Another interesting repair Aiden. I have always liked Kenwood equipment. I own the Kenwood KR-9600 with the wood case accessory. What a beauty at 160 watts. Looks like Sadie took time off for this video! We still got a kitty replacement! Many thanks.
Sorry to say, but look back at your reflow job of the speaker switch ( 9:48 ), four or five contacts did not get a good flow and still have partly a cold joint. They will go again in a few years. To much haste I think. Good to see that you gave up on the shotgun replacements by now 😉
I find that the orange caps are usually much higher quality (low leakage) than other caps and tend to leave them alone. Nichicon KL series works well if you're going to replace them or film caps.
Hi I have been a subscriber for a while. I am currently doing a full restoration on a Pioneer SX 939. When I got it it was totally DEAD. I rebuilt all the boards and fixed or replaced everything I could see broke or wrong. It now came to life and all seems good except I can not get any sound out of it when hooked to an antenna and speakers. I tested the DC offset which is good. I am at a loss as to what to test or how. Could you give me some advice as to where to look and how to test? Thank you for any help.
Could you give me some help?? My Marantz 2220B works very well, I love the sound of it, but the STEREO lamp is very difficult to turn on on FM. On AUX-PHONO-TAPE it works perfectly, but on FM it is very difficult, although the FM station is picked up, the sound is clean, but the lamp turns on with great difficulty, stations above 100 are almost impossible to turn on the STEREO. And the few stations that the STEREO turned on were with a wire that goes outside the house, passing through the window, and another Technics receiver that I have picks up the signal 100% and the stereo turns on in all the stations with just a little bit of wire. Are there any adjustments I could make? I thank you in advance.
Re: your comment about the tuner quality. Actually, the reason some receivers (including this one) can not receive stations without an antenna attached, is because they have better shielding. A tuner that picks up without an antenna is more susceptible to external RF interference, and is actually acting as an "unintended" antenna for external RF. If you look at the service manual for this receiver, the FM sensitivity spec (given in mV) is right up there with any receiver of the era. Another note - I own the baby brother of this receiver, the KR-4010. It is put away for now, but it was the receiver my parents bought when I was in high school, and yes, it got a lot of use from me! It was rock solid until it was put away. However, I recall the tuner section was having some issues, and now I have something to go on, thanks to you!
Appreciate you showing some of the easier tasks to give us that have less expertise the confidence to do some of the simpler repairs.
That’s a good looking receiver 👍😊
Nice job on the tuner, hard to believe it was the first time you did the alignment.
Well done. Great technician! Look forward to the next item.
What’s the Frequency, Kenneth?

I just love watching you fix this stuff, even if I don't understand it all!!
Don't use F5 on the input selector switch. It has metal on metal contacts inside it.

Good to see you repairing receivers again. Kenwood is one of my favorites
Be carefull with lamps wattage. Must be 3W maximum, not the most common 5W ones.
I simply adore terrestrial FM Stereo sound. You’ve done remarkable work. Please keep going.🌹

Haven't done a recap job in a while have you ?
I stopped buying deoxit. I just use neutrol 401B and CRC these days.
Hello. Would you say that for a good price this receiver is worth purchasing? Does it sound good? Thank you.
Hi!! Does the KR-3010 also has a relay? If so can you help me to locate it? The receiver is working but relay doesn't make click after power on.🙏

Nice job! I agree should have more inputs. at least there are input selector boxes available cheap on the big A. Nice looking for a smaller unit !
Can you send a product link to the capacitor tester you have in this video? Thanks
nice job and very informative video. Thanks for posting it
13:01 He looks a little bit overweight... so it would be better to skip his meal, at least for today 😂😂🤣🤣
Damn you are good i bet if that stereo could talk to you it will say thank you lets go for a walk in the park together
That volume pot is not the original... The shaft was hand modified to a flat shaft from a round shaft.
Ya that looked weird to me

Great. Two things: How much (if any) antenna did you have when testing the tuner? How do you get your cat to purr so loud?
What model number are your KLH bench speakers?
Great video, as always thanks! Hodor is a handsome purr bag too! 😆
The power and speaker switch together is the worst idea ever!
Nice job!
What would be the dollar value if you chose to sell this unit?
What type of mat do you have on your workbench? Ive been looking at getting one for mine but i want to get a good quality one thats ESD safe
It's an ESD workstation mat. They were throwing it away at work. Not sure of the brand.
Great job. well done.
crap?
Good going.
😎😎😎👍👍👍
Thanks from Dave in Maine. 👍
Thanks so much, Dave!
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
