Wish I had gotten into this band while they were still around...I was a huge Secret Machines fan, and I was so crushed by Ben bailing on that band that I kinda had a weird hang up with SOSB and couldn't dive in. A friend of mine was always playing them, and went and saw them etc, but it took me until very recently to kind of let the music under my skin. I do wish that Ben had more prominent vocals on some of their songs though, because his singing was great, and also just a teeeny bit more guitar atmospherics instead of relying on the synthesizers so much. Interesting, though, that his brother Brandon's new band is very connected to this musically

Well their first album was so much a departure to what he was doing with the secret machines. I think it hurt this band TBH. It wasn't until Ghostory dropped and a few EPs after that until I got on board. I think it took them a few albums to find their identity - i.e. they didn't know what the hell they were going to do, they just wanted to make music - together. I think they feared embracing the culture they came from. They wanted to pave a new road, and that made their music a little bit less accessible to the rest of us.
