I just now learned the story behind this song. I had no idea that Scott had originally done it as a solo song and the STP re-recorded it under a different name. I was just watching the closing credits of “Bug” and it struck me.
Lyrics - Leave me here I'm okay I just got back from Hell today Open doors Feeling like Hours they pass Try to fly Leaving home Steven's gay Not much more To contemplate Nothing's changed Nothing's real Must have more Diet pills Wonder Wonder Wondering Have you ever been? Ever been? Beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful day Beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful day Everything Out of sync Who am I? Who is she? We'll stay home We're okay Safe and sound Commiserate Summer school at the astral plain One more class to levitate Doing well Feeling fine Marching late Higher light Wonder wonder wondering Have you ever been? Ever been? Beautiful beautiful beautiful Beautiful day Beautiful beautiful beautiful Beautiful day
I always thought they should have done an album with this vibe, this song is actually better than most that were chosen for No. 4, all of their outtakes actually.
The 2006 William Friedkin movie "Bug" lists this song as performed by Scott Weiland on the soundtrack. So if Scott re-titled it when he put it on his solo album, is the version in the movie different from the original demo and the track on Happy In Galoshes?
Its cool but I see why it was left off the album. It doesn't really add or detract from No. 4. I also think Scott's "keeping up with the Joneses" adds more to the song than the STP version. Its a better Happy in Galoshes song than a No. 4 song

Try to fly
Leaving home

To contemplate
Nothing's changed
Nothing's real
Must have more
Diet pills
Wonder Wonder Wondering
Have you ever been?

Out of sync
Who am I?

We'll stay home
We're okay
Safe and sound
Commiserate
Summer school
at the astral plain
One more class
to levitate
Doing well
Feeling fine
Marching late
Higher light
Wonder wonder wondering
Have you ever been?
Ever been?
Beautiful beautiful beautiful
Beautiful day
Beautiful beautiful beautiful
Beautiful day
Definitely one of STP/Scott's best!
Reminds me of the Beatles, Sgt Pepperish. I honestly thought it was a cover till I read the lyrics.
I know this is 2 years late, but I have had this song since way before Happy in Galoshes existed.
this kicks ass
Stp can Rock your day time or take you to a Fantastic world 🖤
