It is just plain fun to watch you guys. As an engineer with experience in construction and design, I continue to be in awe over what you are doing and your thought and execution processes. Can you imagine Coco Chanel interiors??? First, a turret roof, safe walls, then interiors. I was looking at Coco Chanel's desk that sold as the highest priced item at Ritz Paris's Furniture Auction featured at Architectural Digest online. I can only imagine how gorgeous the chateau was before it burned down. I hope Dan is going to decorate the chateau with Chanel in mind.

Psychologically, I wanted all the trees inside the Chateau gone on day 1. So, for me, personally, this was a landmark day. The momentum is BUILDING up. After the roof, plumbing, electrical, windows, and room by room renovation. Someone is going to live inside someday. It's a crescendo of anticipation. Your fan in Oregon.
Me too. The tree removal is one of the most satisfying aspects of the videos for me, next to the rubbish removal and roof and floors
he doesn't need to restore it entirely to live in it. he could probably actually move in right now with little work and it not be much different than the yurt he's in now. then he'd have to adjust his routine and just move all that stuff back out eventually, so it's somewhat pointless.

The Trees told a history of 40 years of neglect, waiting for someone to have a vision for history of France .

As a human who is often used as a climbing frame, I felt that!
Old barb wire, nails, screws, bullets, shotgun pellets are the bane of my existence when I am milling. It's rare that I do not have something embedded in a tree that I cut. It's murder on saw blades. In the right situation the blade can snap and whip around and hurt someone.
The arborist fellow is absolutely living his best life out there in the world. What a job!

Timber,the roots are still in the mortar joints.Its the highest point Dan's been and far enough to fall and not survive.

I know there will be sadness that some of the puppies have left, but be pleased for them that they have graduated to their new homes and lives.

Said another way, it's a highlight of your camera chops. Add to that Nick's remarks and tone as he goes along (so droll), and the choice of accompanying music, ......it's epic.

I am wishing for longer videos Dan!!! I know he can get a videographer for us who can do longer videos. I'm waiting for the tearing down of loose stones and then pointed up safe walls. Dare we even imagine plaster over the restored walls??? I CANT WAIT! Yep, Brian does need a puppy but they are all adopted. Who wouldn't want a Chateau Chaumont, former Coco Chanel chateau, born and bred puppy!?!

It just bugs me so much, I'm trying to grow plants at home and they are the BIGGEST butterflies, constantly dying on me and these darn trees on the 3rd floor of a burnt down chateau just growing straight out of concrete and bricks. How is that even possible😢😢.

That big tree would make beautiful “stepping stones” for a pathway through the garden with its dark centre and light outer rings. It does not take long for nature to reclaim spaces, but 50 years can make significant changes. (Like full grown trees in your house) 😊

I wish it was his last days. Dan & Brian were up on the top ledge of the chateau's left side when they were constructing the mansard roof recently. Their harnesses went back on this week once Nick came back to help. So, ame old risky behavior again. Better safe than sorry. One slip, and it's an awful death, for Dan or helpers.
It gives me the screaming ad dabs watching our Dan walking across that bit of wall, up so high off the ground, to cut the last tree down from inside the Chateau! The puppies are going to be so spoiled by their new owners. Removing the last of the trees from the building must be a great feeling. Such a massive change. There are some really beautiful oak planks from your trees that are going to decorate the walls etc in the chateau as you continue with the restoration. I can't wait to see where you use them.
I've been watching your channel since you purchased the place. I have to admit I originally though you'd bitten off a far bigger project than you could every finish. But I'm happy to be proven wrong. I have a good head for heights but I wouldn't have walked on that wall like that , especially when all he had to do was move the ladder over a couple of feet , at that height you only fall once .
