I almost cried watching, i lived in the middle east for years like it was my home, and people were just so kind than the people here where I came from. I was born in Italy, from bengali muslim parents, I was basically half Italian with citizenship, passport and all, it was my first day in primary school, and I didn't understand what "racism" was... everyone else in the class was white, and I was the only brown, not only in my class, but the whole year group. Year 1: people dont play with me, they dont want to talk to me, they dont want to talk to me, they stay away from me, why? They were SCARED of me. Year 2: it was same as year 1, but worse, they started saying to me "why are you brown?" "You look full of dirt" "why dont you look like us" Year 3: here is when the worse for me started, I was able to understand why I am brown, but I didnt knew racism, they said to me "you are fat" "you look ugly" "we dont want to play with you" Year 4: People started calling me terrorist, sh*t, mud, poor... just for my origins, and religion, I once came home crying and saying to mom "mom, they keep insulting me" Year 5: in italy, year 5 is the last year of primary, they backstabbed me, they called me terrorist, they insulted not only me, but my whole family... and one day, one of them asked "why are you even here? Go where you come from, with terrorists" I couldn't tell my teacher because they didnt care a bit. I started secondary school, I met new people, but the situation was the same, not for long... Year 6: "you are a Terrorist!" "You stink!!" "You are sooo dirty!!!" I remember back when I was 7 or 8, I stared at this man bcs he was black. The first black person I ever saw. My mother said to me "stop staring that is so rude." Later on, age 14, my best friend was black. We have remained friends for oh say 35 years. Two years ago I was literally dying from acute pneumonia. They flew in this muslim dr and he saved my life. I am a muslim who had been bullied for 5 years for being Muslim, and bengali, this is my partial story of being bullied.
I was born in Italy, from bengali muslim parents, I was basically half Italian with citizenship, passport and all, it was my first day in primary school, and I didn't understand what "racism" was... everyone else in the class was white, and I was the only brown, not only in my class, but the whole year group.
Year 1: people dont play with me, they dont want to talk to me, they dont want to talk to me, they stay away from me, why? They were SCARED of me.
Year 2: it was same as year 1, but worse, they started saying to me "why are you brown?" "You look full of dirt" "why dont you look like us"
Year 3: here is when the worse for me started, I was able to understand why I am brown, but I didnt knew racism, they said to me "you are fat" "you look ugly" "we dont want to play with you"
Year 4: People started calling me terrorist, sh*t, mud, poor... just for my origins, and religion, I once came home crying and saying to mom "mom, they keep insulting me"
Year 5: in italy, year 5 is the last year of primary, they backstabbed me, they called me terrorist, they insulted not only me, but my whole family... and one day, one of them asked "why are you even here? Go where you come from, with terrorists" I couldn't tell my teacher because they didnt care a bit.
I started secondary school, I met new people, but the situation was the same, not for long...
Year 6: "you are a Terrorist!" "You stink!!" "You are sooo dirty!!!"
Year 7: here, I was near freedom, I left italy, and came in the UK, other people were so mean that it affected my behaviour a lot, but I was free, finally.
Sadly i was also bullied because i am a hindu in a muslim majority area

I remember back when I was 7 or 8, I stared at this man bcs he was black. The first black person I ever saw. My mother said to me "stop staring that is so rude." Later on, age 14, my best friend was black. We have remained friends for oh say 35 years. Two years ago I was literally dying from acute pneumonia. They flew in this muslim dr and he saved my life. How could I hate on this man or the others who helped me survive? You are forever grateful for that and you never forget who saved your life.
