    As a vehicle tech of over 36 years, this is simply music to my ears. Sounds awesome and the reason electric cars will never be "real cars" ❤️

      Same with quartz watches, only mechanical watches are real watches

    I remember the first time I saw those little Capri's in the u.s.
    Sharp looking car but I didn't think much of the small 4cyl and 6cyl engines.
    I eventually built a 1972 Ford Maverick, with a 302/4V/aluminium intake a good camshaft and some port work and added a then new T-5
    5spd,She wasn't slow,and I topped out at around 135-140mph and then fell flat on her face,no more power and no more speed,But as a 19yr old I figured I was king of the Highway about 290hp.
    One night I'm clipping along about 85mph and I see a pair of headlights coming up FAST in the rearview mirror..I gulped and backed off the gas thinking it was a State Trooper
    Nope! That car flew by me,all I saw was a blur of white and blue paint,and that SOUND!! I had never heard anything like it it was ferocious sounding!
    So I hammered the gas and gave chase,I caught up to him easy enough,but I'm at around 120-125 and that guy starts pulling away!
    I got right on his tail again and I just couldn't get around him! I noticed the taillights were a Capri.
    He hung around just out of range,I couldn't keep up with him,I know he probably had ALOT more but I'm guessing he was holding back a bit,the paint wheels and tires looked brand new ..no license plate,no state inspection sticker,So I figured he just got the car running and was taking her out for a test run at the early morning hours.
    I saw him a couple days later at the local drag strip,He recognised my car and we got talking,He opened the hood and showed me the engine
    A V6!! But no V6 I had ever seen before!! What an amazing machine!!
    He said it wasn't a 'real' racing Cosworth and he actually built it himself from used and new parts the induction setup was insane!
    Beautiful car,fast,loud and a Ford!!

    I can see why you've blanked off the radio, who needs music when the engine sounds that good👍

      Haha it’s actually got a double din/sat nav job just out of sight, I fitted the tickford style centre console to house it.

    Along with a proper production V8 the Capri deserved this engine from the factory.

      @@jhareng It is a bit different - the Escort is stiffer, with a shorter wheelbase, and very different weight distribution.

    • @jhareng
      @jhareng 2 місяці тому +1

      @@dungareesareforfools 165mm shorter wheelbase thats it. Same Mcpherson struts and rear shocks all inter changeable, same rear end only spring rates differed, similar engines, roll bars, gearboxes, all bushes. Add to that on a 2ltr pinto engine theres at least 3 different gearboxes, rear axles and propshafts depending where built.
      I had the German built 2 S with 3 rail box, coarse spline prop and a different engine code to Escort RS. Still exists some where even though scrapped the car in 1989 COP 608V.

    Ich hatte einen Ford Scorpio 2.9 Cosworth BOA 195 PS 1993 Model ein top Motor mit Super Leistung und Kraft der Verbrauch war erstaunlich gut mit vollem Kofferraum und Besatzung in den Urlaub gefahren teilweise sogar 230 km/h und wo es ging mit 180 -200 gefahren die Geschwindigkeit merkt man gar nicht keine kickdown normal hochbeschleunigt Verbrauch zwischen 8.5 und 9.6 Liter ich war voll überrascht den Scorpio fuhr ich 8 Jahre und hatte 267 tsd km auf der Uhr ohne Probleme das einzigste was geld gekostet hat waren die Katalysator der hatte gleich 4 Stück das war teuer aber der Motor lief selbst mit 267 tsd wie eine Sahne und packte immer noch 245 Sachen.

  • @Draxindustries1
    @Draxindustries1 3 роки тому +5

    Much better than the 2.0 Cosworth which always sounds as rough as a badgers arse. , the 2.9 revs lower, is under far less stress, has linear torque plus sounds nicer.

    • @Generalkenobi325

      Finally someone who agrees! Who doesn’t want a cosworth engine with the sweet sound of v6 grunt!!! And these engines have so much power potential if you wanted to keep up with the 2.0 lumps

    • @Draxindustries1
      @Draxindustries1 2 роки тому +3

      @@Generalkenobi325 It's an engine with longevity. The 2.0 unfortunately ends up in the hands of idiots attempting circa 500hp + for bragging rights.
      I personally think the 2.0 standard Pinto engine was good in its day. Easy to work on, would do big mileage if looked after. The 2.9 in a Capri is a good conversion , my favourite though is the 3.4 GAA, a liitle expensive though..

    • @Generalkenobi325
      @Generalkenobi325 2 роки тому

      @@Draxindustries1 I couldn’t agree more theres so much hype about the 2.0 when actually I don’t think it’s anything special if you compare it to other big power turbo lumps from the same era , and like you say the pinto is a cracking engine very tunable , cheap to run and sound great! The 2.9 for me is just in a league of its own. Very well suited in the Capri such a shame it wasn’t around before the Capri came to an end as I would like to see a new one off the production line with it in!

      @@Draxindustries1 and yes I think the gaa is an incredible thing the sound is just something else and all that power whilst being n/a just shows what proper engine building can do without relying on turbos for power like everything you see now a days

    • @chrisclarke6344
      @chrisclarke6344 2 роки тому +3

      @@Draxindustries1 we put several BOAs and BOB in capris and sierras, if you bored and stroked them to 3.6, slide throttles and bespoke ecu with some porting then spin them to 7500/ 8000, you needed to pay careful attention to balance and pick and prepare internals but 350hp was easily achievable with reliability . If you twin turboed them 500 with reliability. Much stronger and more reliable than the 2.0 cosworth. Sounded very good on tube headers and free flow exhaust. I made a 3.6 for my road capri but that was a mongrel using 2.8 block and 2.9 heads and a lot of modifications, but kept engine no correct, looked standard and gave 300hp in n/a form!
