In addition to Sills's legendary vocal and dramatic characterization of Elizabeth, there are also outstanding performances by John Alexander(as Robert) and Richard Fredericks (as the Duke).
Beverly was the ultimate singing actress and she doesn't disappoint here! Brava la Fenomena!!

@raigekimaru She held nothing back when she was acting, and she admitted it played a part in her voice not lasting as long as it might have; but how wonderful she was. I was fortunate enough to see her twice, in Traviata and Lucia.

I didn't know Beverly Sills could sing that dramatically
Elizabeth was one her finest roles
Although her instrument was not a dramatic one, she knew how to use diction to be able to sing roles that would not normally be associated with her voice. She admitted that singing the three queens shortened her career by ten years, but also added that it was never her goal to sing forever.
Beverly Sills 's vocal and dramatic characterization of Elizabeth was a magnificent tour de force.
I love how she's acting circles around the guys on stage and they just stand there and bark...silly.
This role helped her voice decline, but I saw her live in Cincinnati doing it, and it was riveting acting
