2012 was Driskel's only good year he had. Florida had a dominant defense in 2012 combined with a power running game with Gillislee and Matt Jones, and also Driskel's ability to run the option as well. So he didn't have to go out and win the game. After 2012, when Florida lost a lot of those stars on defense from 2012 and when Gillislee graduated, we saw the flaws that Driskel brought.
As an Auburn alum I must say I remember during this season being so bemused at how Florida's offense was as horrendous as its defense was brilliant. With this offense they only lost one game in the regular season, they could have been real world beaters in '12 with better offensive personnel.
There was plenty of talent on that offense lol. The problem was that Muschamp never learned to get out of his own way. With a competent OC and a hands off approach I believe this would have been a GOAT contender team.
Go Gators! Memorable year. Think our boys lost some fire after not getting into the NC that year. Great team. As much as Gator Nation hates on Muschamp, he had a great defense that year. If not for ND beating USC, who knows if Coach Boom would still be coaching in Gainesville.....
Man I love this condensed replay thank you! Please keep em coming because down here in OZ, the games are not shown and the other websites only show bits and pieces. I LOVE how you show significant plays as replays etc-like tebows 06 jump pass...classic! Keep em coming and Go GATORS
+Jonathan Williams I'm not discrediting him because throwing 4000 yards in any conference is not an easy bet. I'm just saying against good competition he crumbles and doesn't put all numbers in the SEC.
i remember thinking the week before this game. man lsu is gonna win by 2 tds, but i sure hope florida wins. then florida comes in and wins lol i was proud. i like lsu vs bama rivalry a lot however i think LSU vs. Florida is better.
God if we just ran a different offensive scheme that year we would’ve been a championship caliber team. Driskel was great at LA Tech so imagine if we ran a kind of offense in 2012 that suited him better
I read somewhere Driskel was recruited by Urban Meyer, and was to be his prize recruit to his spread offense. Obviously Meyer left Florida, and the prostyle attack ran by Wil Muschamp did not fit Driskel, but yeah he put up insane numbers at LA Tech. This 2012 Gators team had the defense and running game, but had no passing attack.
And I think if we had Tyrann Mathieu Honeybadger the best DB in CFB history we may have won this game too I think he makes a play somewhere either on defense or special teams that would spark us 🐯
incorrect statement, Florida is definitely louder than Tiger Stadium. And it's going to be really quiet when the Florida Gators go in there this year and get that W
I’m still amazed how many games we won, this was some of the worst offense I’ve seen. The run plays was the same over and over, it was ugly but we won and our defense carried us.
I never got this game, LSU goes from beating the gators 41-11 in 2011 running all over the gator defense and then the next year they can’t run the ball on Florida.
Will muschamp offense was so sloppy and ugly, it was run heavy they barely threw the ball, it makes it easier for the opponent to game plan against us because all we did is run, dive play then run it again, counter and run it again, so glad that era is over, and side note, driskel went to high school with my sister in orlando
I like how Gary says Mike Gillislee can't beat LSU... And he does.
Man Quarantine really got me lookin back. I miss how physical they used to allow players to be, it was great!
"Gillislee won't beat LSU by himself."
Fake news
“Gillislee won’t beat LSU by himself”
“Yeah but have you seen Driskel throw 😬”
to think that the gators were one notre dame loss away from playing in the national championship with jeff driskel playing qb
Foster Kish crazy
If there was playoff then we would of been in it
I'm watching all the last ten lsu games before the game this weekend.... if mullen had this fucking team they'd have hung 60 on everybody

And ELITE defense
Epitome of an SEC game. So physical. You know those players were sore AF after this game.
This was the year we had 7 SEC teams who could've made the playoffs this year.
you should SEC what the SEC looks like now you'd never believe it
As an Auburn alum I must say I remember during this season being so bemused at how Florida's offense was as horrendous as its defense was brilliant. With this offense they only lost one game in the regular season, they could have been real world beaters in '12 with better offensive personnel.
National Championship Caliber Defense with a 4 -8 caliber offense
The next season truly showed how bad our offense was after losing a lot of talent on defense
There was plenty of talent on that offense lol. The problem was that Muschamp never learned to get out of his own way. With a competent OC and a hands off approach I believe this would have been a GOAT contender team.
Watching this game reminded me of just how much Driskel sucked. Its amazing we ever won any games.
Go Gators! Memorable year. Think our boys lost some fire after not getting into the NC that year. Great team. As much as Gator Nation hates on Muschamp, he had a great defense that year. If not for ND beating USC, who knows if Coach Boom would still be coaching in Gainesville.....
Gillislee was a tough running back. Fought for lots of extra yardage. DJ Humphries helps too.
It always sends chills down my spine when Gillislee scores the 2nd TD and Lundquist is like "TOUCHDOWN FLORIDA"
Man I love this condensed replay thank you! Please keep em coming because down here in OZ, the games are not shown and the other websites only show bits and pieces. I LOVE how you show significant plays as replays etc-like tebows 06 jump pass...classic! Keep em coming and Go GATORS
I always remember this as the Matt Elam game. He was so dominant in this game.
where was the hit the matt elam put on odell beckham jr during the punt?
With like 11 mins left in the third quarter but they skipped it;(
This defense with the 2020 offense would be the greatest cfb team ever that’s right ever
This was one of the best games in the Swamp. It was a HOT day and the crowd was insaaaane.
Glad you like it! Enjoy! GO GATORS!!!
Back when the SEC was scary good
The 2012 season was awesome no body expected much
Definitely the signature win of the Mschamp era!
my goodness I don't know how they managed to go 11-2 with driskell... he was so bad
Jordan Chancey btw I'm a gator fan
*****
And Caleb Sturgis, dude kicked so many long FGs that year.
He's a game manager in the SEC lol. Or maybe just bad coaching from Muschamp. He's having some success with Louisiana Tech.
+Phill Touneh 4000+ yards and getting drafted is quite successful.
Great stuff man, I'll watch every one you make multiple times!!
If Driskel had been coached by Meyer or Mullen he would have won an SEC title if not a Heisman and a natty. The guy had that much talent.
Anyone else just looking at old games and seeing all the names in the NFL now?
I miss Mike Gillislee.
God if we just ran a different offensive scheme that year we would’ve been a championship caliber team. Driskel was great at LA Tech so imagine if we ran a kind of offense in 2012 that suited him better

I love how all of the gator fans thought they were going to win but fast forward all the way to the end and LSU won 17-6. Love it
lsufan1997 ?
Glad to know!
Announcers: Gilleslie can't do it alone.
Gilleslie:. I'll fockin do it again, mate.
Dang did anyone watch when Shariff Floyd was circled how fast he was running, he must of been running like a 4.6!
Both teams played tremendous defense, but my Gators had enough offense to win....GO GATORS!!!
They picked LSU to win. LSU was a 2.5 pick favorite over Florida.
LOL matt elam hitting purifoy after the celebration was funny
one of the best things about watching this is Danielson saying that Gilislie is not going to beat LSU.
Elam hitting Purifoy was the thing I remember most from this game.
wasted a NC level D for a Sugar Bowl loss
Tiger stadium is louder though but the swamp is second to best
Pair the 2012 Gators defense with the 2020 Gators offense, and you probably have a National Championship.
Muschamp may not have panned out, but man he had some good defenses at Florida, something they lack now.
This was the only game that LSU should have lost. LSU should have beaten Alabama and Clemson.
And I think if we had Tyrann Mathieu Honeybadger the best DB in CFB history we may have won this game too I think he makes a play somewhere either on defense or special teams that would spark us 🐯
I don't own LSU, but Mike Gillislee does. LOL
Haha funny because LSU is rated NUMBER 1 LOUDEST IN THE COUNTRY!!!
LSU worst nightmare is when they come to the swamp.
incorrect statement, Florida is definitely louder than Tiger Stadium. And it's going to be really quiet when the Florida Gators go in there this year and get that W
I’m still amazed how many games we won, this was some of the worst offense I’ve seen. The run plays was the same over and over, it was ugly but we won and our defense carried us.
For some reason it looks like a video game on my screen.
Ah a great year But R.I.P gators in 2013 and 2014
Why do the logos don't move like nfl do
The 2012 Florida Defense was absolutely dominant. It was disgusting actually
I never got this game, LSU goes from beating the gators 41-11 in 2011 running all over the gator defense and then the next year they can’t run the ball on Florida.
You say you own nothing in this video but you forgot about LSU.
Gary: Gillislee is not going to beat LSU.
Gillislee: beats LSU.
LSU is wayyy different program now a days... for all you gator fans
The feels...
Bo Nix is a smaller, slower, weaker armed version of Jeff Driskel.
lsu could have won if there wideouts could catch
2012 lyrical beast Kendrick Lamar j Cole jay z
Imagine a good offense with this defensive sheesh
i loved it. Go gators!!!
i wouldn't call this an upset... everyone picked florida to win but still a great win
Peak Muschamp.
YES! Me too
moment of the season: matt elam's strip on the sideline.
Odell was hot garbage in this game
#GatorNation
to many drop passes for Lsu
