. But hope it helped.
He had lots of sicknesses throughout the year. Two utis, twice pulled teeth. Because antibiotics, and him being such an outdoor cat, we couldn’t rely on him coming in every day.
He ended up actually preferring being indoors. Loves outdoor still, but still. Super cuddly too. Super sweet cat.
Yay, a new video! I don't even own a cat, let alone a pet, but I just watch these videos because I like learning about random stuff. Always useful to pass on this kind of info if it ever becomes relevant in my life though, maybe utilize if I decide to adopt a cat of my own in the future!
Looked like Mr. Pirate was thinking about jumping up onto your shoulder a few times in the video, really staring intently at that shoulder, haha. I love how chill Mr. P is in these videos!
Sadly I'm not in a situation where I can support creators on patreon at this point in my life, but I'm still very thankful you make these videos, and hope to buy some merch in the future, and maybe even further jn the future I'll be able to become a patreon supporter if these videos are still being made then, and patreon is still a thing!
Thanks again, and keep up the good work, that's including Mr. P!
omg yay new video!!
I had to move in with my granddad because he's unwell, I have 2 cats and he likes to insistently tell me about once a week that my cats are going to "pee everywhere" no matter how many times I tell him healthy cats don't do that. Next time I'm just showing him this video.
That is exactly why I made it :-).
Tell your grandad that if he's so against your cats then he can find someone else to take care of him.
The way Mr P looks at you is just so sweet. It's like me and my buddy.
You are a very admirable person. And pirate is a very fluffy adorable cat!
That my cat pees randomly when she's stressed took me a long time to realize. When that hit me was, after I broke up with my long term bf years ago. He walked around our apartment (somewhat aggressively) with the cat always right in front of him being scared and not knowing where to go. Afterwards I noticed that she peed on pants that where lying on my bed. Poor thing :(
Now the only times she does it is when my work schedule changed. She had to get used to that of course. And a few times I woke up at night hearing her pee on the carpet. Changing work schedules is not something I can do much about unfortunately. But she got used to it.
Thank you for lots of useful info, my cat suffers from the problem, she's an anxious little bird (eh, a cat!), been investigated but what seems to work best is just stress-free daily routine filled with her fav activity
Definitely educational and helpful. We don’t have this problem with our cat, but my daughter is planning to move soon and take the cat 😢 - well Major Tom is her cat. Thanks.
My cat is one of the 5 percent that has crystals.
Great insight. Mad love from Kenya.
Thanks for this video! Hope you’re having a great week!!
Thanks!
@@HelpfulVancouverVet is it okay to teach my cat to pee in the toilet ?
