Very cool! Tip: look for some CA glue activator spray - once you glue something up you just spritz a little activator onto the glue and it causes the super glue to dry instantly and rock hard.
A very small amount of baking soda will do the same thing. Test it by gluing a couple of pieces scrap plastic first. Takes a Very Small amount. Blow or brush the excess off.
Using just the tiniest amount of glue to begin with helps it cure faster too. With super glue, you need very very little glue. I think someone told me just breathing on it can speed it up too - I believe it's the water vapor in the air that actually cures it, so breathing on it with moist breath speeds up curing as well
I appreciate everyone's concerns regarding my hand injury. Unfortunately it had nothing to do with the cats and had everything to do with my own negligence using a putty knife.
Great videos, but lately I'm having to cycle through about 10 commercials just to get your videos to run, what's going on with all these commercials!!????
Excellent video as always! An excellent solvent for cyanoacrylate glue (AKA superglue) is acetone. But be careful: acetone is a solvent for most plastics as well. So, it wouldn't have worked in this case.
That red pointer is sharp looking. I'm glad we have some domestic sources for accurate reproduction parts like this. Beats cutting out DIY plastic parts with a Dremel. Cheers very much.
Very nice job but a point that needs to be made. This is not the same Da Dial pointer as in a Marantz 150 or 125 tuner… the 150 , 125 has a slightly longer pointer needle because of the size of the face plate…
What the heck happened to your hand? Looks like cat trauma? I am fortunate in that both my cats would never even consider slashing me. Interesting in that they are both feral rescues.
Nice video Aidan, thanks. Super glue wouldn't have been my first choice for this repair but they do make super glue remover just in case. Not sure how it reacts with plastic though.. Cool that someone makes these dial indicators, very niche part. Did you install an LED in the 2215B? Stay warm, see ya soon.
Thanks for the info. You may want to put the camera in a spot where your hand doesn't sometimes cover up what you're doing - though tbh, I'll never be able to do 99.9% of what you do. I have a 2245 that has dial issues but still has the pointer, as far as i remember. It's been out of rotation for years now. I understand the cost, but wish a full refurb wasn't half the worth of the amp, or more. I have to get it out of storage and try to see what's going on with it, but most likely, I'll have to find a tech. Anyway, good to know about the pointer for future reference. - Cheers

I've done the same working on cars
looks good, speaking of vintage, I saw the Little River Band perform in Daytona Beach last night. great show
Why superglue it wasnt going anywhere in the housing.
First sign of a cat owner: Extensively bandaged hands. JK, love cats. Great channel and vid as usual. Thanks, Aidan.

Ridiculous, I feel your frustration!

Just take an exact blade said the guy with a large bandaid on his thumb.
I love Vintage HiFi Audio. I bought a 2220b face plate from them and it is awesome! I'm going to buy a replacement knob next.

Red pointer wins, more contrast, looks sharp.
Having owned ALL of them except the 4400 (2215 upto the 4300) I never ever had a marantz dialpointer broken.
They are older now, it may become a thing?

I did not. Unfortunately I did not have one in stock.
Interesting DIY video! What happened to your left thumb?
