I recently found out that some of the traffic I'd gotten on a video of mine came from a bro-dude video called 6 Books EVERY MAN Must Read (A Guide To BECOMING A MAN). They were all biographies, but biographies on people like Napoleon and Samuel Zemurray (the man responsible for turning several South American countries into banana republics), and held these types up as people that men should seek to emulate! For no other reason than that they were greedy, power-obsessed lunatics that got what they wanted and made it to the top at the cost of countless lives ruined. Really disheartening to see how lacking empathy and measuring your life in terms of how much wealth you can accumulate are being held up as virtues--and that so many fall for it. Great to see someone giving a piece of their mind about it!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year ميلاد مجيد و عيد سعيد I share with you very similar ideas. As a 62 Year Old teacher on the verge of retirement, I Will be glad someday to revisit this idea. Best regards from Iraq
Erasmus, hanging around behind you, doesn't know whether to laugh or to cry. Three words or phrases (besides "bro") that I detest: "heuristics," "moving forward," and "at the end of the day." You don't quote Vicino as having used that third one, but I'll bet he did.
I haven't read Antifragile, which you call "idiotic" here and yet was no. 2 on your best nonfiction of 2012 list. You said it was a book to argue and disagree with (in a good way) back then; when did you finally get sick of it? It might be interesting and fun to make a video on how books fare over time, with specific references to your own lists. I know, I know... I'm asking for another present on Christmas - shameful of me! I hope you are having a good one.
Just what I needed for my day commuting further north today! Anti-fragility sounds to me like a term I’ve heard before, one that already exists…Is it possible that our Christmas Dubro forgot the existence of the word resilience?🤫🤔😂
I have been awaiting a Xmas eve Steve fest..The World Keeps turning..Reading Raymond E Feist Daughter of the Empire this evening. You'd love it.!.Happy Xmas Steve et Freida et al..
When these people talk about reading, do they mean sitting with a book and inputting the words through their eyeballs, or do they mean audio book listening, probably at 2x speed? The latter for me does not qualify as reading. Otherwise everyone I've ever listened to could be considered as me having read their minds.
Great video! Do reread a dozen books a year. It's a good idea. Just make sure that what you read has value to you. Just So Stories (Kipling) or The Celebrated Jumping Frog (Mark Twain) give me pleasure, so they clearly have value to me. So do Once Upon A Town (Bob Greene) and Death Valley (Bourke Lee). So does Lord of the Rings.
I am not a dude. I once had a dude try to sell me on their set of culty self-help books. I stared hard at them for a long time. I didn't know what a cult was at the time. The whole setup just seemed really manipulative. I need to re-read some books. I haven't re-read any books in the last few years since I got back into reading. I've been building up a core of books I'd like to read again.
This is my list of books that this UA-camr should read. 1. The Gospel of Matthew 2. Mark 3. Luke 4. John Repeat three times and follow all of the excellent financial contained therein.
Young men FLEECING young men! What I don't understand is how so many young men don't see it - I mean, when you were 18-24, wouldn't you have seen how predatory this stuff is?
@@saintdonoghue Steve, I know you have a lot of young followers here but many young man do not understand how Narcissistic most of these manosphere channels are. The men running these channels bring a new meaning to the word huckster. They are beyond snake oil salesmen.

Bro watch is the Christmas gift that keeps on giving.
A BroWatch video? On Christmas Eve!? 😀
God bless us, every one!

Love your videos Steve. My dad says you’re a good role model lol High praise indeed. Keep up the good work x

Great to hear someone go after the grifters.
They dont want to go inward, they want the appearance of someone who is capable of doing such a thing.

"You'd love it" sounds suspiciously close to "have you read it"! Which would officially RUIN CHRISTMAS!!

Hee. Like clockwork, a BroWatch video brings out the best in the Comments!
Merry Christmas Steve!
Merry Christmas to you too!
I thought you liked Antifragile. I remember it being on one of your best of the year lists.
haha! Great video.
I have seen the bro-guys and read a few recommendations, but quickly fall away. I agree with most you say here.
I live for BroWatch
It’s a good point on the state of “pop-culture” books.
I can’t abide Malcolm Gladwell, for example. He bores me totally.
Merry Christmas Steve and Frieda Bean!
BROWATCH?? It's a Christmas miracle!!

literally how to be poor 101.
This is a mirror world: all vices become virtues in the heartless pig snuffle of pathological capitalism. The mindset is disturbingly disgusting.
Sigh. I thought we'd get to here the great Steve's 12 life-changing books... Oh well. Probably Ovid and Horace...

Brotivational Grifters 😆😂🤣
I was with you until your inane putdown of “Man’s Search for Meaning”. Have you ever read it?
Wait, what? Surely many inconsistencies. Excellent evisceration of a totally bs video.
