I learned on a Motorcycle with that motor, and unrestricted it'd be running 6-7HP depending on stock carburetor. With attention, it'd get 10 HP. My Bike would do 62 MPH on flat ground, which was enough to go on 200 mile trips and climb the tallest mountain in my state. It's crap compared to new motors, but seeing its been around since the 1950's, its not horrible either.
They put on the rims on the wrong side to, so the tyres facing the wrong way.

The small one is not reving up even high enough to hit the governor. Needs carb adjustment.

AI yeah I got a small quad like for really cheap that and put a carb and some stuff and its actually ok
No adjustments on the original carb need after market carb
The 300ex needed a rider mod. I rode one everywhere when I was a teenager. It wasn’t as fast as 400s and 450s but would do everything
With a little work the 300EX will outrun the 400, and it has reverse.
That's what I've been commenting. If driven better, that Honda should've passed all these tests with flying colors. I have a Raptor 350 that gets driven through way worse just leaving my house on my way to the trails. They could all benefit from a little off-road practice actually. They stayed seated a lot more than they should've and they also should've went into these obstacles with way more speed.

@@BoomtasticRacing later in life my 300ex had a 352 poke and stroke done by 4 stroke tech. Ported head, 400ex carb, 400ex front suspension mod (new shock bracket) and a 15th sprocket. She was a screamer! It would out run 400s then. Would not catch a 450 though.
I don't like the 450s I do not like the power band.

the little green bike be like: I skipped like 3 challenges and won. The honda be like: I defeated almost all of them and could have won all of them... but didn't get a fair chance because it went through a pool
i think the coolman is better in terms of weight distribution so it doesent get stuck, and also has more space for people and other things.
but performance wise, the honda won easily

Gas Tachs that’s still very little. I’ve owned several quads and riden others, like my buddy’s nephew’ Suzuki 80 and Suzuki 100. They all had more torque than either of those Amazon bikes. It’s somewhat surprising that they don’t even appear to be able to spin the tires, when they are up against something.
I had a quad like that and yes it rips (only in reverse)

@@emilyrollins507 normally the directional tread pattern points forward on any off-road tire. It helps clear the tires of mud.

I bought my daughter a China 125 quad and the things been a blast. It even has remote start. I enjoy seeing how many laps around the house I can do on 2 wheels

Yes they are reliable, however I would say the Yamaha wr250f over just about any other dualsport. Awesome for dirt and you can do a simple convert to SUMO for the road. :D

@@DeadsetYT my first bike was a wr400f. It was a beast, but waaay too much power for what I wanted. Ended up selling it and buying a Honda crf250f. Dang thing is a mountain goat that goes anywhere.
Moral of the story is spend 20$ on an adjustable carb from Amazon out the gate and change the oils as recommended.... Name brands for 2000$+ more to get that, are meaning-less

A cheap Chinese dirt bike would've performed about the same as the Chinese quads. In fact, they might do better since they would be lighter and not need as much power to move the rider. A lot of the failures in this video had to do with how they were driven. They obviously don't have much experience on offroad power vehicles. It was a fun video though and I think that was the point.
RS7JR the bikes also have gears most of the times, they can be a 110 and be semi automatic and be a lot better than these quads.

Something that could be cool is doing some upgrades to the Amazon quads and do the tests again. I hear a lot of people say a china bike with carb and exhaust swaps are "as good" as a Honda/ Japan bike.

Its actually the lack of actual gears on the china atv's. The "automatic" tranny is actually only 1 gear. Which makes hill climbs impossible. Upgrade the engine tranny combo for $200 to have 3 forward gears and reverse. Then it can climb any hill possible for the cc to rider weight ratio

I've had almost a dozen 300EXs from mild to wild and it would go almost anywhere and do almost anything that you could expect from something that's 2wd only, they were all excellent trail machines

leetlebob most quads don’t have a clutch. Nowadays if someone was to hop on a bike they would stall or wheels it and wreck. Not saying it is hard but takes a little bit of practice.

Its strange i drove a Chinese Loncin 110cc (semi) manual ATV for like 10 years and it had tons more power than those. It held trough some insane tortures and never broke like yours. PS: By the way i swapped the engine for a Honda 150cc and the original Loncin 110cc still works after going trough hell and back(the only thing i changed for those years was the starter after 8 years and the gear of the reverse after 6 years).

Those little Chinese quads have no power, they’re meant for a 10 year old anyway. Probably 100lbs max is all they could handle.

The EPA is to thank for how bad those Chinese quads suck. They are all tuned way too lean. If they could legally burn the amount of gas they needed to maintain decent torque they would be slaying it. Up jet, set the needle on a high position, make sure the air filter and exhaust aren't too restrictive, and possibly add a bigger rear sprocket. 100 cc is plenty of power if it is actually burning fuel the way it is supposed to and not on starvation mode.
What I learned from this video: never let Caleb assemble a vehicle that you want to ride
I feel like Caleb became a mad man after he fixed his quad, just started SENDIN IT
The moral of the story is to buy a dirtbike. Even my PW80 would destroy these things. :D

*A lot were so bad, Amazon only carries a couple models now.* Don't let that dismay people from buying a Chinese 4-wheeler.
*I've rolled mine more than once and brutally so, as well as a handful of wipeouts, lots of snow etc. and it's never gonna stop going.* I've also seen people crash them evil kinevil style but without anyone on them, and they keep going.
*You have to do a lot of research not to get burned.*
I have a 230cc that eats through 4 gears, is topping out at 50mph and could eat right through 2 more.

as others have said, the reason you spend more on a name brand is longevity. even if both amazon quads passed all these tests with flying colors, it wouldn't matter because you know the name brand quad is going to still be running when your grandkids are riding it. modern engines are practically immortal, when built by a respectable manufacturer.

Says it all, the Honda two decades old but still the superior machine and you can still get the parts. If you don't throw it off a cliff or set fire to it or put honey in the engine it will still be running in another 20 years!
The reality is the bikes will keep getting older and you'll see less of them soon raptor 350 and 400x's will be the cheap starter full-size quads

I am kinda mad that the most expensive quad HAD THAT MANY ISSUES. I have a 2003 Raptor and the only repair I did to it so far was a new carb.
