I always used to use a scourer and I'd get a sweaty brow and a hurty thumb. Then I had a moment of clarity, when the lazy part of my personality kicked in. Never looked back.

I much prefer cooking on gas to electric. Don't even get me started on microwaves!
I never thought of using a wire brush. I've been using Bar Keepers Friend and an old Brillo pad.
