- Multi-Species Freshwater Fishing Using Shrimp As Bait - Heavily Polluted River - Trinidad, Caribbean
#freshwaterfishing #riverfishing #trinidadandtobago
Well guys, after a whole month of not fishing, I had no choice but to go and throw a line. Now it may not be what you think...I had a very good reason to do so...And well although it didn't work out exactly as I hoped, it was still a very interesting morning!
I caught four different species of fish in this freshwater river, using saltwater shrimp as bait...who would have thought?!?
Hope you guys enjoyed this video. Please SHARE it if you did. Thanks for watching! Fish on!

Just saw what you called a loach, it's from a completely different family. Its actually a gold spot pike cichlid.
Yea bro...I did mention its a pike cichlid...We have a couple local names like loach and sweetwater boshay and meelay....lol...We have a lot of names for many fish! Thanks for the heads up!
Appreciate the content under the current circumstances! Shout out Snook Master, Zee and man like Bushman Tommy 🇹🇹🇬🇧

I've been fishing the local storm drains myself.. lol.. green sunfish, bluegill and various hybrid sunfish, a few yellow bullheads, a buddy caught a crappie, and I have seen some bass, though not too many.. good to see you out!
Yea man...Any chance we get, we have to make a try...Glad you getting out there as well! Never know when you can find a nice 2 lb largie!!! Fish on!
Hi KOSm that was a nice treat, you think the bass that don't eat shrimp are vegans lol.Be careful stay safe.
LOL...They don't eat shrimp...But only fish!!! Thanks as always.
Those sardines are not actually river sardines but two spotted Astyanax, the difference is the river or mountain sardine has yellow instead of red on the tail, no spots and are a little smaller in size, those two species get mix up and look quite similar but there siz and behavior is different,
Stay safe, fish on.
Astyanax bimaculatus or mexicanus?
Thanks for the info bro....Much appreciated...But in general all are referred to as "sardines" locally...There are quite a few different types.
Triniscaper it's Astyanax bimaculatus (Two spotted astyanax)
Nice Cosky KoS.......the real size to fry ! Sardine likes flour. Your can use tiny balls (to fit their mouths) of the soft insides of sada roti or Kiss bread as bait. Affix it on the point of your hook. Or.....if you have a net throw crumbs, crushed Crix, etc for the sardines. As they start feeding, cast the net !
Thanks man! Just I am not eating anything from that river! And yes, that's exactly what I do to catch the sardines when throwing net...Crix or stale bread...
Desperate times calls for desperate measures😂 nice video bro! Fish on!
You got that right! lol...Fish on!
Hi my name is Avery and I live in Freeport I catch sardines five times bigger than what you catch with cork lines and a bamboo Pole the river also has a big catfish that you can accidentally hook into but they taste really good if you know how to cook them.
That's awesome! Good job.
Looked like fun bro I didn't even know Trinidad had a type of pike, all I've been catching is acara and Wolffish (dying inside) lol fish on
Definitely was fun bro! Small fish, but just getting to catch something was very enjoyable! Those pike cichlids are usually found in freshwater...More in the nothern parts of Trini...They are beautiful fish! And at least you catching something man! lol Fish on!
Nice bro ,started to watch ozark ,its good
Nice man!
try by maraval river by fatima college take your net to catch river guppies or baby mullet
Yes...I have to try...Just a lil far too go...Right now! Once the quarantine is lifted..Will try there.
Would you say this small rod good for general freshwater fishing?
Definitely...It is a really nice rod for micro fishing!
This spot got some fish i dont see often in the East like the Water Mal Pike Cichlid .. i really want some river sardines i think they'll make a great pet in a nice shoal of six btw those Water Mals is the biggest i've seen
This river actually has a decent amount of the Pikes...Sardines would look great in an aquarium...Like a school of piranhas! I am hoping to set up a good local tank soon!
Why didn't you throw the cast net
Too much rubbish to throw it there bro...Did not want to take the chance of it sticking...
Kos, fishing for your fish may not be considered essential by the authorities, but fish on!
That is as essential as it gets bro! lol Fish on!
Adesh
Where is that river located
Aranguez
Yow kos I was looking for those sweet water boche for a while to put in my tank and can’t seem to get dem anywhere if u go again and u catch anymore could u keep them I just want 2
Yo bro! Yea...They are some good looking fish...If I get any more...will try to link you...
Great vid as usual Kos. Just some info guys, I kept those pike cichlids in my aquarium once, they will eat any small fish and if you're just keeping two they get really aggressive towards each other. The dominant fish will harass the other to the point of death. It might be better if they are kept in a bigger group to spread out the aggression.
I could of come and meet you but yk is corona my dad have a garden round that area ent that is aranguez river
Ahhh okay...Cool man...A next time!
Where do you get peacock bass in trini
From a place called Caribbean Bettas.
@@KoSMTT ok will check
Hey bro are there peacock bass in trinidad's waters? I heard they considered invasive but was wondering can they even really thrive in our waters?
Nah bro...We don't have them locally...I think that they would thrive in our local waters...Wish we had them!
Which part there is
Aranguez River.
bro what's the best bait for wabeen?
Live sardine bro.
Or shangi it's like and eel wabeen love that and make plenty noise
Hi kosm.i'm a hobbyist of hook fishing.can you please help me out with some safe location where i can enjoy and relieve some stress?
Hey man, although no where is 100% safe these days....I can try....Which area are you from?
@@KoSMTTthanks for your reply. i'm from la romain, but i have transportation.
Sardines is rare in my rivers
They can be found in most fresh water rivers in Trinidad.
What size rod is that and how much is one?
Ammm...About a 3ft rod. Mankee's had them for around $130
Wha gwan bredren,i saw dat video in florida where u caught dat massive red fish. Next time u in florida fishing call me before u release keepers like dat big red lol
Lol...That wasn't a keeper bro! It was too big! The limit is between 18 to 27"...lol
@@KoSMTT if nobody is there to check ,it's a keeper just like d tree that fell in d forest if no one is around to hear it,does it make a sound. only kidding bredda, rules r the rules that is why u caught that big one....lol
I'm building a pond so could anyone from the comments or even kosm give me some tips on where and how to catch pike or Tarpon?
Nice man...You can get the pikes in almost any freshwater river system...The tarpon are brackish water fish, so you have to look at areas that freshwater has some mixing with salt...To keep the tarpon in a pond, you will need to learn how to convert them to freshwater...Its a process....Otherwise they will die.
Bro I don't think you should put that in your aquarium because wild fish like that could have diseases and spread it to your peacocks
You have to go through the process of cleaning them bro...Freeze a couple days...Clean and then soak in saltwater before feeding.
No I mean the pike cichlid bro
@@sundar4761 Oh nah...bro...they in a different tank. The peacocks will try to eat them...lol
@@KoSMTT cool cool jus looking out
