Been waiting for this for the mud room door to the garage. Currently have regular round door knob which makes it difficult to open with items in my hand. The big lever will make it easy to open with my elbow. Also we lock that door at night and if I get home late from work and the door is locked I will need to call the wife to come down to open door. That if I don't have the key on me. Can't wait to get this installed.
Looks like a great option for indoors, now if we could have a double-sided version for places like backyard doors so someone can't just reach over the gate and unlock the smart lock manually. I don't understand how no one makes something like that yet.
Is it possible to use this in conjunction with the U100? As in would there be enough space? I’ve been wanting a Smart Lock but sort of think they’re pointless if you still need to unlock the actual doorknob too but with a key.
Just got the lock installed... You mentioned it can be rekeyed but can't find that anywhere in the documentation (which are my only complaint as they are non-existent for a printed copy and overly simplistic on the video and PDF user guide). I'd like to rekey to my existing house key if possible. Great video, usually you are my go-to for apple home stuff and this is another winner 👍
It would work independently from the deadbolt. Unless you have an Aqara deadbolt lock, then you could automate them: when one unlocks, unlock the other.

Silly question: I'm considering getting one of these for a slatted gate for mail deliveries, so I can give the postman a temporary code to leave parcels inside. Wondering if it ALWAYS stays unlocked from the inside? The risk if it does is that people might be able to squeeze their hands through the gaps on the gate, and if the inside is unlocked have access to the mail. Thanks!
Sorry to bother you, but if you have some time, I would appreciate one measurement to see if it will fit on my door. My deadbolt is pretty close to my latch lock and I want to see if this would fit. Could you measure from the center of the fingerprint reader to the top of the lock? Thanks!

Only issue I see is it's IPX4 rating, the X meaning no data for solid particle protection i.e. dust, and 4 meaning only splash protection for water. II wouldn't use a IP4 rating electronic lock for an external door if there was any chance of rain hitting it. It really needs an IP66 rating for I would consider it for my external door use.

I do not have an M3 Hub (but will consider getting one if that will allow this feature). I am on bluetooth or HK. My use case: I get a lot of deliveries and I need to unlock my door manually via app/HK when I get a delivery so that the delivery guy opens the door and places the package. I can’t have the lock auto lock in a few seconds as typically the delivery guys will let me know they are at the door when they are a minute or two away and it takes them another minute or two to figure out which door they need to open. I need to unlock the door and it should only auto lock after X number of minutes. Hoping to figure this out as I now have 3 of them (shipped overseas from the US) and it doesn't look like this feature is available which would make these useless for me (I thought they would have it given the U100 does!). Super annoyed.

does it open the door when heated over 200°C? what happens when you short circuit it? does it open can you break the handle? so much a lock does not much is tested here...
Here in Ireland we have doors and locks where we lift the handle before being able to turn the lock. This also pushes pins out into the door frame. What lock would work best for these doors?

So, can the door handle be lifted upwards? Seems the unlocking simply engages the door handle, and leaves the user to actually retract the bolts (which is why battery lasts as long)?
If you had the option to install any smartlock on your front door which one would it be? Looks like you have the encode plus on the front door and the homekey would be nice. However, in some recent videos you say you like the fingerprint reader option more. So would you pick the U100 now? But then the Encode plus is more reliable than the U100?
I do like the U100, but I like Schlage because it supports Thread. I currently still have the Encode Plus on my front door, but I'll probably switch it out to something different sometime in the near future. Home Key still works great but my family says the keypad is not as responsive as it once was (been using it for a few years now). I have not decided on what I will put there to replace it.
It holds an IPX4 rating and does have a weatherproof seal on it. However I'd be nervous using it on a gate door fully exposed to the elements. I think it would be ok under a porch or an awning, but IPX4 wouldn't make me super confident to put it outside in the elements all year.
If you have this as the latch lock AND a deadbolt model (such as the U50 or U100) on the same door, could you pair them so that if one lock is successfully unlocked (by any method) the other one unlocks too? If that can't be done now, it would be a great feature in a future update.
Level Lock is for a deadbolt. This is for the door knob/lever. If you have a deadbolt AND a doorknob that you want to make both smart on the same door, you could do that if you wanted. If you went that route, I think the best scenario would be to use an Aqara lock for the deadbolt also, paired to an Aqara M3 Hub. That way you could configure an automation in the Aqara app to unlock/lock one of them with the other. You could do the same automation in HomeKit or something else but it would probably all work fasted and most reliably through the M3 hub.
wish they just took the design of the U100 and use that as a base. this lock seems kind of plasticky and bulky. also wish they updated the u100 to use matter over thread
Is there any sensors in the lach ? Aqara D100 (for exp) has some of them and it is the the most reliable way to understand that door is really closed. Maybe there is some of them ?
Also wondering this. I have zero interest in auto locking doors, just need to know before buying this if I can turn off autolock completely, if I can lock the door manually, and how easy that is to do. If I need to use an app to lock it’s not gonna work for me
@@ChEcKiSs Technically, yes you can lock the door from the inside simply by pressing the button on the top. If the door is unlocked, that means it is currently in Passage Mode, and pressing the button will lock the door and disable Passage Mode (enabling auto-lock). Currently, the only way to turn OFF auto lock is to put the lock in passage mode.
Anyone having issues with homekey? I connected without the m3 hub using matter. Apple home says this accessory has not been certified to work with HomeKit so some features may not be available. All features work except homekey.
Same for me! Have open a ticket with Aqara. I have a U100 also. U300 show not certified and only Homekey card not working. Homekey also not working anymore for U100. The access code from Home app working fine.
@@kevinberthiaume0 I factory reset and then added straight into HomeKit prior to linking to the aqara app not following the instructions and it worked. Give that a try and let me know if it works for you. It still says this accessory is not certified to work with HomeKit.

As far as Aqara hubs go, it can only be connected to the Aqara M3 hub since the M3 is the only Aqara Hub that supports Thread as a Thread Border Router. That will give you some advanced features in the Aqara app like remote control and automations. That said, no hub is required as the U300 will connect with the Aqara Home app via Bluetooth if you don't have an M3 hub.
I noticed the interior of the door lock doesn't have a manual lock option? If its installed on a garage door in passage mode, can you lock it from inside once you've gone into the house without using the app/garage facing interfaces?
If the lock is unlocked, then it is in Passage Mode since it defaults to auto-lock otherwise. When the lock is in Passage Mode, a simple press of the single button on the inside will lock the doors and disable passage mode.
@@ShaneCreates Thanks for the clarification. So after you lock it from inside and it disables passage mode, you'd have to reenable passage mode again if you wanted to go in and out. My use-case would be, say you're working in the garage and would come in and out for whatever reason, you'd lock the door from the inside at the end of the night to go to bed. Then the next day you'd have to open the door and re-enable the passage mode to resume whatever you were doing and going in and out?, rather than just unlocking from the inside button? Or can you set it to where additional unlock for passage mode can be as simple as just the button tap and not passcode re-entry? Reason I ask is I'm smart home all the way but my fiancé is not and would you the simple functionality of it. Appreciate your time.

There seems to be no way to adjust this without using passage mode, that yes had to be reactivated every time after the door has been locked. Not sure I will be keeping this as I prefer to just unlock and lock the door when I want.
Flopping around?? Like it's night screwed in tight enough? If I recall correctly, the lock comes with two different sized screws for attaching the front of the lock to the mounting bracket, depending on the thickness of your door. Maybe you used the longer ones and the shorter ones would fit your door better?
@@ShaneCreates sorry if I wasn’t more specific. It’s the handle itself attached to the key pad. I needed to swap its orientation to alight with my door. I unscrewed the screw to reorient it, after I put the screw back in, the handle just flopped around. The screw had lock tight on it. I’m wondering when I was adjusting it, the screw is too loose. Does the screw need to be screwed all the way in or does it need to interact just enough to give rigidity. It’s a befuddling design.

I really trusted your review and bought the lock. It got bricked and unable to reset. A lot of bluetooth issues and Homekit integration issues. I should never trust these paid reviews. A piece of crap.
I get approached by numerous companies every single day. I reject about 95%. I only collaborate with brands that I actually like and would never recommend a crappy product simply for a sponsor. I still use this lock and it has been great for me. Zero connectivity issues and it's been flawless in homekit, just like nearly every Aqara product I've used. I've also heard from many other people that use this lock and also like it. That said, I'm very sorry that you have not had the same experience. If you have a defective product, you should reach out to Aqara's customer support and try to get a replacement.
@@ShaneCreates Aqara support never replies to emails. I have posted my review on Amazon with a video. I have never seen such buggy software and poor instructions. Unable to reset. Apple Home registers this lock as "Not supported." There are multiple complaints on U300 in Redditt. Very disappointed!

I wish passage mode was controlled in the app. I would rather repurpose that interior button to be a “lock toggle”. All it does is lock, or unlock, the lock. That’s it. It’s just software so this should be possible if Aqara listens to customer feedback. 😅. I just think a Lock/Unlock button is much easier to understand.
I completely agree. I just bought one of these locks and, while it has a great design and seems almost perfect otherwise, the fact that it will always re-lock 10 seconds after it has been unlocked makes it pretty close to a dealbreaker. I replaced an exterior door that didn’t have a lock on it previously. It has a number of people using it. I just want it locked at night or when we are gone. Now I have to go out there every morning in person and set it into passage mode manually so the door can be used the rest of the day.

I don't think that's an exterior door lock since it is only a latch. You need a deadbolt to secure that lock. Also, the design is horrible not to mention the fact that it is made out of plastic. Technologywise it is not bad at all but I definitely wouldn't recommend it.
I was wrong about the material. It's actually made of zinc alloy. A deadbolt would be a different device. If you have a deadbolt, you need a smart deadbolt lock. This is to replace a latch style lock.
Damn near all locks that use a key can be picked within seconds. Let’s be honest, if someone is going to break in, they’re just going to break a window or kick down a door. They’re not going to sit there and pick your lock 😂. Just being honest.

I'm not sure if I'd use it outdoors fully exposed to the elements. It holds an IPX4 rating and they say "for optimal use, we recommend installing the lock under a protective cover or shield."

Good news! Aqara has bestowed this feature upon us by way of firmware update. You can now set auto lock time to 30 sec, 1 min, 5 min etc...

Does this lock support doors with two holes (one for door knob and another for deadbolt)?
Yes it should be fine as long as you have enough space. Check out the specs and measure the gap in the holes on your door to be sure.

Google Smart Multipoint lock. There are several choices.

Yes! That can be done! I think this would be best with both locks paired to an M3 hub, and an automation created in the Aqara app.

The U300 is not intended for deadbolts.
Is there any sensors in the lach ? Aqara D100 (for exp) has some of them and it is the the most reliable way to understand that door is really closed. Maybe there is some of them ?

Also wondering this. I have zero interest in auto locking doors, just need to know before buying this if I can turn off autolock completely, if I can lock the door manually, and how easy that is to do. If I need to use an app to lock it’s not gonna work for me
@@ChEcKiSs Technically, yes you can lock the door from the inside simply by pressing the button on the top. If the door is unlocked, that means it is currently in Passage Mode, and pressing the button will lock the door and disable Passage Mode (enabling auto-lock).
Currently, the only way to turn OFF auto lock is to put the lock in passage mode.

Yes it would. You cannot pair this with the M2 hub because this lock connects via Thread (only available on the M3).

Anyone having issues with homekey? I connected without the m3 hub using matter. Apple home says this accessory has not been certified to work with HomeKit so some features may not be available. All features work except homekey.
Same for me! Have open a ticket with Aqara. I have a U100 also. U300 show not certified and only Homekey card not working. Homekey also not working anymore for U100. The access code from Home app working fine.
@@kevinberthiaume0 I factory reset and then added straight into HomeKit prior to linking to the aqara app not following the instructions and it worked. Give that a try and let me know if it works for you. It still says this accessory is not certified to work with HomeKit.

Yes you can set PIN codes in HomeKit. You just can’t set fingerprints or nfc cards without the Aqara app.

Can this be added to the Aqara Hub if I already have the hub?
As far as Aqara hubs go, it can only be connected to the Aqara M3 hub since the M3 is the only Aqara Hub that supports Thread as a Thread Border Router. That will give you some advanced features in the Aqara app like remote control and automations. That said, no hub is required as the U300 will connect with the Aqara Home app via Bluetooth if you don't have an M3 hub.

I noticed the interior of the door lock doesn't have a manual lock option? If its installed on a garage door in passage mode, can you lock it from inside once you've gone into the house without using the app/garage facing interfaces?
If the lock is unlocked, then it is in Passage Mode since it defaults to auto-lock otherwise.
When the lock is in Passage Mode, a simple press of the single button on the inside will lock the doors and disable passage mode.
@@ShaneCreates Thanks for the clarification. So after you lock it from inside and it disables passage mode, you'd have to reenable passage mode again if you wanted to go in and out. My use-case would be, say you're working in the garage and would come in and out for whatever reason, you'd lock the door from the inside at the end of the night to go to bed. Then the next day you'd have to open the door and re-enable the passage mode to resume whatever you were doing and going in and out?, rather than just unlocking from the inside button? Or can you set it to where additional unlock for passage mode can be as simple as just the button tap and not passcode re-entry? Reason I ask is I'm smart home all the way but my fiancé is not and would you the simple functionality of it. Appreciate your time.

@@CrohnerPlaysI just installed one today on my shop and I was hoping it would operate like a regular lock. Unfortunately it does auto lock every time. There seems to be no way to adjust this without using passage mode, that yes had to be reactivated every time after the door has been locked.
Not sure I will be keeping this as I prefer to just unlock and lock the door when I want.

Flopping around?? Like it's night screwed in tight enough? If I recall correctly, the lock comes with two different sized screws for attaching the front of the lock to the mounting bracket, depending on the thickness of your door. Maybe you used the longer ones and the shorter ones would fit your door better?
@@ShaneCreates sorry if I wasn’t more specific. It’s the handle itself attached to the key pad. I needed to swap its orientation to alight with my door. I unscrewed the screw to reorient it, after I put the screw back in, the handle just flopped around. The screw had lock tight on it. I’m wondering when I was adjusting it, the screw is too loose. Does the screw need to be screwed all the way in or does it need to interact just enough to give rigidity. It’s a befuddling design.
@@ShaneCreates if you go to 3:55 of your video you start talking about the handle orientation. They you’re unscrewing and screwing in after reorienting your handles. I’m having the issue with the handle screw below the wire

My current lock is wifi enabled, but is installed on an atrium door, which is decently far way from its access point. The router it's connected to is a thread border router, anyone know if thread is better/worse for distance than wifi?

I really trusted your review and bought the lock. It got bricked and unable to reset. A lot of bluetooth issues and Homekit integration issues. I should never trust these paid reviews. A piece of crap.
I get approached by numerous companies every single day. I reject about 95%. I only collaborate with brands that I actually like and would never recommend a crappy product simply for a sponsor.
I still use this lock and it has been great for me. Zero connectivity issues and it's been flawless in homekit, just like nearly every Aqara product I've used. I've also heard from many other people that use this lock and also like it. That said, I'm very sorry that you have not had the same experience. If you have a defective product, you should reach out to Aqara's customer support and try to get a replacement.
@@ShaneCreates Aqara support never replies to emails. I have posted my review on Amazon with a video. I have never seen such buggy software and poor instructions. Unable to reset. Apple Home registers this lock as "Not supported." There are multiple complaints on U300 in Redditt. Very disappointed!

I wish passage mode was controlled in the app. I would rather repurpose that interior button to be a “lock toggle”. All it does is lock, or unlock, the lock. That’s it. It’s just software so this should be possible if Aqara listens to customer feedback. 😅. I just think a Lock/Unlock button is much easier to understand.
I completely agree. I just bought one of these locks and, while it has a great design and seems almost perfect otherwise, the fact that it will always re-lock 10 seconds after it has been unlocked makes it pretty close to a dealbreaker. I replaced an exterior door that didn’t have a lock on it previously. It has a number of people using it. I just want it locked at night or when we are gone. Now I have to go out there every morning in person and set it into passage mode manually so the door can be used the rest of the day.

Too thick for the exterior doors with storm doors
I don't think that's an exterior door lock since it is only a latch. You need a deadbolt to secure that lock. Also, the design is horrible not to mention the fact that it is made out of plastic. Technologywise it is not bad at all but I definitely wouldn't recommend it.
I was wrong about the material. It's actually made of zinc alloy.
A deadbolt would be a different device. If you have a deadbolt, you need a smart deadbolt lock. This is to replace a latch style lock.

Damn near all locks that use a key can be picked within seconds. Let’s be honest, if someone is going to break in, they’re just going to break a window or kick down a door. They’re not going to sit there and pick your lock 😂. Just being honest.
Pretty hard to access key if you don't know but anyway what if the battery dies or I accidentally reset the lock? I would use the key
Silly question: I'm considering getting one of these for a slatted gate for mail deliveries, so I can give the postman a temporary code to leave parcels inside. Wondering if it ALWAYS stays unlocked from the inside? The risk if it does is that people might be able to squeeze their hands through the gaps on the gate, and if the inside is unlocked have access to the mail. Thanks!

I'm not sure if I'd use it outdoors fully exposed to the elements. It holds an IPX4 rating and they say "for optimal use, we recommend installing the lock under a protective cover or shield."
