I really wish people would stop calling this a boycott. There's no ideological stance being made here. Each company is looking out for their own best interest and don't care if other follow suit. We aren't boycotting swimming in volcanos we choose not to because it's harmful to our lives.
While I do agree, I also see this as a good thing. It is in the self interest of the powerful to do something genuinely good in this situation. Edit: To be clear, this isn't the case nearly enough. But in my opinion if we are to encourage the powerful to do uncompromising good, positively incentivize them to do so is an option on the table.
Elon: "Nazism is good, actually" Advertisers: "Yeah... _we're gonna go."_ Elon: "Advertisers are killing my company!" Interview Guy: "It seems like maybe they just don't like the nazi stuff?" Elon: _"THE EARTH WILL JUDGE THEM!!"_
Does Elon realize that it's his responsibility (or his CEO's) to make Twitter/X attractive to advertisers? The advertisers have no responsibility to keep Twitter/X going.
Elon is under the delusion that Twitter is somehow super-important for the future of humanity, so he feels he is owed money by everyone. He doesn't seem to realise he's just making a worse paywalled version of 4chan 😅
@@thewhitefalcon8539 Yeah but he himself here admits that the company will fail and go bankrupt without advertisers, but then says "f*** off, I hope they don't advertise". It's completely unhinged, it's like him saying "I'm done with this, let it fail, but they will blame you and not me for it" which is also very delusional. Of course everyone with a brain will be blaming the man that took a decent company and burned to the ground.
My favorite part is when the interviewer said, "You made a tweet," and Elon snapped at him at said "POST." Like, how stupid do you have to be to squander such an iconic term?
The most bizarre thing about this interview is how Muskrat is constantly glancing at the audience, because he's fully expecting standing ovation to his every word. Dude is completely untethered from reality.
In all those company events where big crowds cheer him on, those big crowds are his employees, yet he doesn't realise they are a captive audience. He turned Twitter into an echo chamber and doesn't realise it. All the changes he made, especially those related to blue checkmarks, ensures that he only gets to read replies that worship him or try to manipulate him. But every time he speak outside a controlled environment, he is blindsided. Like when he went to Dave Chappelle's show.

Sadly, both Space X and Tesla are being given free money by the USA government and its agencies to privatize development in green or spatial initiatives. That's the only reason they still exist, too.
Elon Trying to sue Disney is amongst the stupidest things he could have ever concieved of; their legal team is amongst the most fearsome on the planet.
What's so strange about Elon is that he does exactly what "woke" companies are blamed for: Putting ideology and forsing it onto people above products, services and customers. And his "Don't advertice, I don't want you" sounded very similar to the movis quote he used to answer a similar quastion some time afo (Give me monexy, give me power, I don't care). Let's see if this becomes a case of go ideological, go broke.
the reason companies are woke is to attract customers, it's called capitalism, wanting to punish companies for catering to other demo's is just an extension of their desire to exterminate those demographics
My wish for 2024 is for Elon Musk's 79% of X ownership to pay off the remaining 21% to the investors and then bankrupt the company, moving on to focus on what he does best-managing SpaceX and Tesla.
I agree with Vaush on the shaving thing. A number of years ago I started having a mental breakdown/crisis, the 1st sign IS your appearance. You forget to put your boxers on before your pants, you only wear one sock, you miss patches of hair when shaving, you don’t brush your teeth etc; all muscle memory stuff just gets waylaid. Extreme stress and anxiety can also do this. If you have loving and caring people beside you then they help you rectify these little problems. But if you’re a narcissist (like dear old Musk), then you think there is nothing wrong with you, just with everyone else.
The fact that Elon thinks it makes sense to threaten these companies who aren't legally obliged to advertise on his platform, for not advertising on his platform is insane to me Aren't the right meant to support businesses doing what they want without regulation?
Yea, didn't the right fight for "christian bakers" who don't want to make a wedding cake for gay people? I seem to remember them saying, "If I don't feel right making a wedding cake for lesbians then I don't have to." They made a big deal out of that several years ago. But now, if you choose to not advertise on twitter you're... what, evil?? 😂 elon thinks if you're a big company you HAVE to spend your advertising dollars on twitter??? You have no choice in how you spend your advertising dollars?? I mean WTF is with the disconnect in his brain?
welcome to how much power the rich think they have. It's ONLY spending power. Only spending. IT has nothing to do with the respect of others. It has nothing to do with skill or ability over those who have less money. The rich can't understand that.
He’s not just smug about twitter dying. He’s happy about it. He genuinely believes that “earth” will think that it’s not his fault and hurt the companies that “blackmailed” him.

When I first saw this I immediately thought he was a self ending risk. Being liked and held in high esteem is SO important to this guy. He's spent his whole career cultivating and curating his image, as a genius, a pioneer of industry, the "guy with the answers", who sees the future and will bend it to his will, and someone whose opinion matters. Now he's disliked, and that carefully cultivated image is evaporating. Nobody thinks he's a good manager anymore, or a genius, or even a decent person. All of his investors and shareholders are very nervous. People think he's a manchild. His ego can nae hack it. He needs to step out of the limelight, pause all his social media, do some therapy and wait for this to blow over. He won't though.
I always thought he had minder to keep him out of trouble. If so did he stop listening to the minder, or perhaps the hypothetical minder simply get sick of Elon's shit and walked out the door.
Can't exactly feel bad for him considering how utterly self inflicted his current situation is. He could've sat in his office jerking to hentai all day, and not only would Twitter be working far better but he'd probably still be considered an eccentric genius.
@@rfwillett2424If he does/ever did have a minder I think their moderating effect got outweighed by that of Elon's lickspittles a long time ago. Buying Twitter accelerated this massively as he now has a whole social media site of his sycophants who fall over themselves to tell him he's doing the right thing. No handler, no friend, no anyone could convince someone like Elon to engage in some self reflection/restraint with that number of mindless supporters cheering them on.
When I've joked in the past that the ultimate nightmare form of late stage capitalism is getting sued by a company for choosing not to buy their products I did not expect it to actually happen.
The thing with Elon is that he overestimates how much he's actually loved. When he goes out into the real world, he finds out rather quickly how much he's actually despised. Most of his fans are online, and how many of them are real people?
The poor interviewer guy probably had a drink or two right after this nightmare of an interview. Elon is beyond engaging in a conversation. You can be a free speech platform, just don't put ads on problematic accounts. The "CEO" said advertisers can choose where there ads are placed, so no amount of refreshes should amount to ads on hate speech shored up by Musk. He violated his own ToS on ads and is now arguing corporations are boycotting. Except no corporation ever boycotts anything, they pander to all groups all of the time.
He's so used to tesla event audiences and his Twitter followers responses that he's confused that a crowd of business people aren't cheering and clapping. Reality is harsh outside of the bubble. Welcome to "Earth" Elon.
And the irony is that he created both of those bubbles himself. Those audiences at his company events are usually his own employees, who will have to cheer for fear of losing their job if not. Sometimes you can very much notice that the cheering is not genuine. As for Twitter, all the changes he made, especially for blue checkmarks, ensured that he can avoid reading any critics: it's his fans (and the propagandists who try to manipulate him by posing as fans) who buy blue ckeckmarks and the algorythm puts replies from those users on top.
@Daneelro a sign of intelligence is being open to perspectives that don't match your own and at least considering them. Rich/powerful people are at a higher risk of creating a circle of yes men, but the smart ones recognize that risk and intentionally seek out well thought out dissent.

The way that Elon pauses after the "go F yourself" line and then visibly looks back at the audience is really interesting. It looks to me like he was expecting more of a reaction than he got, like the crowd not breaking out into cheers at this bold stance of his just _baffles_ him. The only good thing about Elon buying twitter, is that is causing him genuine pain, probably for the very first time in his life. Its normal behavior for grandiose narcissists that dont get what they want/think they righteously deserve. When he mentions the world will know, and mentions a judge, he actually thinks he is right in saying he 'deserves' the advertisers, and the advertisers are in the wrong, unjust and must be breaking the law. A grandiose narcist will simply shrug off your comments like its nonsense, a vulnerable narcist will sneer at you or take other forms of direct revenge, a covert narcist will at first respond neutrally or even seemingly healthy, but then take revenge behind your back, like telling others you have a mental problem instead when your not with them.

What I wonder is if Elon Musk actually believes that advertisers are somehow legally obligated to buy ad space on his website, or if he just thinks that's actually a convincing argument that will sway public opinion to his side. Either way it's asinine.
Both. I'm sure by now he just feels entitled to money. Everyone's money. State money, consumer money, advertiser money. And the right is fully onboard with the idea that advertisers somehow owe him, despite him negatively impacting their brand. They don't like freedom, in the market or anywhere else.
"Earth will know" He really thinks Twitter represents all of humanity and he's the CEO of Earth. He is actually insane and out-of-touch. Probably on drugs of some sort.
I legit think he knows there's no going back and is actually moving to tank X so that he can scapegoat the ad companies after and get something else going, whether that means a suit or just more dumb media games. I mean, he said as much. Not to mention, he's run the whole thing how he wants the whole time. I think for him it must be something like "If it can't be EXACTLY what I want it to be, I'll destroy it and make what I want out of that." Part of him probably does truly believe advertisers owe X. I just think there's another layer to his plan when it comes to whether they want to pay him in the end, that he HAS to have happened upon in his thoughts. Or maybe it was spur of the moment... like, maybe he didn't know what to say and just blurted out that blackmail crap. But even then, what's he gonna do now? Go back on it? Seems like the kind of hill he likes to stand firm on. I wonder how far he wants to go with that. It's verrrryyy interesting. Will it work out? Undoubtedly not. But this is Eloon. I hope he goes hard on the narrative that advertisers are screwing him and they sue him into the ground on slander/defamation. It's not like he can provide evidence of actual blackmail. Highly doubt it. And knowing his willingness to post misinfo, I can see him overstepping and getting advertisers double-pissed at him. For now, they are pulling away. But if he attacks them, those megacorps will have a feeding frenzy. How many other righties are gonna stick their neck out for that crusade? I think a few are game for that. It's kind of exciting. Because it's an idiotic narrative, and big finance will be quite nonplussed. Maybe enough to stomp on over. He's big, but not as big as he thinks he is. Do not slander some of the worlds largest and most prominent publicly traded corporations if you wish to hold a high position in business and finance or your luck will run out... all I can say. I swear, eventually he will be considered enough of a menace to enough big interests that nobody will want to work with him. He's an optics nightmare already. And he doesn't make money, so... ...I mean, it's not like back on his rise, when he was seen as an eccentric with revolutionary ideas and the ability to move forward on them in big ways. That has waned. It's not a sell for him to most people anymore, only his sycophants. They make him feel like he still HAS that kind of sway, when the reality is that he is actively corroding that image in the eyes of those he needs to have working with him, and in doing so is diminishing his negotiating powers with legit businesses. He's cornering himself with this crap, like Alex Jones. He can expect a long future of lawsuits and being blackballed, if this is his path. He can still make lots of cash that way, but the success is self-limiting and the toll is massive on the backswing. It could be enough to finally knock him out of legitimacy in the mainstream. He could even get ousted from tesla or spacex one day. I like it when my enemies fight and eat each other in front of me. It amuses me greatly.
Its unhinged, he is not only denying the role he has played in all this, but he's almost proud that people are responding negatively to his behaviours. Every time he says "They did it, not me, earth is backing me" he turns around and looks for other peoples reactions. He's looking for validation that he is right. He is so desperate to not be in the wrong that he will take ANY validation and run to the ends of the earth with it.
If Elon ever had one talent it was for self-promotion. (I'd ascribe his success as a business con-man less to any talent at murky financial dealings and more to extreme levels of sociopathy and lack of controls in the US financial system.) And he is undoing now what he has achieved with that talent. (Though not soon enough. He still has millions of dupes who aren't neo-Nazis but still buy into his tech Jesus stuff.)
The interviewer telling him "Earth isn't going to think they killed the company, they're going to think you killed the company" and him basically ignoring it is just amazing. God I hope he does end up suing the companies tbh, I really want to see him laughed out of the courtroom.
To be fair this is a polarizing. Yes, I def think he is the one killing the company, but people are also praising him and blaming the advertisers. If affirmation is what he is looking for, he will get it, no matter what he does.
Elon believes he can sue a company into advertising with him, as if people don't have the right to not advertise on his platform. You can't sue someone because they won't advertise on your platform. Elon is totally losing it. He's a mad billionaire. He's having a psychotic break out in the open for the entire world to see.
Honestly, Musk is a true comrade, doing his best to help the working man. Ever since he joined Twitter, there has never, ever been a bad time for an employee there to quit without it making them look good. They will still get all the credit for working behind the scenes to maintain the infrastructure one of history's most impressive technological and social powerhouses, but if you quit, for whatever reason, at pretty much whatever time, you can always say 'well, for me it crossed the line when x happened, so I handed in my notice the next day', and you will always be able to find an unassailably good reason to point to that no reasonable person could disagree with.

That unshaved patch might not be as telling as Vaush makes it out to be, but he's right in saying there's no real excuse. A relatively small group of us went on a little field trip back in high school to a news broadcast station and recorded a never-aired mock news broadcast for fun. Even for something like that, they had people look us over and apply a touch of makeup. Combed my hair too. Point is, that's how universal the ''look-over'' is. Even if it's just a rushed job and not an indicator of mental state, a patch like that could've been easily shaved off and cleaned by another person in about a minute. If it isn't a sign of a mental breakdown, it's at least a sign that he doesn't put the effort in and that he doesn't want others putting the effort in either. And that's a pretty clear sign of some level of emotional degradation.
I would go as far as to say that for anyone else this would make some sense, but we know from his previous behaviour how OBSESSED with being liked and being told hes cool and attractive apartheid clyde is we can be sure this is a sign of a breakdown because of what else we know about his behaviour and his obsession with reputation
Yeah, I thought Vaush might be reading into it a little bit much, but I forgot about the makeup teams. At the same time, I usually don't miss a patch like that, despite not using a mirror, so I get Vaush's original point, too *shrug*
Nah i think this makes sense. I mean look at what he's been doing. He's basically pulling the homelander shit with PR exept nobody likes him as a result exept nazis. I think its rather in-line that he'd tell all those people to fuck off and he himself trying to keep the looks up. After all this man believes he's one of the smartest people on the planet.

I had a five minute appearance on a morning talkshow one time, and the make-up crew not only powdered my face, but touched up my beard as well. He is 100% right. This is unhinged behaviour
Vaush is right about the makeup team. I did a couple small on-camera appearances for the WGA, tiny stuff really, not even intended for general audiences. I was surprised when the makeup people approached me. But yes: the makeup team is a normal part of any professional shoot.
Twitter will be his downfall. The guy is legit going crazy. He created the biggest echo chamber in the world for him. The more lunatic he becomes, the more Blue check accounts applaud him
I like how he doesnt even know what blackmail is. by his logic, getting fired from a job for insulting people at the company. "you think you can blackmail me with a job?"
Maybe the beard patch on its own on a non celebrity wouldn't be so wild, but in this circumstance I think Vaush is right there's a lot more factors involved that make it more of an indicator.
I've seen that level of entitlement only in 14y.o. and younger rich fucks or 45 y.o. and older rich Karens never have I seen it in a bolding-ass 50 something male no matter how dire, the worst mid-life crisis has got nothing on this dude

Y'all I really can't overstate how big of a deal the patchy shave is -- there are teams of people who are paid to make sure that everybody looks good in front of a camera. There was someone whose job it was was to put makeup on Elon before that interview, and they would not have allowed him to go on like that. The only POSSIBLE conclusion is that he threw a tantrum and scared the makeup team off.
I imagine he had the exact same kind of fantasy scenario running through his head moments before he said that as he did when he walked on stage with Dave Chappelle. Elon is quite the imaginative fellow but it turns out reality is often disappointing! 😆

When he bought Twitter, I was actually overjoyed because I thought it was the perfect vehicle for destroying both a crap social media platform and himself. He has exceeded my expectations. I'm just wondering if he or Trump is going to implode first.
A note of caution: both of those implosions might take a very long time, and a lot of damage done in the process (like ending US democracy). Both of them are third-rate con-men with a following of dupes in the millions, and the key feature of a good mark is _not_ naivety to fall for cons but having too much pride to admit a mistake. I live in a country that has been taken over by a similar con-man (can you guess it?), and, although he has made literal 180-debree-turns on several major issues and has been more corrupt than all of his predecessors combined, his army of dupes have kept the faith for over a decade.
Trump appears to be running Truth Social better than Elson, he's losing less money in any event and even in his senility Trump doesn't abuse advertisers on his platform. How is Trump a better businessman than Elson?

I'm STILL laughing a the interviewer's voice going up an octave at "you DON'T want them to advertise?" - ahahah he wasn't ready for the craziness. These journalists really believed Musk had a plan.
This is a prime example of someone who is surrounded my yes men all day long. On top of that, he's created a culture bubble for himself as well with Twitter and the people on it. He has the control over who is on the platform and he's been allowing certain people on while banning others. It creates a bubble people can mistake for reality. The whole reality this exposes is this is Elon. This is exactly how he acts towards staff. We've seen a glimpse of him firing staff for rediculous reasons. Mostly because they didn't fully support him or evem contradicted him. Also, he's so used to the extreme discusions taking place on Twitter now, that he's losing his understanding of normal societal norms. To him, he has the impression that a large percentage of people would agree with his outburst and side with him, because that is how discussions likely go a lot of times on Twitter now. To him, a huge percentage of Twitter supports him, and he spends so much time there, it feels like that percentage will translate to the rest ot the world. The whole right wing has this problem. All the right wing news and the online personalities keeping echoing ever more extreme views, and those sources are the ones the leadership watch. As such, the right wing has ended up in their own cultural bubble. They actually trick themselves that abortion and book bans will be popular, because they are viewed so popularly from within their bubble. The problem is when they bring these ideas outside the echo chamber and try to make these laws that apply to everyone. It is then that they are shocked by just how disconnecter they've become. In the old days, there was a term for this. The emperor has no clothes. In this interview, people are being forced to acknowledge that Elon has no clothes. The same is becoming ever more true for the right wing. Their cultural bubbles are convincing them that their inner most detestable views and traits are a lot more popular than they really are and they are getting rude awakenings when they parade them in public for everyone to see.
Not only a problem of the right sadly. Leftwing or feminists. They do the right wing completely wrong. It's so horrible to see good ideas not getting double checked by critical minds, but the bad ideas not only slipping through, but they're even enforced through echo chambers
"Let me get this straight, you agreed with nazis on twiter, and you think advertisers should stay on the platform?" "Yes I do and I'm tired of pretenting they shouldn't."

The only good thing about Elon buying twitter, is that is causing him genuine pain, probably for the very first time in his life. The moment something in his immediate surroundings didn't tailor to his ego, the moment he was not prized by virtue of being him and instead had to face criticism for doing a terrible job, the moment he actually had to face stress because something didn't go how he expected it, he broke down. Weak. Pathetic.
If he hadn’t been damaged and in constant need of acknowledgment he would‘ve quit years ago.
Some of you folks are actually weird and pathetic. You’re on the internet living through this medium, calling the most powerful man on the planet weak.
This is true. His extreme frustration is about something profound going very much against his interests; his limited application of rationality results from his frustration intersecting with his lack of practical social presence.

Since narcisism is a coping mechanism (like most mental problems), it will get worse when he is under stress, especially if his vulnerable self is exposed or threatened.
Yes me and my wife had to deal with a narcissist. The damage she did as she has narcissist rage when her colours where shown was immense. They are truly horrible peaple and unlike psychopaths are useually really dumb and predictable.
@@chagadiel I do not think most narcissists are dumb, but they are usually not as smart as they think they are 😅. Also they are as horrible as any other person with mental issues. In the end its a coping mechanism they developed, which is particularly hard to get rid of. Narcissism in particular is hard because most of them simply cannot see it, or accept it, as not seeing it is a manifestation of their narcisme. Telling them they have an issue will only trigger their vulnerable self and cause a greater narcissistic reaction.

Its entitlement. Elon is a spoiled yuppie brat. Proof you can’t buy a personality.
Both. I'm sure by now he just feels entitled to money. Everyone's money. State money, consumer money, advertiser money.
And the right is fully onboard with the idea that advertisers somehow owe him, despite him negatively impacting their brand. They don't like freedom, in the market or anywhere else.
"Earth will know"
He really thinks Twitter represents all of humanity and he's the CEO of Earth. He is actually insane and out-of-touch. Probably on drugs of some sort.
He‘s an incel, but for advertisers.

It's funny that it turned into such a big argument, it's 100% correct. I have a crappy mirror setup so I miss a spot sometimes, but it's, like, a 10th of that size and I always notice after the fact and fix it up.
Nah, come on. It's pretty ridiculous to miss a big spot like that while shaving, but it isn't evidence of insanity. I think Musk is pretty strung out right now, but missing a big patch while shaving isn't some holy shit smoking gun ffs. Vaush is just obsessed with fashion, looks and optics at the moment. He gets carried away.
@@billhicks8smoking gun for the shaving *alone* is a little much, but combined with all the other evidence and context yeah, musk is much more than “strung out” rn
Yes.
"Oh y-yuh? Tell it to Errrth."
They’ve both imploded, this is just the out-going waves of radiation
Trump appears to be running Truth Social better than Elson, he's losing less money in any event and even in his senility Trump doesn't abuse advertisers on his platform. How is Trump a better businessman than Elson?
I do feel for the employees. A coworker's wife worked for Twitter. She didn't get sacked, but her job was made so unmanageably hard that she left. Apparently most of the workforce think he's a petulant childish monster (though admittedly the source is biased)
Twitter is irreplaceable for getting live news about political events near you, though. There's no other platform where you can instantly get information about something important happening.
He said Earth so many times I'm starting to think he's an alien😂
People jumped the gun on dunking on mark zucc
It's part of his wannabe Carl Sagan act
"The Pale Blue Dot will remember who killed X!" Truly inspirational words right up there with "I have a dream!"
@@manjackson2772 carl sagan's non-existing ghost is rattling up in the non-existing after-life rn
fr man, musk was probably the type of guy Sagan hated the most: the willful ignorant
Wait until the mothership hears about this advertiser boycott
Elon thinks advertizers pulling out is blackmail... so he's going to sue them to force them to advertise on twitter? Isn't that blackmail?
You can tell the difference between an Elon fan and a bot, the bot doesn't sound as stupid
An, admittedly, very smart person programmed a bot. Elon fans have no such advantage
I would have loved to have a look at Linda Yaccarino in the crowd, Her entire job was to bring in advertisers and here is the owner saying FU
He's gotta run her off to replace her with George Santos
She was put in the position to fail. It's called the glass cliff. I recommend googling it. Another symptom of our patriarchal system.
I agree with your comments, but your username is only half as good as mine :)
"Let me get this straight, you agreed with nazis on twiter, and you think advertisers should stay on the platform?"
"Yes I do and I'm tired of pretenting they shouldn't."
"For my next trick, I'm going to make this social network dissapear!"
He finally has his Howard Hughes moment, but in public in front of caremas.
A billionaire believing that he is entitled to advertising.
