It took me about an hour mucking around with it - putting from my carpet and from the Excalibur with a Throw a Hole (if you have neither get them NOW) to get the tossing/sweeping motion locked in; but man when it clicked, the scales fell from my eyes! The BioMech really does let you take it straight back and straight through with little more than setting it on the ground to your intended target line and making the gentle sweeping motion described in the video. I have these long straight patterns in my carpeting and I was able to take it waaaay back and waaaay through without it coming off either line back/through. I recorded myself DTL to be sure I wasn't fooling myself (I wasn't). Plus, it has the added benefit of allowing you to practice putting for long periods of time without strain on your lower back because the physical ergonomics/design/recommended use of the BioMech is to stand more upright and open your stance as demonstrated above. This posture also has the added benefit of having your eyes almost directly over the ball/putter head at address AND 2) having a clear and easier few of your target line (WIN WIN). Todd's brother and putting guru Tim Graves, espouses hands down the line, hands leading, and hip check; the BioMech putter checks all of those boxes with ease. Hey Todd, really liking the putter but find the BioMech videos a little lacking when it comes to exactly how to use the putter. How about a short video explaining how you use the putter? Stance, grip, where you place the shaft against your arm, head/eye placement, stroke. I’m really having trouble standing the 2-3” from the ball...feel jammed up with no room to swing. Thanks! Happy New Year everyone!
Bryson deChambeau uses a Sik armlock putter with a noticeable amount of forward shaft lean, although not as pronounced as the Bio. Todd, it would be interesting to see you try that one also and give us your thoughts on the comparison. However, I believe the Sik is much more expensive.
The science of the lean at 13 degrees and the back shaft is advantageous. This is the science behind this putter. If Bryson's putter doesn't fit these criteria i am not really interested in just a pretty arm lock putter. As a matter of fact, the arm-lock, shaft lean, head design is a system. Bryson should use this putter.
I want a little more in depth video. I want to make sure I'm practicing properly. 1. Are the shoulders open with the body or square down the line like we chip? 2. Weight more on the lead foot or 50/50 3. Do you just rock the shoulders or turn the body?
This is not a body turn. Rock the shoulders - around the locked lead shoulder / club / arm. Weight 50/50. Front of shoulders are parallel to line or just slightly open. Aim the putter face and get the putter to move straight. The putter is pretty much self - explanatory. Get the putter moving straight. Uncomplicate the process and get the putter moving down the line.
I think it is ok and it works left hand low. I like right hand low better. Just make sure you get the right length of putter and if you decide to go left hand low, you need one size shorter.
I wish everyone owned this putter. It's that good and I'm not ashamed to sell it. I will give anyone a refund who buys it and doesn't like it. How's that for a guarantee?
@@ToddGravesGolf well I am going all in with the single plane swing this upcoming season. Being from Canada I may pick your brain now and then. Love the videos and your teaching style.
I utilize a hybrid version off this technique. However For me the forward shaft lean demands alot of putter loft. to keep the ball from bouncing or skidding off the face. How much loft does your putter have? Or is it a non factor because of your putter designed nomenclature? Thanks for posting.
When Moe said "You'll never see one bit of dirt on the toe of my club", did he mean: * He angled the club towards the heal slightly so the toe would never touch the floor on impact. * That he never took a duvet. Or * because he started with the heel inline with the ball at address, the ball (with dirt on it) would never strike the toe of the club on impact?
Moe always felt that the heel of the club would lead into impact. That is what he meant. He also said "The toe of the club is near alive, never active".
I got one of these putters and looking forward to better weather so I can go play with it. Question. It looks in your video like the right arm is moving in a piston manner. Is that correct? So far I’ve been trying to lock my elbows into my belly and rock my shoulders. Please comment on the proper putting motion. Thanks
Very cool demo! I see your “nerdness” and raise you one...if one wouldn’t want to flip wrists when putting doesn’t the same hold true for regular swing? Do the oversized jumbo grips reduce that possible variable?
It doesn't hold true for the regular swing..no. The longer stroke requires wrist movement to produce speed (which is unnecessary in the putting stroke). If you want to reduce flipping the wrists during the swing, you must get the body movement correct - so that the torso is open at impact (during the full swing).
LOL!! So rather than naturally sweep with the long putter you already had (aka a broomstick putter!), you needed to reinvent the wheel with an arm-anchored putter? No one anchors a broomstick when sweeping, so why do it when putting?
Of course I did that. And it's not a bad way to putt. What I found is that since the difference between sweeping and putting is mainly that putting is more precise and minimizing the movement of the top end of the putter (broom) becomes very important. Also, you need more leverage when you sweep than when you putt. This is why I think it better to anchor rather hand broom hold.
Todd, have you ever tried aim point? I really feel that the combination of aim point and single plane has deadly potential. Just wish I could more consistently execute! I alway make a couple small mistakes that cost my score for the round.
Is there a limit to the length of the shaft?/ Why not basically put the new putter head on a modified "broomstick" and hold the shaft in your Left hand just like your wife was holding it? It seems to me that she had the most perfect bio-mechanical motion of all! Putting BOTH of your hands down so low on the stick (even though it is braced on your left forearm) changes the perfect biomechanical motion that your wife uses, with the hands separated widely.
You could. The only thing about the hand on top would be it is still able to move (variably) the way my wife was sweeping although it is worth a try. I also like the underhandedness of the trial hand rather than the pushing motion of my wife's broom motion. The angle of force - is the key.
When Bryson starts putting with an open stance he will be unstoppable. Don't forget he tried to putt side saddle but the USGA stopped him. Ditto Sam Snead.
Don't think the USGA stopped Sam doing side saddle, they stopped him doing croquet style (feet astride the ball). That's when he went to side saddle. Also, with Bryson, it wasn't side saddle that got him in trouble, it was the putter he wanted to use
Seems an awful lot like "Anchoring" and that scares me. What happens if we get used to this type of putting style and later on it becomes illegal? My golfing partner used to "anchor" his putter belly styled putter until it became illegal. It ruined his putting for quite some time when he had to conform to the rules.
Moe wasn't a very good putter, but late in his life he declared that he finally found the secret to putting. Could you share any knowledge that you have about this?
Well. There wasn't anything mechanical other than he began to believe that he was a good putter. "Every putt is like a 3-footer". That is what he often said to me.
And then I watch this NHL game highlight and all I think of is the broom. Check out Yellow #4's slapshop in slo-mo. Same mechanic. ua-cam.com/video/awOmQwyjcTA/v-deo.html
Look back at your video. When sweeping the floor look at the position of your feet. Pick up a stone ,look at the target then look at the position of your feet. Your feet are not straight in line with the target. The left foot is at least a foot back from the right foot.
I can’t help but feel a little betrayed by this video . Not everyone can afford a $ 280 putter and biomech I can assume is giving you more than pocket change for your endorsement . You would have thought Moe would have figured this putting motion out long before Biomech since he honed in “the perfect swing” I actually bought Moe’s Natural Putter but never used it on the course and ending giving it as a thank you to Pat Pohlen , my Graves Academy instructor . I think the putter you now use makes a lot of sense and would love one but unfortunately I am on a fixed budget since retirement but at least I can afford to golf once a week which is my passion . @@michaelscott9466 Of course. If you need anything email me at toddg@gravesgolf.com.
@@ToddGravesGolf well I am going all in with the single plane swing this upcoming season. Being from Canada I may pick your brain now and then. Love the videos and your teaching style.
Todd, I love the whole concept, but too many words.
Yes great concept.
This putter is very intriguing. Anyway to demo the putter in a local store before ordering?
I doubt that you can find a store that has one but Maybe.
I utilize a hybrid version off this technique. However For me the forward shaft lean demands alot of putter loft. to keep the ball from bouncing or skidding off the face. How much loft does your putter have? Or is it a non factor because of your putter designed nomenclature?
Thanks for posting.
Yes. The putter is designed correctly. that is the beauty of this design. No other putter design (currently) will perform like the BioMech putter.
Hi Todd. I believe you. I’ve always putted with an open stance but never found putting easy. How do I get one of these putters? Send a link.

With the sweeping motion you looked more side saddle stroke.
I probably suck with a broom.
@@ToddGravesGolf lucky you don't have to sweep the porch 😂
When Moe said "You'll never see one bit of dirt on the toe of my club", did he mean:
* He angled the club towards the heal slightly so the toe would never touch the floor on impact.
* That he never took a duvet.
Or
* because he started with the heel inline with the ball at address, the ball (with dirt on it) would never strike the toe of the club on impact?
Moe always felt that the heel of the club would lead into impact. That is what he meant. He also said "The toe of the club is near alive, never active".
I got one of these putters and looking forward to better weather so I can go play with it.
Question. It looks in your video like the right arm is moving in a piston manner. Is that correct?
So far I’ve been trying to lock my elbows into my belly and rock my shoulders.
Please comment on the proper putting motion.
Thanks
The right arm is in a position position but the body is moving to move the putter.
Yes. I have my own green reading process.
@@ToddGravesGolf can you make a video about it?
@@ToddGravesGolf Thanks for the comment!! Am going to try the new putter that you have recommended. It all makes so much sense.
Love Mine!
Me too.

Oh Yes. She gets ALL the royalties.
In the early days of golf the putter was a mallet head and most putted like that
Natural.
Is this putter USPGA legal so to speak?

When Bryson starts putting with an open stance he will be unstoppable. Don't forget he tried to putt side saddle but the USGA stopped him. Ditto Sam Snead.
Well see.
Don't think the USGA stopped Sam doing side saddle, they stopped him doing croquet style (feet astride the ball). That's when he went to side saddle. Also, with Bryson, it wasn't side saddle that got him in trouble, it was the putter he wanted to use
@@markpogson3799 Good Points.
Would like to get one but they seem to be back ordered?
Temporarily.
Seems an awful lot like "Anchoring" and that scares me. What happens if we get used to this type of putting style and later on it becomes illegal? My golfing partner used to "anchor" his putter belly styled putter until it became illegal. It ruined his putting for quite some time when he had to conform to the rules.
The angle is the key. And this is legal.
HAha, Love the Broom, Awesome
Thanks!
Is that new putter legal?
Yes
And then I watch this NHL game highlight and all I think of is the broom. Check out Yellow #4's slapshop in slo-mo. Same mechanic. ua-cam.com/video/awOmQwyjcTA/v-deo.html
Look back at your video. When sweeping the floor look at the position of your feet. Pick up a stone ,look at the target then look at the position of your feet. Your feet are not straight in line with the target. The left foot is at least a foot back from the right foot.
Of course. Open feet, that is what I am promoting.
@@ToddGravesGolf Would you do that with the driver. ( open feet ).
@@bobchambers6952 Nope.
Maybe bowls is a better game for you!
Lol.
Joel
Hi Joel, I understand being on a fixed budget when it come buying new golf equipment especially a $300 putter. Every year there is something new to buy. For me personally I (spouse) puts a few bucks in my golf jar each week for these kind of purchase. I have seen a few a eBay but the prices are the same. Good luck with finding this putter.
Betrayed. Why? The putter is expensive to manufacture too. How can I help?
@@ToddGravesGolf
I used my stimulus money to buy clubs and take some lessons from GA. Little did I know how expensive clubs are so I bought used . Taylor Made . And a Sandie Andie 😄. Descent clubs can help you but only if you continue to perfect your swing and I have a lot of thanks to GA and single plane as I get better . It’s just that I’m jealous of this new putter because it makes so much sense in getting the ball to roll more truer and like you demonstrated , get rid of all those thoughts in my head about hands and arms . But it is what it is and like I said before , I am fortunate to be able to play once a week. I broke 90 for the first time in my 67 yrs !! Problem was I shot an 82 with several 3 putts . Maybe that’s why I’m jealous 😀. Thank you Todd and GA. Joel
