The last time we saw a Honda Passport was 2002, when it was a rebadged Isuzu Rodeo. Today, Honda’s making its own Passport. Like the Pilot SUV and Ridgeline pickup truck, the new 2019 Honda Passport is based on the Odyssey underpinnings. But despite its minivan roots, this 2-row SUV delivers an old-school feel missing from most modern crossovers.
A naturally aspirated V6 easily motivates the Passport. And, paired with a 9-speed automatic driving either the front or all wheels, this SUV can hustle. It outperforms the 4-cylinder engines found in many competitors. In front-wheel-drive guise, the Passport can also tow up to 5,000 pounds (although that number drops to 3,500 when all-wheel drive is added).
The Passport isn’t short on cargo space, either. 41.2 cubic feet of storage behind the rear seats is competitive, and 77.9 cubic feet with the rear seat folded should swallow any cargo you need to carry on a regular basis. Up front, an 8-inch touchscreen displays sharp graphics and runs Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Garmin navigation with live traffic data is optional and superb.
Honda Sensing-the company’s suite of advanced safety technologies-comes standard on all Passports. That means you’ll receive forward emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist on any Passport you choose to buy. While neither the NHTSA nor the IIHS have given the Passport an overall rating, CarGurus expects it to perform well, as the mechanically and structurally similar Pilot was named a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS.

Honda all day long over a Jeep or BMW. Think about how much problems you will have with a Jeep and BMW and how unreliable they are. Honda and Toyota are the smart choice.
New jeeps absolutely, it's horrific they carry that name badge still, should be fiat. And bmw? Crap all day long. But my 98 Cherokee which I bought with 7.4 miles on it brand new has 415k TROUBLE free miles and still runs like a swiss watch. My 2016 MDX and 2014 Accord Touring edition will never get that high of mileage. I dunno maybe but I drove this passport last Wednesday while getting oil changed on Accord and the engine is the bullet proof 3.5 which is great but it's not a tank the Cherokee was, for 40k I'd just get the Pilot and spend a bit more.
How about infinity's reliability? I am think QX50 as a comparison with Passport.
i would wait and see with this new passport in a few years. their nine speed transmission have been a headache for pilot owners.
Owned a 2013 grand cherokee never again in 2014 I traded it in for a 2014 cr v very basic but with awd and dealer gave me a set of winter tires and rims and never did the cr v had to stay in the shop for more than 30mins till 100k km, only oil changes and tire rotations. Definitely would consider the passport.

Just purchased a 2019 Passport Sport. Can't wait!!! Have own Honda's since 2006 my Pilot which at 256,000 is still running fine. I would never touch a Jeep
I've had a passport for 4 months and almost 15000 km of which was an 8500 km road trip. I looked at everything...new blazer, Q5, X3&5, Stelvio, mecan, grand cherokee and kept coming back to the passport. I don't need a third row. I like the 5000# towing capacity and added that hitch package. Gets as good a mileage as it claimed and sometimes better. 72 Ltr fuel tank means fantastic range. There's also the honda reliability factor. My spouse has a 2017 Civic EX-T and loves it bought from the same dealer who treats us like gold - Winnipeg Honda part of the Crown Auto Group....the plug for these guys is because they've earned it....I did at least 5 test drives some for as long as an hour, one at night to check headlight performance and every time they handed me a set of keys with a grin, said it's got lots of gas, come back when you're ready. For me this vehicle works. I traded a 2017 camaro ss on it.

I just brought home a '19 Passport Touring, 2wd, Obsidian Blue last week. Really liking it but at only 400+ miles; we'll see how she rolls. It is a fun ride. Came out of a '15 Highlander.
just bought a copper black pearl AWD touring passport 2 days ago. Its a sweet ride. We live it.
I love the boxy pilot. I think that's still the best looking SUV on the road today. I was super disappointed when Honda changed the body style of the pilot to look like a Momma minivan. ..broke my heart when I was ready to trade.
This passport is cute though. I need to visit one in person. Wish the back wasnt so pointed and more like the 2015 style pilot. 😑

Agree with you... looked tougher. These all look like station wagons. Really grossed out at their ridding of the gear shift. Not everyone wants to drive a computer.
I have a 2019 Passport AWD Touring with a Traxda 3.5" front and 3" rear lift kit with KMC 721 wheels and 265 65r17 Goodyear Duratracs and his passport is a beast. I also threw on a skid plate for added protection. Living in Socal I knew I was going to be a super weekend warrior more sand and snow not so much hard core rock crawling. Love it so far got 20k on it average mpg is 23-24 on the hwy.
How is the passport holding up? Would love to see pics of the lift and tires…….

cz luver thank you! I was thinking the same thing throughout this video! He lost all credibility early on. I can cross off his videos from my future watch list. The reasons someone should get a Jeep are very few; you absolutely need off road capabilities, lease it so it stays within warranty, and have plenty of time for dealership visits. Jeeps are an embarrassment to the auto industry. Just check out the many videos from very unsatisfied Jeep owners. If you still buy one, you should consider therapy to help you get through your Jeep ownership. You’ll need it!

This video is really well done. Points are direct and unambiguous. The information, opinions and conclusions are relevant. The host clearly gets his ideas across and is relatively unbiased. Also, the length of the video is perfect! Great job on a current auto review!
4784gperkins unfortunately, the comparison to the Passport is way off base. He totally avoided reliability and owner satisfaction. The two are not even in the same ballpark. Apparently, the host is not very well informed on Jeep history, and the nightmares of ownership. Jeeps are a disaster! That’s not biased. It’s factual. Let your fingers do the walking on the net. Insane numbers of complaints and trade-Ins of Jeeps. People can’t dump them quick enough. Might as well wipe with $50’s and flush your money down the drain!
Honda Passport please... I'll leave the Jeep Grand Cherokee for people who are not so smart with their hard earned money...

Roderick L absolutely! Honda’s have low long term cost of ownership, and high owner satisfaction. I could confidently pass down a 10 year old Honda to one of my kids knowing that they will get another 10 years of safe and reliable driving and not waste money on expensive repairs.
Passport is a great value under 40k. Grand Cherokee is long overdue for an update. Santa Fe’ has quirky styling inside and out, but great features for just under 40k.
I'd still take the passport over the cherokee & the X3... these vehicles will be junk while the passport still runs great.
The stop/start thing eliminates this vehicle. The Mazda CX-5 although smaller doesn't have it and I think makes more sense for more people. You can disengage the stop/start on the passport but you have to do it every time you start the car. Imagine this thing in stop and go traffic.
I was not aware that Passport comes with start/stop. Now I know why the declared mpg numbers are better than a Ridgeline/Pilot with the same engine.
My wife has a CX-5, it's nice if your under 5' 8" (my opinion). The CVT kills me, I hate it. But, over all it is nice if you don't pack too much, great MPG. With that said, I don't need two CX-5s, I'll be going with the Passport, it just check just about all boxes.

Hey Kid! When you get to be over 70 years old, you are going to love the large readouts on that "to large" digital display instrument cluster. These things aren't really being bought by your generation (You can't afford it.).

Shockingly, the front looks better than a CX5. Which is hard to do. The tiny lights on the back though are not a win. I’d take this in white color and elite trim.

I HATE tiny tail lights, why can’t Honda just put the big tail lights from the pilot to the passport?
Very nice ride! No CVT transmission either!!! I like it. Maybe trade in the 2014 CRV EX-L on one. 5,000 lbs towing is excellent feature.
The AWD is 5000 towing. The 2WD is 3500 towing.
Problem is 5000 is an expensive option that requires a transmission cooler.
So I just traded in my wife 2015 Grand Cherokee an for the 2022 passport.I wanted a bit more interior space but did not want another 3rd row vehicle ( I drive a RT Durango) The new jeep L was not appealing to us at all felt too long and big but the interior was very Luxurious. It really beat the passport in this section.We got a 2022 elite for $46000 dollars we could not get so much technology in most vehicle in this class. And it's a Honda I feel that we will have this for a long time to come. We average about 15 mpg no where close to the estimates that are given. We love the ride and the interior space my 6year old has no problem getting in and out of the car and his feet no longer touch the front passenger seat.
Looking for something to replace my Subaru Outback wagon... missing the truckiness (but not the unreliability!) of my Jeep. So glad they brought back the Passport. Love the towing capability and the fold-flat back seats, plus the squared-off windows (!!!) so I can actually SEE out the back sides of my vehicle! This is at the top of my wish list--I'll live with the mpg as a trade-off. Now to see if the dog's crate will fit ... that'll be the only potential deal-breaker.
I was so very close to buying a '19 Outback Limited/Touring, 6 cyl. Or waiting on the '20 refresh. So many OB owners told me online to go with the Passport or other. They said beyond the "honeymoon phase" they wished they'd not bought the Subie. The 4/6 cyl OBs I test drove, ran great. But I brought home the Passport Touring, 2wd last week. Fun ride so far @400+ miles. peace, e.
The EPA always underrates Hondas. I had a Ridgeline that was rated at 25 mpg. It routinely got 27-28
Reliability, bigger inside, and Honda resale value. No brainier for me. AWD Elite w/ the adventure trim all the way!!

I like it a lot, however I am old school and like silver wheels. Hope Honda makes one available with silver wheels and silver grill for streets. Great stuff, though I also miss a real console and transmission shift lever.

I was looking at the new Acura RDX, but the excess prices and 2 liter turbo shifted my attention to the new Passport. I have owned an Acura Cl-S since 2003 with a smaller version of that V-6 engine. I'll accept the ,mileage penalty in trade for one of the strongest V-6 engines ever made. I'll offset my lower mileage in the Passport against the higher cost of premium fuel in the 2 l. turbos, plus avoiding the depreciation from the shorter life and maintenance costs of the turbo..

You see, these reviewers are looking at the car for a 50 mile test drive and do not talk about the long term costs associated with vehicles or brands, in my mind, it is somewhat irresponsible to steer people to Jeep, when them and their parent company are by far the lowest rated brand of the US big three and equally low when compared to their Japanese counterparts...

One thing that kills the Honda V6 is the timing belt, for so much money they really should have a maintenance free chain. The Toyota V6 is the winner in my book.
The really should have used the Accord gauge's , that interior is awesome , old school Honda awesome ...except for the gauges , they don't match the quality of the rest of the int.
Yes the interior needed to be upgraded for a $45,000 car. It was very offensive to ask a Honda buyer to consider a Jeep.
This thing is crying for smaller diameter wheels and taller profile tires. it looks ridiculous with those shoes. I bet the OEM Ridgeline wheels would fit.
I thought exactly the same thing... needs 17" rims and some beefy LT series tires.

I too agree about the wheels. They should be 18-19”, not 20, to provide more cushion and less likelihood of tire and wheel damage. Although, the Passport handles bumps well, and the cabin is super quiet.
As a Grand Cherokee owner I love its looks and capabilities. But while the engine and transmission of Grand Cherokee is solid (Pentastar V6), things go wrong with it. Even if you buy the extended warranty, plan on dealing with service adviser often. In our household we also have a Ridgline (same as this Passport but the truck version), simply nothing ever goes wrong with that Honda. Get the Honda if you want a relaxed life, get the Grand Cherokee if you want more outdoorsy capability and looks and luxury.
Those low profile tires just kill it. What were they thinking? Better keep it on smooth pavement. Such a shame considering it has such an awsome AWD system.
I really like this new Passport but the funny thing is I have a 2016 Acura RDX AWD and this Passport is almost identical including the same J35 V6 engine. If I didn't have my Acura I'd seriously consider this Passport.
Everyone complains about the Jeep being unreliable but has never actually owned one. I had a 2014 that never gave me one problem apart from being a bit too gas gustling for the size. I switched it on December for a Tesla Model X since I was expecting another baby and needed a larger car. As luxurious and futuristic as the Tesla is there’s something so rugged and fun that I miss from the Jeep.
I test drove one and agree that the interior seemed dark. Also, I felt the 6 cylinder engine wasn't that responsive. It seemed sluggish when I gave it a little bit more gas to pull out in traffic. Also, the lane keep assist caused the steering wheel to vibrate to the point where I felt I was fighting the vehicle. Finally, the deal breaker for me was the placement of the blind spot indicators. Instead of Honda putting them in the mirrors, they opted to place them INSIDE the vehicle on the window pillars next to the mirrors. This placement had me puzzled since I was specifically looking for the indicators and nearly caused an accident. PUT THEM WHERE EVERY OTHER CAR MANUFACTURER PUTS THEM - IN THE MIRROR, OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE!
I’ve driven 2 generations of Grand Cherokee and they were both uncomfortable. The seating position is too low and the pedals are so far to the left that your right inner thigh wears out in a few mins of hitting heavy traffic. Also, the rear ends heave left and right over uneven pavement.
Seems to have a lot of capability/space/performance but like you said, overpriced. But it might sell regardless because of the brand and the fact that the pilot is highly rated by almost everyone.

I think it depends. For me, I would like to choose Sport trim, which is pretty within my budget rather than other trims.

stevendphoto or the highly overpriced 2020 Chevy Blazer, equally equipped. Chevy’s got some nerve charging $50 grand for a comparable Blazer. It’s not even worth $30,000! I can’t think of the last time someone said “I just bought a Chevy”. But I do hear how often people complain about them being in the shop all of the time. When I was young and had kids, I leased a Chevy Venture. Worst decision by far, and the absolutely least reliable car I have ever had!! It was nicknamed “The $hitty Chevy”.
Good video, people need help choosing which box to purchase. When choosing a box to buy, consider a mini van, sure they're a bit bigger box, but hey, they're all boxes on wheels.
I owned a Jeep Cherokee and it left me on the road twice. The transmission went out. The alternator went out. I had to push it out of the highway to the side. Extremely unreliable is Jeep. Then, I had to do a software update because hackers could take it over and drive it remotely.
Why not a real One ? Perhaps 4runner
I would never choose a Grand Cherokee over a Passport, The reliability of the Passport is second to none. I'm changing my Grand Cherokee for the Passport as we speak.

If you ever actually own a Jeep for several years, you will know how it feel to own a Jeep. After my local jeep dealer could not figure out a rattle in my then new Jeep, they suggested me to turn up the radio volume. That is absolutely not acceptable for a Honda and its dealership.
Reading off spec for a car is simple, drive it for a few time
Price. Power and size with awd is a good buy. All other cars in its class with the same options will be 10k more and arnt as reliable

Just test drove the Passport, drove nice but was disappointed with the higher than expected price and interest rate from Honda, obviously they are counting on people flocking to their new addition. Found the honeycomb plastic grill real cheap, and driver arm rest too narrow. Love the towing capacity but was disappointed with the quality of the interior for that price.

Somewhat overpriced, but if they can get it, more power and profit for Honda. It's a great size for most families that don't need a third row. They created the right-sized vehicle that I wish Toyota had built. We are hoping the the 2020 Highlander will finally get Apple Carplay, but we fear that Toyota will continue to follow the crowd, where the biggest 3 row Suv wins and stretch the 2020 Highlander another 4 inches. This will make it even more cumbersome, like the others and not a vehicle for those of us that only need 2 rows and want a car that is easy to handle.
When is Toyota redesigning the 4Runner? it's only been 10 years...

We have an 18 year old Gen 1 Highlander with over 200,000 miles, we were hoping that the newly redesigned 2019 Rav-4 might give us a little more legroom than our old 2 row Highlander, but they actually made it 2.5 inches shorter than even the 2018 model.
Toyota is looking very sad right now, this from someone who owned a $runner for 17 years and 217,000 miles, a 2009 Venza for 5 years and wife drives a RX350 (which is awesome). Now, with the entire automotive industry moving towards SUVs, Ford planning to drop all but two of their cars, Chevy coming out with countless numbers of SUV's, Subaru, Hyundai, Kia, Jeep, all releasing new and or updated SUVs... the best that Toyota can do is a re-design of the top selling SUV in the US, that fails on so many levels (including placing 4th place in a recent MT comparison) that they have priced a loaded Adventure model at slightly over $38k, with a redesigned engine that has SUPER high compression and 0wt oil, meaning it may NOT have the longevity of the typical Toyota motor. Then there is the 4Runner that has a SUPER old engine (4.0) and and a ancient 5spd tranny, gets HORRIBLE gas mileage (17/20) and has NOT had a major upgrade in over 10 years now, Sequoia is also longer overdue for an upgrade, but Toyota feels there are still enough stupid people out there willing to spend over $60k for a ancient beat that get 13mpg - city and 17 mpg -hiwy that there is no need to do a major upgrade, the Highlander is more of a buck-toothed van than an actual SUV, is getting a major upgrade next year, but don't hold your breath for anything earth-shattering. Instead Toyota tries to revive those glory days may sinking money into the Camry, as the Major said in the first Rambo: "IT's OVER JOHNNY!"

I am glad to see the venerable 3.5L V6 in there, and frankly surprised. We own a 2013 RDX & 2018 MDX both with that same engine. Too bad about the price, as I think Honda is missing the target here a bit. I am not a fan of the latest RDX, and would consider the Passport when time to upgrade that vehicle for us, but I like all the extras and if I'm paying over $40k for an SUV it may be the Pilot or another MDX for us. I think the review is spot on, for under $40k it makes sense, less so after that.
George Haws a 2020 MDX comparably equipped is over $50,000.
Jeeps are OK on a lease or if you don't plan on owning one beyond the warranty.

You forgot to mention it has really awesome torque vectoring on the AWD models. Just got a Touring one today, its swank! And, that is coming from someone with a Cayenne Coupe S as well!
The 20" wheels just look very odd on this vehicle. I don't need or want them. Prefer 18" and the better ride that they give. Wish the mileage was better. It's disappointing.

I owned three other Hondas and am looking to replace a 2004 4Runner, I like everything about this SUV, but don't understand to low CR ratings. CR rates the Pilot much higher and its basically the same but shorter vehicle. Anyone know why CR has such low ratings?
How tall are you just out of curiosity? Do you feel you have enough leg room?

The JGC platform / architecture is loooong in the tooth. Sure it might be dressier but’s it’s old as dirt by auto standards. They keep adding some chrome and LED and people keep buying it though. Hopefully Honda does make some mid cycle updates that address the interior and keep the exterior fresh as they normally do.

No Jeep. Yes, my sister loves her simple Jeep Cherokee (a Chrysler badged product) & it has been cruising just fine without any expensive repair. More importantly, she hasn’t been stuck in deep snow. Unfortunately, the reliability of Jeep and Toyota cannot stand up to Honda. I have a Honda in three forms: a car, a lawnmower and a generator.
I read that it only has a tongue weight of 350lbs, how is it towing 5000 lbs?
The Hyundai Santa Fe is awesome. And so is the passport. They definitely need to bring the price down or I will be owning a Hyundai Santa Fe limited 2.0t by the end of the year. There’s a couple reasons I prefer the passport. V6 over turbo 4 anyday but while I love the Hyundai blue link and what it does the remotes start should also be on the key fob. So the Honda’s remote start and V6 are my two main reasons. But like I said only if they bring the price down
I have a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited 2.0t. Traded in a Honda Odyssey. Own a 2003 and 2013 Honda CRV currently. The Santa Fe is fantastic. Better value. So comfortable. I don't need the V6. The Passport is a smaller Pilot. I prefer the spacious cabin in the Santa Fe. I love Hondas, but the Santa Fe is budget-friendly.
Gen McCardell I agree I don’t need the v6 but I don’t like turbo 4 because that’s two components that can cause trouble for you in the future even if they have the 10 year warranty. I own a turbo 4 now and it’s never giving me much of a headache but it’s a Volkswagen lol

Interesting take on the Passport. Personally, though, I'd differ somewhat in terms of its competition. The Passport seems to me to compete in an emerging but seldom recognized "tweener" category between mainstream compact and larger "midsize" SUV's. If mainstream "compact" crossovers range from 179" to 182" inches in length, there's a category above where the lengths range from about 188" to 190". Extend it downward to, say 185" and the VW Tiguan and Nissan Rogue are included. Stretch it a bit at the upper end to say, 192" and the Murano and Grand Cherokee are in the "tweener" category, as well. The larger "midsize" category then begins around 196" and stretches to the Durango and GM twins (Traverse and Enclave) at 204".
At the heart of the category are some popular and well regarded vehicles: the Hyundai Santa Fe; the Subaru Outback; the KIA Sorento; the Ford Edge; the Toyota 4Runner; and the new Honda Passport, among others.
The vehicles in the tweener category share a number of important attributes. Almost all are two-row, five passenger vehicles. Each offers more passenger room and overall cargo capacity than a typical compact crossover. If the smaller Tiguan and Rogue are considered outliers, almost all offer a V6 engine either as a standard or optional powerplant. And almost all include a traditional transmission with eight or more gears. Most have similar crossover looks.
There are a few differences from the norm. The KIA Sorento has a third row of seats in all trims. (The Tiguan has an optional third row but it's a cruel joke.) The Hyundai Santa Fe is the only one of the larger vehicles in the group with a turbo4 rather than a V6 as the higher performance engine option. The Subaru Outback and Nissan vehicles use a CVT rather than a traditional geared transmission. And in terms of styling the Murano, Grand Cherokee, and the Outback present a more "wagon-esque" look than the others.
Viewed in this context the Passport appears to be an appealing entry. It's typical in most ways with its most unique attribute being the availability of the Honda version of SH-AWD, arguably superior to the AWD systems offered by its rivals. The range of MSRP's of its trim levels are more or less in line with the competition but comparing individual trim levels and detailed feature comparisons can be very complicated. Suffice to say that some rivals have lower base trim level MSRP's (Sorento) and some have higher top trim level MSRP's (Most notably the Grand Cherokee and the Ford Edge). But a warning is in order. MSRP's may be a very unreliable yardstick compared to "real world" dealer prices arrived at through a serious negotiation.
I purchased a top trim SX-L Kia Sorento early last year after looking at several "midsize" crossovers. Its "tweener" size was a major deciding factor for my family. Had the Passport (or the almost identical Hyundai Santa Fe) been available at the time I would have considered it seriously. But the third row seating, feature content, and discount I received on the Sorento would probably have made it the choice.
Finally, I don't think it's appropriate to compare the Passport with the Acura RDX. While the top trim Passport and the RDX with its package options aren't far apart in price, the RDX offers much less cargo space, passenger space, and a 2.0L turbo compared to the Passport's naturally aspirated V6. I'd be sorely tempted by the RDX if I only considered my own priorities. But for a family crossover, where utility is a high priority, I think there are other more comparable rivals.

I'm currently researching my next vehicle to purchase. Looking at most companies, must have naturally aspirated engine, and be reliable. I'm favoring the Kia Ex Sorrento with touring trim package, over the highest trim level of the Honda Passport any day. It is better equipped, more luxurious, more interior room, and has a better warranty. No question.

I think the problem there with the new passport is the interior is way to Pilot-Ridgeline! There's not much difference in each. That's actually my only turn off to this vehicle. They should have made the interior totally different.
Honda is to high in price, $40,000.00 plus extended warranty.
All honda have the same interior. I like the passport I would not buy one. Just for the interior.

@Terriel. Um, that may be an accurate assessment but once you test drive the two vehicles you'll notice there is a major difference, especially in the drive. The Passport is smoother.

Regardless of price, this Passport really looks like a rushed product to me. Honda really just wanted to have a competitor in the "between compact and midsize 3 row SUV" segment like Edge, Santa Fe, Blazer and the one who has been playing it all along, Murano. There is absolutely zero character to this vehicle. It actually feels like Honda just took the left over inventory from Pilot, simply sawed 5-6 inches and put all the mechanics into it. I may think about it, but only in its next generation.
For now, either a Santa Fe or even a smaller RAV-4 or Forester look much better and truly reliable deal to me.
Just a reminder, changing the C pillar needs a complete redesign of the whole body of the car. So, it is not a simple save-their-time product.
The Santa Fe is a very appealing choice. But it's "performance" engine option is a turbo 4 rather than a naturally aspirated V6, arguably a better choice in terms of smooth power delivery and durability, especially in a two ton plus vehicle. But if you like Santa Fe, consider the KIA Sorento. It's virtually identical to the Santa Fe in overall size, cargo space, passenger room in the first two rows, transmission, AWD system, infortainment, etc. But it has a v6 engine and a third row of seating that's convenient for occasional use. In effect the 2019 Santa Fe is a refreshed version of a 2017 Sorento when KIA offered a two-row version and a turbo4 engine.
Both the new RAV4 and the Forester are appealing choices, as well. But again, they offer only 4 cylinder engines and somewhat less cargo and passenger space. The RDX is also very appealing but it, too, is a 4 banger (though a very good one) and somewhat smaller in terms of cargo and passenger space. And of course, it's going to be considerably more expensive for comparable equipment versus the other choices.
We own a 2019 Santa Fe and we also have a leased Chevy that will expire soon. As such, I test drove the Passport and it drives much, much, nicer than our Sante Fe. Plus, it has a little bit more room. The price the dealer quoted us for the Passport was 34,500 for the EX-L AWD. We'll decide if we'll purchase by the end of this week.
Actually have owned a number of Grand Cherokees but in this IIHS world wont buy another the passport is much better but not perfect. So it is disturbing you would recommend a Grand Cherokee
A Jeep??? I guess it’s a good choice if you like uncertainty and enjoy less time in your vehicle because it’s at the dealership for a slew of repairs. On the other hand, if you want to sleep well at night for 10-15 years not having to worry about if your vehicle is going to crap out again, buy a Honda.
Jeep fanatics somehow overlook the unreliability and frequency of breakdowns and failures. How many times do you need to be slapped upside the head to realize it’s time to jump ship to another brand??
The Passport may not be cutting edge or have fantastic looks, but it does has major advantages over the competition; Honda’s proven reliability, engineering, owner satisfaction, high resale values, and worry-free long term ownership. That’s hard to beat!

The complaints are warranted given the price. Frankly the Santa Fe has better interior and looks, it just lacks the v6.

4 passanger crossover. (captain chair front row, and second row captain chairs that slide back and recline. V6. 7 inch ground clearance. size of CRV/Rav4. Blind spot monitor and front and back camera.
Well here is my attempt for a compact SUV with AWD: Place the stronger, significantly more fuel efficient and incredibly reliable engine of Toyota's 2019 Hybrid Rav-4 in Subaru's 2019 Forester Touring body, with it's larger cabin with almost more 4" of extra legroom than the Rav-4 and 2.2 inches more legroom than the Passport, panoramic sunroof and some safety features not found on Toyota or Honda.
It would be a narrower and shorter length rig that would carry four comfortably, five in a pinch and get amazing gas mileage. The wider Honda Passport would carry five in more comfort and have extra cargo space, but would cost you almost twice as much to fill up: Passport mpg: 19 / 24 / 21 vs the hybrid Rav-4/Forester mpg: 41 / 37 / 39. The Passport would be quicker by far 0 to 60 about 6.7 seconds vs 7.2 to 7.5 seconds for the Rav-4/Forester. Call it the : "Rav-4ester" just for fun, but it would really work for me.
