Case Description:
Mr. Patel retired from Polytechnic College Bhavnagar, Gujarat, and an amount of Rs. 55 lakhs were credited in July 2022 to his SBI Bank Account as retirement benefits.
He decided to invest this sum of money in a fixed deposit since he knew it will be needed for his 27-year-old son's higher education abroad.
He told SBI Bank personnel of his ideas, but it appears that SBI workers prioritized meeting their policy sale targets over clear and unequivocal instructions from their customer.
Mr. Patel's preference for liquidity in his invested amount was disregarded, despite clear instructions, and his money was instead invested in the SBI Life- Smart Annuity Plus plan in August 2022.
This investment was made against Mr. Patel's wishes and without necessity. It did not align with his needs and requirements, and it appears to have been driven by the personal interests of SBI Life and SBI Bank employees, disregarding Mr. Patel's explicit directions.
Furthermore, this investment has hindered Mr. Patel's ability to utilize the funds for his son's further education, which was his original intention. The misrepresentation has trapped his assets in a policy that imposes exorbitant surrender fees, which were not disclosed to him at the time of investment.
It is evident that the employees of SBI Life and SBI Bank were aware of his status as a retired government employee receiving a monthly pension payment exceeding Rs. 85,000.00. This clearly demonstrates that the annuity plan was improperly sold, as Mr. Patel already receives a substantial pension and does not require additional pension from any other source.
Mr. Patel only discovered the true nature of this investment when he visited the bank to withdraw the funds for his son's admission to Algoma University's graduate certificate program in project management at the Brampton Campus in Ontario, Canada.
Unfortunately, he was unable to access his invested amount due to the mis-sold policy's restrictions on withdrawals and the undisclosed surrender fees.
Consequently, despite having sufficient funds available, he was compelled to avail education loan for an amount of Rs. 20 Lakhs at a higher rate of interest @10% Per Annum from HDFC Credila.

This situation arose due to his trust in SBI employees, who were primarily focused on meeting their own sales targets and failed to consider his needs and requirements.

At the time of retirement when a senior citizen's retirement money comes to SBI or comes in his account, then the selected employees there, in the name of life insurance, forcibly get a policy done to earn their commission in which there is a locking period, interest is received but there is no certainty about the life of the senior citizen, they trap him for long periods of two-three, five years, four years, five years and his deposited money gets stuck in the locking period, this is what the employees of State Bank of India do, by forcibly taking a decision that your tax will be saved, you will have to bring it, they trap you in an insurance policy, be careful when you retire.
When mis-selling policies, these vultures put Aryabhatt to shame by giving you so many mind boggling figures and calculations of the interest and returns and other blah blah. When WE as victims question them they want to go through your “protected policy bond” to even tell you the surrender value!! बेचते समय पता नहीं होती क्या? सब मिलीभगत का खेल है। Maximum victims are senior citizens - the empty nesters.

Something similar happened with my father in 2020, retired teacher, they forced him to invest in sbi pension scheme, first they freezed the account when retirement amount was credited to account, and they told that to get your account working you need to invest in sbi pension scheme and now my father can't remove money till 2026, this is how the so called SBI scams the people, please if anyone in such situation, do not invest in such Schemes

I went to SBI for account opening, he said first deposite 3500 and he deducted 500 rupees for 1 year insurance policy.
He explain me like it is compulsary.
And in my second case me and my father went to deposite FD .

Shame on this man and not his son, I have seen lot of fathers who don't consult their money with children's thinking I know all. They silently go to bank to submit/withdraw money and dont tell anyone. If you think you know all then you face consequence for your actions and not blame others.

I don't see any benefit with the specified insurance plan, why did SBI bring such plan? With 30 lacs you get equivalent amount( amount provided on quarterly basis) as interest and can break the fd at any point of time.

You indeed mentioned very correctly, the plan is of no use to Patel Sir. His 30 lakh Fixed Deposit anyways would have given him the same returns. But because the branch employees were more concerned about their sales target therefore they lost their touch with humanity and decided to keep their morals and ethics to rest and sold this undesired and unwarranted policy to him. यहाँ के लोगों के bank account के साथ email तो linked होता नहीं है और ले लेते हैं annuity, liability जैसे भारी भरकम शब्दों वाले policies जिसे economists ही मुश्किल से समझें. इसमें गलती किसकी हुई, policy वालों को तो training ही मिलता है कि गंजे को कंघी बेच दे. जब इतने सालों से govt. job कोई करे और फिर भी झांसा में आये, तो गलती किसका हुआ. बच्चा तो हैं नहीं कि फुसला दिया. कोर्ट में एक दिन भी मामला नहीं टीका होगा. सारे signs आपने होश में किया ऐसा policy वालों ने कहा होगा. इस video से दूसरों को सबक जरूर मिलेगा, बस. Judges डांट कर भगा देंगे.

एक similar case में sbi life retire smart वालों ने धोखा किया था. Auto Pay का option नहीं होने पर भी unauthorized way में account से second premium Rs. 7,50,000 का निकाल लिया, जबकि victim का pension 65,000 के करीब है. फिलहाल sbi के शिकायत पोर्टल ने complaint number दे कर 10 दिनों में निपटारे का आश्वासन दिया है. उसी के बारे में search करते आपके channel पर आया. मुझे जानना था कि ऐसे मामलों में unauthorized way से premium debit करने की responsibility किस पर आएगी: bank पर या sbi life पर. धन्यवाद.

मैनें निराशा में ऐसी बात कही थी. इसके लिए क्षमा प्रार्थी हूँ. मैं भी एक similar case जान रहा हूँ, जिसमें customer की pension है 65,000 पर हर साल sbi life retire smart ने premium बाँध दिया है 7,50,000 का. उसी सिलसिले में search करते हुए आपके channel पर आया. अब sbi life वालों ने bank के साथ मिलकर auto Pay option नहीं होते हुये भी second premium unauthorized way से निकाल लिया है. SBI पोर्टल पर complaint number मिला है और within 10 days निपटारे का आश्वासन मिला है. देखते हैं क्या होता है. ऐसे subjects पर भी जागरुकता वाले videos की हमें जरूरत है. धन्यवाद sir.
