Great video Kenny! You have me really excited about my upcoming build. I have no doubt that this 6 ARC will do what we think it will. I appreciate the time and effort you are putting into this.
I'm glad to see you on the bandwagon!!! Saves me a lot of time and money!!! I've been shooting 6x45 for several years with good results shooting an AR platform and pushing pressures to 5.56 levels. It just wasn't quite good enough for the 1k distances even with 90gr bullets. I was just about to give in and try wildcat "6mm AR" when I heard SAAMI had just listed a new cartridge. I'll probably be grabbing a barrel when production picks up and you bandwagon jumpers have worked out all the bugs. Until then I'll keep watching you shoot and save me some money!!! Thanks and keep making the great vids.
Been debating on a prs cartridge. However brass and feeding issues have been the deciding factor to give this a try. Ive played with the 243 LBC wild cat and saw its performance in an AR a while back. Its basically dimensionally the same cartridge.
Pretty sick results brotha, so far the 6arc seems to be turning out. As soon as I burn up my 224v barrel 6arc here I come! Hopefully it’ll still be around by then😂. God bless and thanks for the video! 🇺🇸
Great shooting! I just got a 6mm ARC rifle, and it is so much fun!! Can't wait to get some of my hand loads done, so I can see what they can do. Factory ammo is incredible, but pretty expensive....
@@EagleEyeShooting im not surprised, I have one in a 22-250 1- 9 twist 26 inch bull barrel on a savage action. 55 to 75 grain shoots them all lights out. I went with 68gr Hornady hollow points in h4895. Oh and bought a Strike Eagle and put on top of it you done a really good video on that thank you.
Awesome shooting Brother!! Now if I will be able to get anywhere close to that when I finally get the barrel in for my upper I will be on cloud 9 hahahahaha!! Great work man!! Semper Fi
Nice Eagle Eye , when you play around with the seating depths and try all the brands of suitable bullets those groups will shrink a lot more for sure .
Pretty cool man. Making me seriously think this ARC in a bolt gun. I have a Howa 1500 in a KRG bravo. I’m looking to get a remage barrel to rebarrel my Howa. I’m looking to get a 26” MTU contour. Do I need to do work to my bravo stock if I’m adding a barrel nut?
I'd like to see accuracy with 55 to 70 gr bullets for varmint hunting, and chronograph results. Everyone shoots longer heavier bullets in this cartridge, I'd like to have one specific for ground squirrels and coyotes if the typical long throats on the 6mmARC will shoot the lighter bullets well. Maybe you could do a video on that? 😁
This is me being a bit cheeky. I think this might add to the theory of over stabilization reducing accuracy. If this bullet happened to be among some of the most accurate loads out of the 6mm ARC and it was pretty much a thrown together load. I am also guessing that the barrel twist is between 1/7 and 1/8 It might seem that the barrel twist on the 6mm ARC is too aggressive.
It depends on the bullet being ran. This shows it works well with the lighter 90 gr. bullets. The fast twist allows the use of the heavier bullets 105+ gr. that get you to 1000+ yards the slower twist just can’t stabilize.
I have been shooting 243 Winchester with 1 in 8 twist barrels for the last 40 years. And have shot 55 grain 105 grain. Over stabilization is mythology. In fact the opposite is true the faster anything spins no matter what it is the more stable it becomes . that is how gyroscopes work , bullets work and everything else in nature including the Earth and the planets and the Stars. What can happen is spin rate and velocity can increase the centrifical Force enough to cause the bullet to deform and or completely come apart. When that happens it doesn't fly straight. Most of the time destabilization is from not having enough rate of twist or RPMs to properly stabilize the longer bullets.
Nice shooting buddy. Any plans to run this cartridge through it's paces on an AR platform? I'm real interested in how it does. Looks like a good choice for target shooting as a bolt gun, for sure. Good info as usual.

Kind of interesting, my question to you is why would you get a bolt action for this round ? There are so many other faster and better arc in flight. The round was made for the AR so it would go into the mag well.
To assume this cartridge was only made for an AR is asinine, Hornady clearly states that when handloaded above 55k, this cartridge performs a lot differently. This video is proof of that. Folks in PRS can use this cartridge as a cheaper option with better reliable feeding. Many comments here state this
@@EagleEyeShooting ok ok , just asking . To me it's just another AR platform round. Where does it fit into the real world in a bolt gun , I don't see it out performing much of anything really , it can't seem to break the 3000 ft mark by much if at all.
There are several 6 mm cartridges that have been around forever that will shoot just as good with more velocity out of a bolt action. And can be built with the proper twist rate for the high bc bullets.
I am no expert but from my limited experience there would be one major difference between the two that you might notice is Barrel life, a second difference that might be more important is optimum barrel length. The .243 Winchester is a 308 Winchester, necked down to 6mm/243. There are a lot of demerits that come from this, one being increased barrel wear in comparison to the parent cartage. One more demerit that comes from necking down the cartage is that the time to complete powder burn increases. For example if the .308 Winchester powder is completely burned at 20" the .243 Winchester powder burn might be complete at the 26" mark, meaning the 'optimum' barrel length increases. This might not be a problem for most shooters but from my limited research, when a load has complete powder burn the consistency between shots increases. The 6mm ARC in comparison to the .243 Winchester, has less powder to burn and therefore has a shorter 'optimum barrel.'
In a bolt gun I don’t think there would be any advantages over the 243. Ballistics/speed just don’t really compare. Just as a quick reference I looked at quick load and what speed the 243 could run 3250 with a 90gr bullet so if you could find an accurate load with it you’d be pushing it 100-200 yards farther I do believe.
Ballistically the 243 will out perform this cartridge, I've jumped on this for a different reason. PRS, barrel life, reduced recoil and can shorten throw for faster follow ups without the headaches of feeding issues the 6 Dasher or 6 BR cartridges have. Seems to work well with my factory 308 AICS mags. Just need to put a stronger ejector spring or use this in a CRF action like a Big Horn.
Eagle Eye Shooting yeah copy that. advantages in long range shooting could cover a broad arena of shooting styles. Other than being a 6mm projectile that’s where the similarities end. Really no comparison in my opinion.
Hey man i have a savage 110 tac 20” 308 and im just getting into long range shooting ive got my load dev down to sub 3/4 moa idk if im even a better shooter then that at this point, my question is about triggers for the savage, the way my finger touches the trigger i tend to cause the gun to trip the acutrigger safety before I actually comrpess the trigger safety whats a good safe trigger replacement thats a more traditional design thanks again
It being a new cartridge, ammo hard to find as well as folks like me just getting into, I think we'll here for folks testing its barrel life. Ill guess it'll be a tad less than 223
