I rarely see people out with the expensive brand products. You can build as good as well much cheaper without corner cutting involved.
My first AR-15 was a Radical Firearms ‘RF-15’ and I have sent thousands of rounds through it without any issues whatsoever. The only time it’s ever failed to feed was when I used some reloads that were really cheap at my local range. The rifle cost me $475 brand-new. Just because it’s cheap doesn’t mean it’s junk. And you can be harder on a rifle that costs $500 than you probably would with one that costs four figures, like a $2,000+ Daniel Defense. You’d probably be more willing to train in lousy conditions with a $500 AR than you would with one that costs four times that, which I think can help you become a better shooter.
Never forget that certain people say requiring a 15 dollar ID to vote is putting a price on a constitutional right. But a FOID or a special tax on guns or ammo doesn't count to them. Poor people are priced out of self defense, and often they live in places where they need it more than anyone
I built a friend of mine an almost identical rifle from PSA. Put an sig red dot that was on sale on top of it and an Amazon sling and he is good to go. Took him out and showed him how to use it and he put 100ish rounds through it no problem. It’s his home defense rifle and for that purpose it’s great. I was very impressed at the quality for the cost.
Wow a whole hundred rounds? Amazing. That's like judging the longevity of a car by running it until its first oil change and then putting it in the garage and never driving it again.
I went with the PSA Sabre, got a quality upper for $450, and then a Blem lower with Geissele SSA-E trigger for $325. So total $775 for a solid AR-15 and I also got a Aimpoint Pro and Streamlight ProTac HL-X, so I went for the best of the budget options, I gave me a little bit extra to spend on ammo and a Rifle 1 class. Love what PSA is doing and I hope they continue to offer quality options and really affordable prices.
The cheapest geissele is a lot better than their 2 stage nickle boron, but I still prefer those to a standard milspec. If you dont care about triggers, may not be worth. I dont think their 300 dollar triggers are likely worth it, but the G2S is an awesome trigger at a decent price.

The 5.56 as a “wounding round” is nothing to sniff at. A wounded enemy very often doesn’t want to risk you getting another and better shot in. Which you will if he’s hobbling around. A badly wounded enemy will need 1-2 guys to help him - and presto! You’ve taken 2-3 guys out of the fight with one shot. God help them all if they’re in the open like that last scene in _Full Metal Jacket._
I watched the TFB TV build off between James Reeves and Hop a while ago. The objective was to build the best rifle under $1250. I really liked that video, but most importantly it got me thinking. How much "stuff" can you get for that money? On PSA for about $600 you can buy a lower with magpul furniture with a CTR stock, a railed upper, a nickel boron two stage trigger and a nickel boron BCG. On Battlehawk Armory for $370 you can buy a magpil ms1 sling with 2 qd swivels, an armaspec ambi safety and charging handle, a stramlight protac long gun 2 kit and a stramlight offset gun mount; magpul rail covers, hand stop and MBUS, and even an H buffer. On Defence Depot for $271 you can buy a holosun HS403R and HM3X magnifier. Overall you can make a really "complete" build with even attention to ergonomics for less than $1300. Then you can buy a nice cleaning kit, a 500 box of 5.56 and 5-6 magpul magazines and you are STILL UNDER 2k if you look for some deals! Honestly you could spend 2k for just the rifle, but for MOST people i think your first experience should be the PSA path.

Still gets to me as a guy who has to save and work HARD for something that nice. And this is a couple years after they stole a (very sentimental) Mossberg 500 from me as well. I'm glad these cheap but effective type rifles are out there, I know I'll likely not be able to save up for what I had back then again.
PSA is just clowning on modern gun manufacturers. A higher price doesn’t always mean better quality. If this was a BCM or Knights y’all would be creaming your jorts
4:49 I think thats an FRT trigger, although the lower has a little bit of tape to make it seem like it has an auto sear. The anti-walk trigger pins look like the rarebreed/WOT pins and he only takes the rifle off safe instead of going to semi-auto. If it was an RDIAS he wouldnt need the tape. Thanks for reading my ted talk
ON top of that, notice how the tape is taped snuggly against the receiver, if it was a "third pin" it would show the outline of that pin through the tape as in we would be able to see it. no matter how thick the tape is you would see something like a bump or hump or something. or maybe im blind idk

As an (but not the) AK guy, I’ve often wondered about what the real difference between lower-end and higher-end ARs are. I know there are differences, but people just generally speak about “this is better quality than that” and I don’t really know what that all entail. I can assume the barrels and maybe the triggers are different, but what else? When looking at high-end vs low-end AKs, I know to look for differences in shape and build of the trunnions and BCG, (all the cast vs milled vs forged stuff), side rails, what rear trunnion and therefore what stock attachment system is used (tang or no tang, etc), the quality of the rivets, the headspace, whether or not the sights are canted, etc. But I’m completely in the dark when it comes to what to look for on ARs. From what I know, (since there is no separate chamber, just a barrel extension), the whole point of the AR originally is that as long as you get a good barrel and BCG, the rest of the gun (minus the trigger group, springs, etc.) can be made out of plastic and work just fine.
I’ve had zero issues with standard AR-15 uppers and lowers from PSA (the KS-47 is another story). Also have a 6.8 SPC from Radical Firearms and I use that for hunting as it is 1-1.5 MOA with 110 gr bullets at 200 yards and it was $440 on sale.
I have DDs, LWRCs, and Radians…I also have a few PSAs. There are parts you can change out to make them feel a lot better. but I find myself grabbing one of my PSAs every range trip or shooting sessions. Is it because I don’t care if I break it? Or because It’s utilitarian? I don’t know. I’m my experience with the higher count PSAs I have they are solid rifles that hold up well and (with good, consistent training) will put rounds where you want them
All you need to change out to make it inexpensive AR 15 feel expensive is… The stock (anything magpul is decent for under 60 bucks) The charging handle (radian, makes a good charging handle for around $80) The buffer (h2 everything! .. because that’s what I like) And the trigger (Geissele g2s can be found for under $200) I have a DPMS rifle that I spent $550 on And another $400 worth of upgrades not including optics overtime and it shoots soft and flat.
Radical arms has a bunch of full length handguard ARs for $380 before shipping and tax. I've shot one crate of 1000 through it without a jam so far. Highly recommend for a budget.
PSA has some crazy prices, nabbed a 1X8X24 scope with a mount and a few rounds of 55gr for roughly half the retail of the scope alone. 🤑 Keep eyeing the blem kits/rifles, if nothing else to have extras I don't have to worry about getting banged up.
Colt has been supplying the US military with M4s for about $600. Many of you would pay 10x that for the same rifle. I am just fine with my $600 PSA AR.
You want to quiet down that buffer spring? Easy, no need to buy silent buffer BS, just grab a can of Mobile 1 authentic grease from your local auto parts store, now slather the buffer spring with it, reinstall. Tada! No more secondary resonance. Will feel smoother most of the time when charging as well this is the same grease a lot of M1 Garand guys use btw.

I have that same upper on my diamondback lower and have had zero issues or malfunctions with it
That mag dump and sound reminded me of Val Kilmer in that scene from "Heat"
I have DDs, LWRCs, and Radians…I also have a few PSAs. There are parts you can change out to make them feel a lot better. but I find myself grabbing one of my PSAs every range trip or shooting sessions. Is it because I don’t care if I break it? Or because It’s utilitarian? I don’t know. I’m my experience with the higher count PSAs I have they are solid rifles that hold up well and (with good, consistent training) will put rounds where you want them
Holy shit dude you unlocked a core memory with those M&P pmags lol
All you need to change out to make it inexpensive AR 15 feel expensive is…
The stock (anything magpul is decent for under 60 bucks)
The charging handle (radian, makes a good charging handle for around $80)
The buffer (h2 everything! .. because that’s what I like)
And the trigger
(Geissele g2s can be found for under $200)
I have a DPMS rifle that I spent $550 on And another $400 worth of upgrades not including optics overtime and it shoots soft and flat.
My psak47 had some issues but they were quick to fix and shipped it back to me with some bonus mags back in the day. Still runs.
11:11 Optic looks like it is hanging on for dear life 😭
Colt has been supplying the US military with M4s for about $600. Many of you would pay 10x that for the same rifle. I am just fine with my $600 PSA AR.
I've never heard of Americana Pipedream. They are within driving distance. What a small world.
Got the $489 blem because I wanted to find out what it is like. Cheaper than a pistol. So far it is a 2 moa gun and has gone bang every time.
Especially with ammo and everything else going up. It maters more having something that works rather than having something to show off.
I have a blem PSA AR as well as many other PSA products and love them!
"The Great Dodgeball Match" is now my favorite term for a gunfight.
'Cattywompass prone':
A condition caused by refusal to use a 20 round magazine and keep your optic in the same zip code as your bore axis..
As someone once told me “if you can’t shoot with a cheap gun then you can’t shoot a gucci gun” so you better hit the practice range.
I have several psa items and for a new guy starting out a PSA 500$ rifle is a great learning platform. If you're low on cash you can buy a part at a time to swap out and see if you like it or not, but mine have all ran great.
Really love the MDE dinner party drop at the beginning
1:39 Damn! Fer a second I thought I was watching one of "Daddy Plaid's" (aka Garand Thumb) videos!
I just got my psa jakl on Friday. Only shot it maybe 50 times and took it home and taped it up and painted it. My gun shop ordered me a black one for some reason in 14.5 which is fine I do love that length. Can’t wait to see how good it does but my go to is my urgi. Spending money on a decent optic soon…
That random Sam Hyde clip caught me off guard lmao
