"Senior Citizen's Fight for Justice: PNB Bank Fraud Exposed | बैंक धोखाधड़ी की शिकायत"

- Yashpal Singh Datta, an 80-year-old man from Delhi, India, is alleging insurance fraud by PNB Bank and PNB MetLife. He claims that he was tricked into investing in a life insurance policy in 2019, when he was 75 years old. The policy required him to pay ₹1.5 lakh per year for five years.
Mr. Datta says that he did not need or want the policy, and that he was only persuaded to buy it because of pressure from the PNB Bank officer who was selling it to him. He also claims that the officer falsified his income and business information on the policy application.
Mr. Datta has tried to cancel the policy, but PNB Bank and PNB MetLife have refused to cooperate. He is now seeking help from the RBI and the insurance regulator.
How could this have happened?
It is possible that the PNB Bank officer was under pressure to meet sales targets. He may have seen Mr. Datta as an easy target, because he is elderly and may not have been familiar with insurance products.
The officer may have also been aware that Mr. Datta had a recent fixed deposit mature, and that he may have been looking for a new investment option. He may have used this information to pressure Mr. Datta into buying the insurance policy.
What can be done to prevent this from happening again?
The RBI and the insurance regulator need to take action against PNB Bank and PNB MetLife for their role in this fraud. They also need to take steps to protect elderly consumers from being exploited by financial institutions.
Consumers need to be aware of the risks of insurance fraud. They should always do their research before investing in any financial product, and they should never feel pressured into making a decision.

These victims appear to be basically illiterates but since they live in a metro city of dreams they look like literates.
It is a sad story that comprehension skills of learning any passage, writing skill have little value in cities and therefore they suffer.
My mother who is a senior citizen and we have been a victim of similar fraud by Pnb bank and Pnb met life insurance

I have taken PNB MetLife platinum policy I have to pay 250000yearly I got a wrong information from bank they told me even if you pay for one year you will get your money but now they are telling me something else and I want to cancel my policy kindly assist what to do it’s been one month I have taken this policy.
After receiving policy deed pls cancel the policy within free look period ( 15 days) by written as early as possible. Pls don't late.
This is absolute nonsense. Instead of wasting time fighting with PNB metlife, why not the woman Jagni or his son who is doing post graduation start working? I understand that father is too old to work but this woman or his son can easily start working and make at least 15-17 k per month if not more and that would easily take care of 1.5 Lakhs policy amount annually and can also make some extra money into the household. Living on rent is not living. Its barely surviving. They live in Delhi and the whole family lives on rent which the old man is getting. This woman Jagni needs to pull up her socks and start working instead of being dependent on your father when he is 79.
That being said, what agent did was horrible. That should have not happened and Government should take some steps to mitigate these actions and take strict actions against these agents contracted with Banks.
But this situation can be sorted out if Jagni or his son start working and take care of this policy. They just have to pay 3 years more as 2 payments are already deducted and can get benefits by 2029.

I'm pleased to inform you that this matter has been resolved. The insurance company's senior management decided to cancel the mis-sold policy and reimburse the family with the premium that was paid by them after the case was brought to their attention via this channel and further information about it was given to them.
