We have not yet finalized this kit. We need to put some miles on the truck to be sure everything performs properly. Then it's off to laser cutting and marketing. Expecting 2-3 months away. We may release some Beta kits sooner. Cost wise is expected around $3000 Thank you for the interest S.C.Lawrence
This kind of a dumb question but what's the gas mileage and can you still talk with that little engine cuz I owned an MK4 with this engine it was so slow I'm so surprised to see it even moved the truck
They are easily tuned to be quite fast. Some people make 450hp 650ftlbs. All with the diesel bonus, the less restricted the engine is, the better the fuel economy when cruising.
I find it such a shame that Diesel is so negatively viewed upon in north america for cars. This car here in europe would more or less only come with a diesel.
Hello Robert, and thank you for the reply. While we've been continuing with production of the kits and designing more kits in the past year, we've also suffered a loss of one of the brightest members of our business due to cancer. Due to this we have been a little slow to get new videos out and resolve the tach issue. We are currently reorganizing, and hope to have new videos and working tachometers soon. Thank you again S.C.Lawrence
Hello Dan We swapped out the original automatic transmission and in its place installed a 5 spd. manual transmission and transfer case from a 1997 Toyota Tacoma V6. We connected it to the VW 1.9 with our adapter and flywheel
Hello tattoolm, and thank you for the reply. While we can do it here, shipping may make it unfeasible. Option 2 is, we sell you a kit, and any local garage should be able to install it. Currently we are understaffed ( summer vacations ), so our email response is very slow. The best way to reach us is by phone at 519-938-9844. Or send us your phone number (thetoydoc@hotmail.com) and we'll endeavour to call you. Thank you again.
Hello Michael Sok, and thank you for the question. We are very confident that a VW 1.9TDi with a stage 3 or higher tune would work very well in a Sequoia. If you watch our video of the 40 series Land Cruiser powered by a stock 72hp VW (aaz) TD engine, it should give some indication of what a 150+hp. (alh) TDi engine should accomplish. After all, even though the Sequoia is 1000 lbs heavier, it's hard to get less aerodynamic than a Land Cruiser 40 series. The big problem with the conversion you are inquiring about is, the automatic transmission. At this point we cannot make the German engine ECU talk to the Japanese transmissions ECU. Without this conversation the transmission will refuse to shift gears. As they say "where there's a will, there is a way". It would get costly but, you could theoretically use a 2 Wheel Dr., Toyota automatic transmission (these are not run by a computer,) and run a divorced American style transfer case. Obviously this would mean you're for real drive would be working for my shifter rather than a pushbutton, and some custom interior trim pieces would need to be built. Before the end of spring 2018 we hope to upload a video which should prove that this motor can run a Sequoia. We are right now converting a Lexus LX450 over to a VW 1.9 TDi alh and a non-computerized a440 auto transmission from a 1988 Land Cruiser FJ60. (Availability of 2WD will be a bonus!) Although, at this juncture this will be a 1 off, no kit is planned for development. Thank you again S.C.Lawrence M.P.G. Conversions (aka. TOY Works Autocrafters) 519-938-9844

I'm in for a beta kit!
Which 5sp did you convert to? The one behind the 22re or a r150 with a r151 bellhousing?
We used a 5spd from a 2000 3.4 litre V6 Tacoma 4X4
What transmission did you used in this swap? I have a 1997 4runner, wanted to do this same swap.
