    This reminds me if my grandma using Ariel to washe her floors. Her home always smelled amazing. She would open the windows in the morning for 30min everywhere in the house. She never used any sprays, candles or similar. Just fresh air and clean surfaces plus always close the door of the kitchen when cooking and opening the windows wide. 😊

      I miss the days of having a kitchen that you can actually close off from the rest of the house. My old place was like that, but I'm currently renting and it has this modern open floor plan so there's no door to close and no way to keep kitchen smells in the kitchen.

    • @BaronessJames

      Yes. D ultimate secret is to regularly open ur windows, especially when cooking, and of course after, to air out d house. It is shocking, how many ppl don't do ds. House stays closed up, month after month, resulting to horrible smelling homes!!! All d above ideas in d video r awesome. But pls air out ur homes as well!!!!

      It doesn't leave a film on everything? I use unstoppable by fabreeze and it leaves a film on the floors. Drives me crazy. Spraying fabric softener seems like it would leave a film on carpets and sofas.

    • @jadenikole830
      @jadenikole830 5 років тому +31

      @@Sandy-vp3mn no not at all! For a fresh scent spray you only have to use a small amount of fabric softener in the spray bottle and dilute with water to the top of the spray bottle. A dime sized amount of softener will do. It evaporates without leaving a film, and couches, pillows, blankets etc. are left feeling soft and smelling great! I can see how using too concentrated a solution of softener vs water can cause a film concern. Just be sure to not use too much, that dawn goes a long way 😉

    Just to help these young mommies out here, my Jenna when she was little was afraid of monsters in her closet, under her bed, behind the door etc. you get it. So I made the home version of Gain fireworks with some rubbing alcohol and hot water. Shook it until dissolved. Then I peeled the label off the spray bottle (use any bottle your ready to throw away they all work well) and with a Sharpie I wrote, “MONSTER SPRAY.” Several sprays calmed my little girl and the scent helped her fall asleep. I’ve also done it with Lavender. I can’t remember which brand, but you get the gist. As I would spray, I’d sing her a song about monsters going away. Worked like a charm!

    Great tips! I would also recommend using old tights/pantyhose with runs instead of the plastic bag or the little organza bags to fill with the scent boosters. Cut up the old tights/pantyhose and make little “baggies” by tying knots, and use those as the sachet.

    I love this! Thx for these great ideas! My family lives as a single income household & I'm always looking for ways to save a few pennies & stretch my products. I absolutely LOVE the smell of the Downy Unstoppables, but, they're just too pricey compared to other stuff I can buy that works just as well. With these ideas it'll be a lot more cost effective & I can use the Unstoppables bcuz one bottle seems to make a lot of product. So excited to try next time I go shopping! 😀

    I had made a scent spray with another laundry crystal scent booster... and everytime I used it, the undissolved crystals clogged up the bottle. I boiled water on the stovetop, added scent crystals in and whisked it until they dissolved. Then let it sit until it cooled before pouring into the bottle. That worked

    I've been doing those hacks for like 4+yrs now.and I have found out that all of the downy unstopables work great but I have also used the Gain fireworks & the Snuggle I started trying them when I was tight on cash.now the Gain Fireworks are the same exact thing as the Downy(same size beads,same texture, dissolve in water the same&melt in warmers the same)I even use the same amount of them in every hack s the Downy.Now the Snuggle those are still beads the shape is slightly different & the texture is different (harder&kinda seethru).Also when it comes to the fabric spray I recommend using a little more of them.Also the Snuggle ones I wouldn't recommend using them in the wax burners.but everything else is great.Couple suggestions&tips that I do are.1)when making the fabric/rug spray I reuse the febreeze bottle that I has purchased from before&I use HOT Water for the spray it releases the scent more and the beads break down/dissolve alot faster.also with those bags I like to use the bags that you put potpourri in.I put one hanging next to my cat litter box,I live in an apartment building so I bought those little hooks to hang stuff on.and I hang two of those bags on my door one on the inside of the apt and one on the outside so it's smells so good walking up the stairs to my apt.&another good spot to put is under your couch cushions if they come off.you can use the potpourri bags or the regular baggies like in the trash idea just make sure they are flattened.also I know that the unstopables can get pricey.but if you live near a Family Dollar(not a Dollar tree) they have sales all the time on the plus the store offers there own coupons.called Smart Coupons.(super easy go to website,signups&clip coupons,when you go to store then you put your phone# into pinpad and coupons automatically sync up with your account.& automatically it gets taken off on your receipts.I get the average sized bottle all the time for $1.75-$2.95 Max.check it out.totally worth 15mins of ur time.

      Yes... you’re fortunate (believe it or not), to have immediate physical side effects from these products. They’re neurotoxic, even used as directed. Many people have no immediate physical side effects that they can pinpoint to “Fragrances” though, and they continue use, long term. Even outside as directed by the manufacturer (who would surely say, “go ahead”, if they thought their product was safe for that... heck, they’d advertise it! More customers and more sales!).... Its really not safe at all... but then again, “fragrances” in general aren’t safe, and the effects only get worse the more you use them (even more so when used outside directions).... I support everyone’s liberty to do as they please in their own homes, but given the science background of many of my colleagues (I’m not a scientist, they are lol), I feel the need to stress: This is NOT a safe practice,

    Unstopables seem to just be solidified fabric softener. Many of these uses could also be achieved with Bounce dryer sheets. Certainly dissolving them in water is more expensive and difficult than just diluting Downy or Snuggle in a spray bottle.

    i'm here because i not only knew about fabric softener with water being a ridiculously cheap alternative for fabreeze, but because of that, it popped into my head that i should try fabric softener in one of my oil heaters that uses tea lights. i just wanted to see if anyone else had thought of this... and it also had occurred to me that my plug in scented wax heater should work just as well, without the fuss of candles.
    by the way, that scent from the oil heater traveled all the way across my house...it's very, very powerful... and i just used generic dollar store fabric softener. just to experiment, i will try a nice, scented laundry detergent next.

    The tealight warmer from dollar tree... a couple years ago I had one start on fire from inside the tealight area. Entire thing went up instantly and luckily I was near it and able to put it out. I told them at the store the next day and then the next time I went there they had them all on display right by the door. I don't know how this doesn't seem to happen to others.

    • @Knate1104
      @Knate1104 2 роки тому +1

      Yeah that can definitely happen. Soot will build up on the underside of the warming dish (the roof of the little tea light area). If that soot absorbs enough heat it can ignite. Same thing can happen in a chimney. Best bet is to clean the underside of the tea light warming dish on a regular basis. The dollar tree ones are cheap and will break easily so be careful
