Lynn: I know. I have all those problems when I am back in the Bay Area. I have to drive about two hours to get somewhere outside of the yellow area and now since the accident I am afraid to drive out on that scary road. And the Park Superintendent wrote me back in response to my letter complaining about that ranger and said that they would be herding us damn pesky astronomers into pens marked "star gaze here only" or something like that. I don't think I'll be going back. So, I am in your shoes as soon as I return to the Bay Area. I hope you get to see the comet before it fades away. Take care and thank you for all your nice comments.
Hi Tsula, thanks for your kind and encouraging reply, I will not let those clouds beat me!!! In the same way, I hope you can overcome your anxiety about driving. It’s understandable after such a traumatic event , so take your time and try not to overthink about it, as this will only make it harder. Later, when you feel ready, take a nice sunny day with good weather and have a go, you can always turn around and come back with no pressure to be anywhere. In the same way your equipment is slowly coming back to you, I feel sure you will slowly return to your adventurous driving, after all it was due to a series of unfortunate events and NOT your fault!
As to those park rangers, we “Pesky Astronomers” can manage without their
sort of help and I’m sure there are other places much more welcoming, with equally dak skies….Here’s to finding them! Take care and don’t worry it will all come good 🤗🌙✨
This is a fantastic comet. I was able to find it with the unaided eye and photograph with my phone with a 3 second exposure. Beautiful! Thanks as always Tsula!

Thank you! It snowed here yesterday and cleared out the terrible smoke which I was grateful for. Tonight I went out right after sunset and scanned the sky with my binoculars. Once I found it I was able to see the comet with my naked eye and it got much easier once twilight ended and before the moon got very high. It was very cool that I got to see it again but it is dimming as it fades away from earth. I'm glad you got to see this beautiful comet too.
Thanks so much. Much needed information in your video. I've been out three times trying to photograph Tsuchinshan. Always arrive well before sunset and stay long after. I'm in the brightly lit South.

Thanks Tsula. I imaged the comet on the 15th with our family DSLR camera and a kit zoom lens. I used the app Sky Safari to help me find it. I could not see the comet by eye. Its getting dim fast. I appreciate your words of wisdom.
Hi Craig: Thanks. I'm glad you at least got to get a photo of it with the family DSLR and zoom. The comet is moving away fast and getting dimmer. I went out last night and there were many clouds but I managed to get my eyes on it very briefly before the clouds covered it up.

I am just gonna be using my cell phone on a tripod. I’m gonna try five seconds maybe 10 then 15 and then maybe all the way to 30 seconds and see what comes out the best.
I’m also going to be using my 4 inch F5 refractor. This might be even more ideal since it’s very short and only 500 mm focal length producing 13 power with a 38 mm. Ep I also have a 2 inch 56 mm piece which can achieve 8.9x which is pretty much identical to binocular view, but I’m not sure I can fit my camera adaptor around the eyepiece but I’ll give it a try

Thanks, Joe. I didn't try to lower the magnification on the 90mm refractor because it only accepts 1.25 eyepieces and I liked the wider view I could get with the 135mm lens but you should be able to get some good shots with that extreme wide angle eyepiece if you can get your camera on it. Good luck!
Great video. From UK, almost impossible to find. Travelled around locally for a suitable place to look. The nights have not been great but tried on Tuesday 15th, Thursday 17th & Friday 18th at 3 or 4 different locations.
Thought Thursday would be the best night as clouds started to clear as night falls & you could see Venus & Arcturus just after sunset but I'd be blowed if I could find it. Not even with a pair of binoculars. I thought if it's that hard it cannot be that bright! Gave up around 7:30 when it was quite dark & Venus had disappeared below horizon. Tonight (Friday) I was surprised the clouds cleared again so another go, another place. I held very little hope due to being unlucky Thursday. Surprise surprise I found the comet! only after some time looking. Very faint though & pretty small. Needed binoculars to locate, certainly no naked eye object. Wasn't really worth getting excited about but I was happy I found the comet & seen it too! Should've took my camera with me, may have caught it in a long exposure but alas went straight from work :( I think that's it now, rain is forecast next couple of days!!
Well, you were certainly persistent. I think between the moon being just one day past full along with the comet moving away from us that it is coming harder and harder to see it. I just saw it for a couple of seconds two nights ago with my naked eye before it was completely covered by clouds. Then it snowed today and yesterday. Maybe I will get one more chance tonight to see it. Sorry your efforts were not better rewarded.
I found this comet a few days ago from Tacoma, Washington. Looking to the west from Puget Sound I got some great photos with a Fujifilm X-S20, and a Pentax K-2 MK 2. I got these photos through some hazy clouds around 7:30 pm to just after 8pm when the comet set. It wasn’t as good as Comet Neowise but was still a great comet. ❤
Last night, October 15, in my neighborhood 25 miles west of Chicago (Bortle 8) I could just barely "sense" where the comet was with my naked eyes. This was after I'd located it in binoculars; I would never have spotted it if I hadn't found it with binoculars first. It was a nice sight in 15x63 binoculars against the darker sky about an hour and twenty minutes after sunset.

Hi Tsula, You are sooo Lucky to be able to have a GR8 View of the Comet and living in a gray and blue (no light pollution area ) as for Moi, I my dear am in a X-Mas Tree lit State called Florida LOL.... Unfortunately I have not been able to see it for the past 3 days sighhhh. What's worse, tomorrow is the Full Moon 10-17-24 😢 But! I will not give up, I still have until 10-21-24. Once again Awesome Video & Nice work on the pic. Will you be putting any of them for sale do you have a store shop? Oh, one more thang, you mentioned Satellites when you did the Photoshop, were those Real? Reason I ask is because when looking up with the naked eye Ever since 10-11 I been noticing several little lights (red/orange) moving very fast above in the sky. I thought it was the space station. Hello TFS: Thank you! I know I am lucky to be able to observe here under dark skies right from the driveway. I got clouded out tonight too but I'm grateful because it was getting dangerously smokey tonight from nearby fires. I hope you get to see the Comet before it fades away. Those were definitely satellites in the photo. I have seen the Space Station a few times and it moves very fast and is very different looking from the satellites to me. I don't know what the red/orange lights are that you have been seeing. Take care and best of luck on seeing the comet.
This year has been a great year for astronomy. First it started with the Solar Eclipse visible through all of north america, then we had the May 10th aurora storm, plus a few more mixed in. Then we had a partial lunar eclipse visible, then we had another great aurora storm, now we have this comet, plus another on the way! What more could we possibly ask for?
All true! Wonderful year for astronomy EXCEPT that darn T Coronae never went nova as predicted. And I'm still waiting for a supernova one day.
@@tsulasbigadventures yea that is sad, hopefully we will see it! they said early 2025 t coronae will go nova.
@@brodymk45 I have been looking at T Coronae since March when I had to stay up very late to wait for it to rise. So, it will have to happen at least after March. Let's hope so because I want to see it.

Saw the comet here in Connecticut USA tonight but tail was not visible. 😢
That's a shame. I saw it for a few seconds before it got covered by clouds but I was able to see the long tail.
So how long will it take for atlas comet to be back now that we found that 80,000 years is wrong?
According to NASA new data suggests that the path of Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS may take it out of the solar system altogether-- ie it may never return.
At 1:25, you don't need to find a special dark sky because the sky is already light poluted by the moon until approximatly 20.October.
But good general info in this video anyway.
stay away from yellow or red and here in UK I AM IN A RED ZONE AND I USED TO SEE THE STARS CLEARLY BUT NOW WITH DAYLIGHT LIGHTS ON DURING THE NIGHT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE ANY .possible to see it if i go to coast maybe?
That's sad. The coast would be better because at least over the water there shouldn't be any light pollution.
Been trying for a week. Clouds, lights. Just cant find it even with 3 stargazing apps
That's a shame. The clouds make it very difficult especially as the moon gets brighter. I saw it tonight very briefly in between some thick clouds.
I'm off to wingreen/cranborn chase south Wiltshire England tomorrow the 17th bortle 3 with a 360 view' bortal 2 a few hundred feet lower 90 minutes drive for me, personally i can spend hours looking at the moon.
That sounds like a great place to see the comet and admire the moon. Good luck to you.
