I know it's super confusing if you don't know anything about the original game lore, but his name is Lucilius for a reason as Lucifer is another character
He's a character who snowballs. His long cooldowns is a primary weakness, but he is blessed with some crazy ass normals, like that far 7 frame medium. He is very dependent on using other resources to help offset his offense while the cooldowns are on, like ultimate skills or raging chains. He does however have very good midscreen combos and damage. I think the longer the game goes, the stronger he'll get when people are comfortable managing cooldowns and such.
Ending his bnb with a corner hit 214L instead of M, and then doing 2H U(H) is a really nice ender to freely build some blade meter that is +37 on wakeup which lets you set up a 236H on oki which traps against everything that isn't a frame 1 reversal. I've been having a ton of fun with him and labbing setups to keep my specials or finish combos in good ways, like just spending a raging strike to increase my time, when I can't use specials. He's definitely a different character and not top tier, but his damage and potential is elite so I'm confident in him.
about a week for UNI 2, cant wait for a disection of the new mechanics by the one and only Jiyuna whom I suposse will take out a video about a week or two later, but I do prefer baked quality over raw easy videos
I'm just glad they didn't give him a meterless DP on top of his god normals and neutral skip specials, they didn't make the nier mistake twice in a row
Definitely my type of character, like Asuka before it. High on awareness, low on execution, and all his tools are juiced to compensate for the balancing act. Will definitely give him a try.
Now I have my character. Been playing him since the maintenance ended and I love the boss energy this man has. Eager to see what the community comes up with... and what tech I can steal 🤣
He is pronounced: Lucifaa (short form:Faa) Lucifer is a different character, but not really too. Lucifer is a clone of faa, Lucifer killed faa long time ago to stop him, and after Lucifer died by the hand of bubs, Faa was brought back to life in Lucifer body by Belial (Dio and Jonathan style). They both looked exactly same to begun with. But this faa right now is in Lucifer body, with all of his powers and wings.
He's definitely gonna have a big focus on combat in his stance it helps his U into L destroy projectile same for his 236X moves. His U into H look like a good anti air too. Seems complicated but it also makes him interesting. Good vid as always, Jiyuna.
Just played 3 matches against him without ever seeing gameplay of him and got knowledge checked to death. That teleport, that fireball. His specials better have long cooldown because they are all crazy good/easy to use.
Sure they are crazy good but unless Lucifaa's player's defense is great, he won't use each special more than 2 times. Also using his U-stance also locks out his specials for a bit (but that's separate from cooldowns AFAIK).
if this was gear theyd give him an install where he gets 10 seconds of no cooldowns and builds right to 5 bars. that being said, give him an install where he gets 10 seconds of no cooldowns and builds right to 5 bars -sexyanimeboys20000
Yeah the slow cooldown when he starts takes some getting used to but when he reaches his full potential the reward is nice. So definitely a character that takes a bit more effort in the beginning for a nice prize.
I played him to S+ before/after work yesterday, and he feels pretty good once you've gotten enough of a feel for him that you don't have to stare at his CDs as much. Not having access to strong CDs as often as other characters have access to their H skills is definitely annoying, I wish he could combo into his stance moves from at least something that's not 2H or a CH, that would help mitigate that issue a bit. The stance in general seems very weak due to how hilariously long the startup is. Though none of that matters since his hitgrab is so fucking cool.
I’ve really been liking him, not gonna say I don’t have my “oh yeah cooldowns are like ten seconds” moments during combos, but I haven’t had a huge problem just keeping a mental note of what I’ve used. I do fight against a lot of monkey players though, easy to get to at least level 2 early in the round.
Ok fun fact about Cilius, NOT ALL BLADE LV REDUCE THE SKILLS CDs (for some unknown reason lv 2 and 4 only increase the dmg) also I think 13 seconds is a bit too much when normally ex skills have arround 8 and even at lv 5 as you said it's still quite long, not to mention the blade gauge builds super slow (it takes using all 4 specials in a row for just 1 level) and even if Ulti Skills are the saving grace for this character they don't build any gauge. 1st Impressions so far is that he feels kinda weak (even tho it's too early to say) but incredibly fun, can't wait to play more of him in the following days
3 reasons to play Lucillius: 1) 214M/H animation (grabs opponent's head and smashes it into ground). 2) Takahiro Sakurai's voice (ENG dub does not exist after all). 3) His utter disgust towards mortals (his partner quotes might be one of the best).
Himlethal Valentine, bro is basically Xrd ram. Floating attractive individual with huge floating swords, barely any cloths, and minimal to no emotional response. Also threaten to destroy the world
the skill cooldowns being in the top left is really messing with me now. really wish there was a UI option to just have them at the bottom of the screen.
Seems like any character that forces Lucillius to use BP to get out of pressure will have advantage on him in the early part of the round. If you don't have BP to convert Raging Strike, he doesn't really have a reliable avenue to end combos. Snowball character, indeed.
I've been leaning into Ulitmate skills, RS, and HKD with sweep/throw and stance on oki to give me time to get my cooldowns and levels up. I do like the fact he has clear strengths and weaknesses - I can only hope they continue with that path with the additional characters that get released. We don't need more Seox characters.
I dont know about what hes like for pros but for a casual hes super easy. All I do is button into special. If they block Im either plus or not punishable. Ive been getting lvl5 almost every match even the ones I lose.
People really downplayed this character hard just because they saw “long skill cooldown”. Been playing him all day since he dropped, but his level ups (which happens fairly quickly literally just use skills don’t even have to bother with stance stuff unless opponent starts getting passive) negates this pretty easily by just level 3. Factor in how SAFE his buttons are, can be effective at any range, and has great damage/carry/Oki setups His only real weaknesses are he is at his weakest at round start by design since he is a snowball character and he doesn’t have a meterless DP. Otherwise he just snowballs hard once you feel comfortable with the character. He doesn’t feel like a “knowledge check” character like say Avatar Bel when I can do safe stuff and time is objectively on my side.
ULT skills giving him sword bar wouldn't be a broken buff. 50% meter for .5 sword level and 100% meter for 1sword level. More balanced than giving him install super that gives him full sword meter even for a short time also I realized is this why they removed the cooldown penalty on skill buttons so they can put Luci with this gimmick? imagine him being in base GBVS and when you use skill buttons instead and its 15-18sec cooldown on level 0 swords lmaooooo
Playing a lot of Soriz when he was free, I can tell with confidence that “build this resource to get stronger in every round” mechanics aren’t suited for this game in general. You are either dead before being able to use that gimmick or don’t need it to win
Soriz doesnt have such a mechanic. If you mean his machismo, it is pretty much irrelevant unless you plan to install every round as well as the damage increase is incredibly insignificant both in versus and rising.
Question as I'm still relatively novice with fighting lingo.. I understand when people mention "Down 4 or back 3" But I've seen a lot of people mention 6L which I assume is dash light?? But what does the 6 correspond to? Or like 5M? I appreciate any response! Also great vid Anime!!
6 is forward (towards the enemy) - the real terminology for a dash light is 66L (where the 66 is dashing) or 66~6L (holding forward after initiating dash), but folks might've started shortening it in conversation. 5 is not holding a direction, so 5M is a medium attack without holding a direction - some characters may have a different 6M attack, so it can be important to differentiate. (5 is also just the default notation if an attack doesn't have a directional input it requires - even if you can hold back while doing a 5M, you still write it as a 5M.)
@@vavakxnonexus I appreciate you! I had a buddy last night mention it’s basically numpad inputs for the left side and I thought my brain was gonna explode lol.

Similar, except he can build his wincon on block or in neutral, whereas Manon has to be winning. He’s more like Jamie, but doesn’t need to make himself negative in order to level up and has the highest midscreen damage rather than the lowest
