The cop claimed it was accident, becouse he emptied his revolver, but left two bullets in the cylinder. These effing cops have excuse for everything.
This story needs to be seen by more people
An apology would not be enough for me, early or late. I would have lost my life or freedom behind this. And they waited until the cop died before giving the family an apology. Nope, nope, no!

not to mention, building a statue is not gonna solve the problem of police using unjust violence
I'm just as white as Darrel Cain and I think this proves that qualified immunity has always been a disaster and should be permanently lifted and abolished. Two years for shooting a 12 year old in the head is unacceptable.
This is NOT an example of a qualified immunity case.

As a volunteer at Oakland Cemetery on Malcolm X Blvd we’ve hosted his family for memorial services and I have to tell you that seeing Mrs Rodriguez is heartbreaking every time. His brother has never attended because it’s just too difficult for him to do so. Hadi Jawad is a kind man who’s always been there and seeing the statue at Pikes Park is nice but difficult. His grave is on the main circle at Oakland behind the towering obelisk.

I grew up in Dallas and was about 10 months younger than Santos. I remember this event when it happened in 1973. It was depressing. And the cop shooter did not serve enough time.

You all let them get away with ignoring the law. This child's death is your fault. How many crimes have you let the police commit against me and others? This wasn't only the police officers fault, its the public's fault for allowing the police to violate the law in some cases. Its the publics fault and police's fault for ignoring the law and teaching the others its ok to ignore the law, sometimes. You cry when it goes too far. Yet, you still do it anyways.
If you want change, you have to change. Want to know what you have allowed the police to do to me, and others? Its really bad. Mutilating my face when I was just an innocent child for starters
