  • Watch as we unbox, setup and review the Nest Temperature Sensor. This will work with either the Nest Thermostat E or the Nest Thermostat 3rd generation (or Later) models. It will not work with the 1st or 2nd Generation Nest Thermostat.
    If you are unsure which Nest Thermostat you have, nest has a guide:

    This is exactly the thing I needed. My nest is in the hallway and the kitchen / living room is never the same temp as the entryway. This is gonna solve my problem. Thank you!!

    Great Video..you answered a question I had about setting up sensors when you have more than one Nest in the house. Thanks

      Thanks! I appreciate your comments and am glad it was helpful. After a week the sensor also learns, just like the nest thermostat, it lets you know, for example, my son's room has the sensor and on average it's 4 degrees cooler than where the Nest Thermostat is, and it tells you this from the Nest App.

    I assume they don't have motion sensors in them like ecobee to where it will set the occupied room to the desired temperature.

    Not a fan of This addition to the NEST family. Since the NEST thermostat controls all the radiators in my house simultaneously, this will probably cost me money. I wish they would create a smart radiator-knob like Tado. That way I can make sure the bathroom is only heated when I actually want it to...

      Is it not an option to combine one Nest thermostat and the Tado radiator knobs all connected to Google Home and set up routines there?

    Very good video, I will buy one now. Why did you cover up the bar codes? This information cannot be used by anyone but you?

    • @AdKatTech

      Yes. I covered the codes. Just keeping things private.

      you can set the times and temperatures to go on and off. Look in the settings

    Now if they could get these sensor to connect and control the dampers in the room or in the duct work itself, this would actually be cost savings.
    Have to start somewhere I guess.

      imlon2 that's what I was trying to say above. Need to sell a vent/damper replacement system with the device

      There are other systems that can do that and control the dampers directly.

    I bought the sensor. The schedule set up for it sucks. It only lets you choose 4 preset times for the thermostat to use the sensor rather than allowing you to choose the hours to fit your schedule.

    • @AdKatTech
      @AdKatTech  6 років тому

      Give it time, I think they will change/update the 4 presets to allow you to set the time you want to use the sensor/thermostat.

    If put in a room which has always been about 3 degree off from the main room which has the nest thermostat, then the new sensor would control the a/c and make the room 76 and the great room 73. Not really a great thing. Needs to control dampers like in a zone controlled system.

    • @AdKatTech
      @AdKatTech  6 років тому

      It's not meant to control HVAC dampers, it's a $39 sensor made to keep your thermostat at a temperature in a certain room or rooms.

      That's what I mean. If you have a room which is always a little warmer than the room with the thermostat, this device will cool down the whole house untill the new device reaches the temp set. That means that the thermostat room might become cooler by several degrees in order to make the new devices room reach it's set temp.
      Without device.
      Kids room =78. Thermostat room =76
      With device
      Kids room=76. Thermostat room =74
      Zone system with dampers needed to make all rooms 76

      URimagefl amen! Adjust your dampers. This is a bandaid and a step in the wrong direction! I would like to see some low cost damper control. But really I only have to change my dampers a few times a year. One for heat one for ac. Have them marked as well as returns.

    I missed the battery tab and don't have the barcode! Is there any other way to set it up?

    This only works in Canada and US. Unfortunately, I didn't know this. Money wasted.
