I feel like such a dingus for missing this band. I'd not heard their stuff until this morning - a friend played this song on his radio set last night and said a lot of people had asked for it. So he posted this video this morning. Ever since, I've been doing a deep dive into their music, and for the most part, I'm really loving it! RIP Benjamin Curtis, you, Alejandra, and Claudia made some beautiful music together!
How could I have known the god of my youth would come crashing down on my heart? I thought that I knew love that love was a scornful thing that fed on a fading flame that held the world together for me and when it died I fell apart The day we met there was a new fire whose heart had been drowning for so long When I was dark you found a glowing ember and set my world into a blaze again How could I forget? You saw the stars in me when I had sunk into the black you never thought to leave you were the drug to bring me out from a crushing sleep you told me all you saw was diamonds you told me that till I believed The day we met there was a new fire whose heart had been drowning for so long When I was dark you found a glowing ember and set my world into a blaze again And… You set my heart ablaze you set it all ablaze again (when I was dark) you set my heart ablaze you set my heart ablaze again The day we met there was a new fire whose heart had been drowning for so long When I was dark you found a glowing ember and set my world into a blaze again
Are you sure it's "and when IT died I fell apart" and not "and when HE died I fell apart" ? To me this sounds like it was about Benjamin Curtis, her band mate and partner, who died of T- Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, before this album was made. I realize that there are many lyric sites that have it down as "it", but I've found that several songs I found the lyrics to were incorrect, after listen to it with good headphones, or a good car stereo. This though, because it has that airy and floaty, smoothed over sound to it, makes it difficult to distinguish that one short word.
@@KOSMIKFEADRECORDS Forza Horizon soundtracks usually have a few damn decent songs on them. This happened to be one of them and yes, it is on Forza Horizon 3's soundtrack, I heard it myself and ended up getting hooked. It's just an amazingly dreamy song, shame the band broke up after Chris's death, because they were seriously frigging talented.

I first heard of them on NPR of all places. There was a short bio and then "Windstorm" played. I happened to be driving right past one of the local indie music stores, so I just went in and found DFD on cd. It then became one of those listen-on-repeat albums that cause me to be nostalgic for when automotive disc-jockeying was a thing ♥
This song is an amazing requiem to a lover, partner and collaborator. I feel so viscerally moved by it. Every note, every lyric. It sets my soul Ablaze.
Secret Machines was touring with On!Air!Library! in 2007 when Benjamin Curtis and Alejandra Deheza met. Interestingly enough Secret Machines was formed by brothers Ben and Brandon Curtis, while On!Air!Library! was formed by sisters Ali and Caudia Deheza. Ben and Ali left their bands and along with Claudia they formed SVIIB (named after a rumoured thieving guild out of Columbia). Ben and Ali were romantic until about 2010. They wrote this song together, but Ben never got to hear it on the radio as he died in 2013. This song, among many others, were released in 2016 on their last album, self titled SVIIB.
I wonder why such great music by SVIIB never got them wild popularity. So much more deserving than many two bit acts in You tube and certainly much more deserving than some of the multi-million dollar acts who can't really do good music.
Terrific is how School Of Seven Bells has to be remembered, this practically became my favorite track after many others, that were and still are favorite tracks, they will forever be a truly one of a kind band in all of music.

Please Alejandra, keep making songs! Don't matter the croud. Your song has healed my thoughts, my relationships and I know that every SVB fan agree with me! Benjamin's proud of you
I recently discovered this band only to find out about the tragedy they experienced... only to be shocked it’s origins was Secret Machines... one of the formative bands of my youth and one of my first albums. Love your music!
This song is almost magical, It makes me float, or drift from reality in a way. The melody is like dreaming wile awake? almost in a way, as though you set your alarm clock to the time you have to wake up for work and you hear it go off and you are in that stage where you are awake and know you have to get up and start your crappy day, but just lay there. and then start to drift trying to hang on to thoughts but you lose the feeling of time passing. and somewhere in the back of your mind, you are just happy being where you are.... drifting. And then the song ends.... And you jump back to this ... and realize you are an hour and a half late for work. Crap. did it again.
She is so talented with a beautiful voice. It's so sad the writer died. I followed this band. Especially when my husband got cancer for some reason it was the only band I related to. And when he died this album came out. I know it's silly but SVIIB really gets me out of my depression
Never played FH but my release radar did bring me this song in 2016 and has consistently been one of my most favourite songs ever since. Always in the top listened songs eaxh year since. Somehow, someway stumbled across a new copy of SVIIB in my local record shop here in Limerick, Ireland, and was so shocked to see it. Snatched it right up. What a song, what an album and what a fucking great band. School of Seven Bells forever.
How have I never heard of this artist until now??? Wow. I typically don't listen to much in the way of new music, so maybe I'm just out of the loop, but they're really good...
Movement. Momentum. Vibrations. Sound. To be alive is to be in motion. To be still is not. The vibrations of sound fade into the void when there is no one there to hear, but renew themselves in the individual having open ears and an open heart to hear. As hearts and minds increase in number we manifest our existence and establish its value with love through sense and sound. As we receive the momentum of life through the force of love we taste of its fruits and feel the joy of life's manifestation within ourselves. We are then able to give life back to the continuum of eternal love throughout the universe with our own unique imprint giving us validation as new individuals who are ever part of the ever increasing one. Love is infinite and ever increasing. When I hear Alejandra, Claudia, and Benjamin's music I feel infinite and eternal love ever increasing. Thank you Alejandra, for being so strong. Your strength has helped me in a difficult time. Benjamin's words will echo in the eternities through the power that gave him those words. Love...

thank you Forza for finding this song for me.
Same fam I found a play list with every song
Yesss I knew it sounded familiar
Yes! 🤣🤣🤣

Indeed! did a video driving to it on FH3 and it goes so well until that damn mazda came out of no where 🤣🤣🤣

The only thing as good as this band is the word dingus. Never heard it before.
This song is heavily underrated
How could I have known
the god of my youth
would come crashing down on my heart?
I thought that I knew love
that love was a scornful thing
that fed on a fading flame that held
the world together for me
and when it died I fell apart
The day we met
there was a new fire
whose heart had been drowning for so long
When I was dark
you found a glowing ember
and set my world into a blaze again
How could I forget?
You saw the stars in me when I
had sunk into the black
you never thought to leave
you were the drug to bring me out
from a crushing sleep
you told me all you saw was diamonds
you told me that till I believed
The day we met
there was a new fire
whose heart had been drowning for so long
When I was dark
you found a glowing ember
and set my world into a blaze again
And…
You set my heart ablaze
you set it all ablaze again (when I was dark)
you set my heart ablaze
you set my heart ablaze again
The day we met
there was a new fire
whose heart had been drowning for so long
When I was dark
you found a glowing ember
and set my world into a blaze again
