Hey, thanks for the heads up! I'll check this next time I try to get that dang saw working. I had it running for a good 45 minutes, then it shut itself off (it bogged down a few times while I was using it) and I couldn't get it to start again.

I picked an old homelite blower with a split plug lead, but it also needs a carb as the choke lever is broken off, and the lower blower tube.

Nice fix: I had a one yr. old J.D. riding mower come to my shop that would only backfire and not start. Mouse ate the plug wire. I put some liquid electric tape on it and covered with a piece of shrink wrap. Ran perfect. Honda makes a rodent tape that works good also. Thanks for great video's.

Of course you can tape it. You just have to look to make sure you haven't eaten into the spark wire (much). Now, for a car, the jacket on the spark wires has a dielectric property and prevents spark jump to the block (I think I got this right), so tape repairs on a car spark wire, especially close to the block, I believe, can be not so good.

Hey boss. Good fix. I've had similar experiences vwith several machines over the years. ( I've been around a long time.) Short of swapping out the coil and spark plug wire combo, repairing the wire as you have is the thing to do. I woud have used " liquid tape" instead of real tape as the wire is right near the engine and subject to heat which could make the tape's glue lose its adhesive quality and the tape could then unravel in the future. Good diagnosis though because electrical problems can mimic fuel problems and vice versa. Like your vids. Will stay tuned. Be well and God bless.

Oh my god, I have a stihl fs85 that tried to start with a new carb, ran fine for 3 seconds every time I pulled it, then stopped. Compression was 75, the guy wants to buy it so I will swap the coil from my fs80 that is for parts.
Seen this a few times. Always a good time.. LOL
I see nothing wrong with the way you fixed it. I have done the same a few times. The ones you have to watch are the ones that say, Yeah, the coil was bad and I had to replace it.
When I heard it my guess was the kill wire was misrouted and crushed causing insulation to become compromised.
