Second hand for the chrono misaligned with the 12 position
I guessed right. I noticed the chronometer hand was not exactly on the 12 o'clock like the other watch was.
I noticed the same thing, but still picked the other one because I thought it looked prettier. Maybe just because I like the black better than the white..
This could also happen in a genuine watch. IMO it is indeed suggestive of a lower build quality in a fake watch but it is dangerous to assume that all watches with a misaligned chronometer hand are not genuine.
The B wasn't centered over the T in Breitling. When you stopped it, it didn't go back to 60, it was off.

I got it right: It seemed like there was much less resistance when pushing start/stop on chronograph on the fake. Also, the chronongraph second hand did not reset instantly to exactly zero on the fake. Also the words on the back surrounding the middle seemed to be less deeply engraved on the fake.
I've Got Each one you've done except for this one and I'll tell you... the AR is exactly what got me. they were so close and when I saw the AR on the one Crystal and not the other..that's what brightlings is famous for , having a Flawless anti reflective coating... scary stuff brother!!!! If you see the fake in isolation you’ve little chance of recognising it as a fake. Having a genuine watch helps but is by no means foolproof. I identified the fake but only because I was looking for a fake. Excellent video.
Chronograph hand did not sweep back to exactly 12. In addition, the shape of the crown appears a bit different from the original. Probably I was just lucky to guess correctly...thanks for the video!
The zeroing of the second hand gave it away for me
I don't know if you missed it but on the fake one the chronograph index didn't "set" on the 12 exactly. On the genuine it did. So I spotted the fake as soon as you reset the chronograph.
Agreed however there are real ones out there that have the same issue from movement wear...
Chronograph hands not resetting exactly is more common than not unfortunately. It doesn’t tell you anything on the watch bejng genuine or not
Tbh I thought this too, the only reason I thought the fake one was the black one was because it didn’t reset properly. But then again I’m not the best watch man
I got it right. The second hand on the grey one does not line up with the chapter ring. The engraving on the back is less clear. If you would have put them on a timegrapher the difference might have been much more obvious.
The centering of the date window and the engraving om the case back is what caught my eye. Other than that easy to be fooled by these watches.
Thank you for sharing this 😊. I spotted that the grey was the fake one from the placement of the date window and the quality of its print. Then when you turned both watches to show the back cases it became clearly abvious. An advantage for me is that I already own one; so it's easier for me to spot a fake, albeit it is really scary how the fake one is finished. Once again ... thanks for sharing 👍
Anthony, my brother, It's great to see another review from you. I ended up guessing right. What told me the black dial was fake was the engraving on the caseback and the way the hands moved when you moved them. The 7750's, I've come to notice, have a very distinct hand movement when you twist the crown. It really is scary how good some of the fakes are (and have been for the last 10 years or so). Ah yes, you are right! For me: The chronometer hand didn't reset to 0 (in reset to just offset), and the rotating bezel has a weird font for the numbers when compared to the original.
Man! Question is how did the replica get the AR coating correct? The authentic one didn’t have the proper crystal. That was the only thing that threw me off. I noticed how easy the play was on the replica and the case back wasn’t as prominent as the authentic. Scary!
It appeared to me that the chronograph seconds did not reset to zero on the black dial model.
The superclones now have indistinguishable movements unless you look at the gearing in them with a loupe. Without a loupe, you cannot distinguish anything between them anymore.
That was amazing, and wow when you removed both the backs, what a difference. Scary is an understatement 👍 Tam.
These days they come with the same movement decoration …. I spotted it with the badly aligned date.
This is the first one that I spotted the fake correctly! It was the Breitling logo that gave it away for me. The white dial Bwing was so clean compared to the fake. I am now at a score of 1 out of 3.
Robert Easley About that, I also just noticed that the Bwing is not centered above the Breitling logo on the fake watch. It’s perfectly aligned on the genuine watch.
If you look carefully on the side of the bezel between 11 and 12 you will see an engraved flying Breitling B... helps to make the decision!
Never noticed that before! I have looked over my watch with a jeweler's hood and that's one detail I have missed. Aside from that, the details are amazing under magnification! Truly works of art. Fit and finish is impeccable!

I got it right, I could tell by the AR, the watch with the black band was very reflective.
I guessed the fake based on the way the numbers are appearing on the date function. The 9 is not perfectly centered in the date window and this is pretty obvious. However, there are better replicas out there which are virtually indistinguishable from the original.

There is dust motes and a very large white flake on one of the dials that gave it away right away - Breitling QC would never allow that. Caseback also gave it away on the center stamp.

I was able to suspect the dark one was fake. I happen to own a Breitling Chronomat, also being a white face dial. Mine has the gold accents around the bezel, the crown and push buttons. I have a leather strap but it has the Breitling clasp like that of the metal band. So that made me wonder. Also the stitching didn't seem as spot on. I don't know if that would really have made a difference but it was just things I noticed. Also as you brought out about the back, the lettering didn't seem as "crisp" or sharp, but I didn't know if that would have made a deciding difference.
When viewed under a jeweller's hood, many fine details become more evident. The fine details of fit and finish are impressive! The effort put into the making one of these time pieces is second to none! I don't own a Phillp Patek but I've seen Rolexes that don't have the same level of detail work. My Omega is nice but my Breitling is in a class of it's own!
I don’t know if the movement of the replica can be powered up through the crown besides than oscillating the mass.
But just when J.Anthony skipped that part in the gray, that was my cue. Also the numbers in the date window seemed lackluster.

Why did the real watch not have the blue anti-glare coating on the sapphire glass?
The white dialed one had a much higher lush back polish also the seconds had at 9 o'clock was marking seconds, couldn't see that on the dark one...!!!
Side be side there are visible differences
1. Lume pips size at 12,3,6 and 9,
2. Lume Color on the hands,
3. Misalignment and size of the date print in the date window,
4. Different font for the 5 in "15" and "45" on the bezel,
5. The minute markers on the bezel seem slightly misaligned at 1:30.
6. The etching of the circular pattern on the dial is not nearly as deep and crisp at 9:48
7. The "Automatic" print is larger and not as fine.
8. The little 40 marking on the tachymeter is misaligned with the 150
9. The printing is generally not as fine - especially the chronograph "30" at 12 o'clock
10. The chronograph hand doesn't reset to 12 o'clock.
11. The engraving on the back - as you said.
12. The Breitling logo entirely misaligned with the 1884 print
But yeah, if just saw it in separation, I would assume it's genuine. Maybe only the misaligned date would make me sceptical, as it gives off a cheap-movement look.
I did get it right, but I couldn’t tell by how it looked. The black one did not center its second hand witch told me the movement wasn’t so well made, but that’s not far off. The print and etching wasn’t quite as good, but not far off.

i picked the left one as fake. The dates scroll badly and the engraving on the back logo was not cleanly cut. The reset of the watch was also sloppy.

I got it right due to the chronograph return direction. The real one returned counterclockwise, the fake clockwise.
I think it returns counterclockwise before 30 and clockwise after 30 sec....
All the while watching I was thinking the black one was the fake because of the way the chronograph buttons pressed without clicking, the movement of the hands when turning the crown seemed way too loose. But when you pointed out the glass having a blue hue, I was convinced I had got it wrong and that it must be genuine. This is why I will never buy something like this from anywhere other than the manufacturer, or a reputable watch seller that provided guarantees.
i have the fake graphite, the 45 marker is a little bit too close to the ceiling as well. It's amazing how they'd get so much right and mess up on small details like this.
Right! At first glance I was thinking the white faced watch but upon closer inspection there were two clues that swayed me. First was the hand didn't reset to zero on the black faced watch and it also looked like the T in the Breitling logo was slightly misaligned on the face.
When the second chrono hand does not return to the correct 12 o'clock, I've spotted the fake, not before! Really good lookalike!
I knew the one on the left was a fake right away. The running second hand on the right has a jet plane shape to it. The one on the left does not have the jet plane. It is a scary close replica though.
The black strap, under the lettering in the watch face it has a small white dot with out any use.
I dumped the black dial one on the logo on the dial. But scary.
I can see right on the logo ... on the dark ones is a bit on site... not right in the middle with the breitling sign.
I guessed right. The numbers on the rider tabs of the gray one didnt look as crisp. But the real tell was the font of the numbers on the sub dials.
One minute in, when you held up the white/silver I could see the hash marks around the 12 lume plot were shorter than the rest: Gen. The graphite one has longer hash marks: Fake. One of the reasons I know this is because I've done the gen dial (into rep) conversion a couple of times!
As soon you showed the fake I noticed the crown wasn't right and the case quality and guess it most be the fake, but I wasn't 100%.

Good morning, J. I was able to figure it out because you didn’t spend too much time rotating the fake’s bezel and when you adjusted the hour and minute hands they appeared way too loose. In addition, the dial on the genuine Breitling just looked more “alive” but maybe that’s because it’s white hahaha.
This was the first time I looked at the watches together so that wasn’t intentional...no idea why I did that lol but agree on the dial
For me also, the hands seemed loose, as they moved too freely. And of course, the "light" etchings on the case back ... still, scary stuff !
Question. The fake’s Dial has different shades of black.. does the authentic do that as well?

Date was a give away. The numbers on the bezels weren’t quite perfectly aligned/centred either.

Good fake but spotted the fake straight away @10 and at @12-13 seconds in. Not only does the T in Breitling sit in the middle of the B - Badge but the hands are a clear give away also. Those fake hands are bent and very rough looking thanks to your excellent zoom. Great video by the way and cheers.
I got it right before you popped them open: the onoin-shaped crown of the original is slighly elongated, but the replica’s crown is rather round. My wife owns a Chronomat and I eas intrigued by the shape of that crown...

When you reset second hand on second watch it was fractionally forward of 12 o’clock position that’s when I thought black strap watch!

The big giveaway to me was when resetting the chrono on the dark watch. It was about one second ahead of the 12 o'clock position. Nice copy though
The thing that got me the right answer was the hands. The polish on the fake was not even, and the edges weren’t as smooth. Tough one though. I dread the day they start buying the genuine ETA7750 and sticking it in a faked case.
I guessed wrong! I was to focused on the strap.
The Chinese are are now cloning the 7750 movement so the only way to tell the difference is close up font inspection, and history serial numbers I guess.
A few things show the grey dial watch as the fake, mostly the case back which is very poor and the running second hand which is the wrong shape, but also the hour batons are too big, the printing on the sub dials is too heavy, the lume at 30 and 45 is wrong, the date wheel momement was inacurate, and yes the chrpnograph second doesn't reset correctly. But, the grey dial watch looks to have an AR coating on the crystal which seems to be missing on the white dial watch whch gave me a bit of doubt for a second. Looked at quickly and in isolation, apart from the case back and the running second hand, yes it would fool most people.
The blue shine on the black dial one gave it away from the beginning
The 'loose' hands in the setting of the grey one, gave it away, and the date setting was not as precise as it should be.
But yes, fake watches has distanced themself from the $100 ones from the vacation in Bulgaria...

Hi J ,scary if I buy a watch now over £500 in a dealers shop I always ask to see the movement because some dealers will be fooled and will look to pass the fake on especially if it’s a junior that is conned he won’t want to tell his boss he has just handed over thousands for a Chinese knock off.I think it’s the greedy fast buck anyway you can times we live in.
Does this Breitling look fake. Very heavy. Bluish crystal. Logo and name look good. B on fluted crown is even. Bentley model. Outside dial turns nicely, no shaking.
Ebay is probably THE BEST place to purchase a used luxury watch if your looking for a slamming deal. If you sell me a knock off anything on Ebay, I return it and I am guaranteed to get my money back. I can not say the same for a lot of dealers and auction houses that Ive dealt with in the past.
The white spec of “paint ?” Below the Automatic script on the face gave it away.
The AR coating is what got me. I guessed wrong.
I was able to spot the fake once they were turned over. Unfortunately I was only able to do so because I knew one was real and one was a fake. If you don't have the two case backs side by side, I think most people would struggle to spot the fake. The thing that I caught on to was the quality of the lettering on the case back. The serial number tip was also a good one. I will have to keep that one in mind moving forward. Good video.
The Minnie badge next to calendar window on the black one is not dead exact. Everything breitling does is dead perfect. The lines that make the wings on the badge should not touch at the end of the tips. The ends of the anchor should not touch either and the “B” was not dead perfect. I have yet to see a replica make that badge correctly, they don’t take attention to detail in account like a luxury watch brand like breitling does. If those lines onthe wings touch at any point or the tips of the anchor do it’s a fake.That little badge is the first thing I look at. Would have been a little easier if you zoomed in on the top of the watch and held it still for a min. Look really closely at the badge and you will see what I’m talking about. You don’t even need to open the watch if this badge is not dead perfect. Alright!
just because the chronograph hand doesn't line up isn't a sure way to identify the fake because all chronograph hands can become misaligned over years of use and these are old watches. i will say i was fooled because the Breitling logo looked much better on the fake than the real one with its much lager print

I work for a charity and someone donated 4 watches that are faulty . I fixed the bent hour hand on the breitling. After seeing this video I now know it's a fake because the rotor is blank just like the black watch in the video . The other watches were a Tag Heuer , a Rolex and a Augermars Piguet . We did contact the police and they took all four watches . Later we found out that they were all fakes but we're very good ones .

Well after 5 years having mine, I just discovered mine is fake .. i just changed the battery on it and the jeweler didn't tell me .
The seconds hand wasn't lined up correctly on the fake. I do have a Breitling but certainly no expert on watches :)

If you look at the logo. The emblem is directly centered with “1884” on the replica it is offset
