Is this the hypnotic eqivalent of the "martial arts masters" with subjects who fly across the room when the "masters energy karate chop" is levied upon them? Like Steven Seagal sending scores of attackers flying with a flick of the wrist?
There are definitely similarities in that both work with belief, expectation and congruency. This one has the leverage of pattern interruption which makes the transition easier.
I think milton didn't want to interrupt the pattern. He wanted to confuse the person by ambiguous touches and by not completing the handshake pattern. When he notices confusion then he used his gaze to confuse more by looking through the eyes. when the person is completely confused then milton used nonverbal commands to put the person into sleep or trance. Confuse, then confuse more, then suggest to sleep.
I am reading your book, and you are light years ahead of everyone, 3 questions? Does the subconcious reason? .... and the conscious intervenes and wakes you up, if you dont like a suggestion, but how come it alows other thing that might be detremental to you? ........ Finally, this question really upsets other hypnotist, but since you are more scientific minded, i am hoping for a more clear answer, what is going on psycologically under mesmerism?
The adaptive unconscious is processing millions of bits of information every minute. I think you might want to read some of the cool books on the subject like “Before you know it” “Incognito” and “Subliminal: how your unconscious rules your behavior “ for a more updated view on the subject. With that being said, you have so many unconscious biases, heuristics and filters that tend dictate more than we think. So, while we create habituated patterns through repetition, our beliefs, Neuro associations and experience tend to filter in ways that may seem problematic.
Free wont's ^.^ thank you ill definately will, after reading your books, very educational shit that's made up ^.^ do you remember the dress that some people saw golden others white with blue, .... depending on the dominant part of the brain you work with.... then covering one nostril, to stimulate the opposite sphere of the brain, would then help you see it the other color right? .... the visualisation tecnique were you spin your waist imagining your a buggs bunny cartoon, you could use that for physical therapies right? Arm, legs, ? ..... the mentalism trick where they loosen up their arm when they point at the place something is hidden, would it work, if you lost your keys? Would your subconcious make your arms loose when pointing to the direcction it is at?
''I dont know how you relax but i know you can'' I really really loved that one.
Hi Melissa. I love your style of teaching. Thank you
Wow, this is so much fun! I’d love to experience this in person!

I think you’re right that confusion and ambiguity was definitely in the mix.
I feel like it's the same basic principle. I can't imagine "pattern interrupts" and "confusion" not being analogous, separated only by semantics.
thank you Melissa, emf/emr is hypnotic ?
