A very helpful video Kris. Over the years how many times have you bought a very healthy looking palm tree, growing in a pot and wondered just what exactly is the Palm happily growing in, it becomes quite important when the time comes to pot on. Whenever I have asked staff at garden centres for advice they often seem quite clueless and say try this or that mixture, it soon becomes apparent that they are taking a guess. Its obvious that you Kris know what you are doing. Thanks for Sharing your knowledge with us it is very helpful and appreciated.
Very useful guide for people wanting to move away from using peat, as I am. I've been experimenting with variations with coco coir, leaf mold, perlite / sand and home made compost.
@@YorkshireKRIS Thank you for the reply so should be ok planted out but could need some protection in harsh winter weather? I agree with the other comment been watching you for years been really helpful and constructive to build my tropical garden.

Been meaning to say for ages, but I really enjoy your videos and find them really useful. Thanks!

Nice video pal
Can I use the same potting mix
for Archontophoenix alexandrae
Yes it'll be good for those
Thank you very much mate
How long before the potting mix breaks down and needs renewing? Can palms be root pruned in order to keep in same pot? Thanks
I don’t know why my palm trees are getting brown and slowly dying. The roots are almost hollow. The soil is moist. Where did I go wrong ?
It's really hard to say without seeing them, knowing the species and location
How hardy is the parajubaea? Will it survive in the south west zone 9b?
It's fine to minus 3/5ish but not long periods of cold. Mine will eventually head down south
