One of my fav verve tracks. You killed every note. McCabes tones from this era were top and I often find myself trying to get something similar but haven’t been able to quite like you have seriously excellent job
These are always an instant click as soon as they appear in my feed. Never disappointed. What delay time are you using if you don’t mind me asking? And are you putting delay/reverb in front of the amp/equivalent or in an effects loop. There’s a really nice grainy, “smearing” quality to the delay.
Cheers! for this one I ditched the amp and used a budget modeller Mooer GE250 which has taken a while to dial in. Front end is a Volante which gives a nice tape delay and in the fx loop is the big sky and a timeline which gives the shimmery effects on the cleans. I'll get round to a gear video at some point 😬
Hi - yeah it might take me a while but I will do Rolling People at some point. It's a fun song to learn / play but I prefer the washed out slower versions they did circa 94' so haven't decided the backing track yet
Big sky and timeline in the fx loop of a Mooer GE250 - I used the onboard distortion of a Rat distortion and I think a simulated Mesa Boogie MK3. Pup is usually always on the neck never single coil on my PRS. Not sure what volume adjustment is?
Mate I'm just putting my first pedalboard together. It think I've got the 'So it goes' tone down pretty well but what are the essential McCabe pedals for Storm in Heaven era? Cheers
A good reverb - I use Strymon but I'm sure the latest boss, half of fame or anything with a plate verb will do the trick. I'm not too clued up on distortions I use a fender pugilist which has a crunchy tone. Maybe a blues driver would be next on the shopping list and a tape delay. That's all you need really imo good luck !
@@adamlitchfield3371 actually that was a quadraverb direct in when I was getting started with recording so I'm also curious about the bog sky it's on my hot list to redo it

On early Verve, Nick McCabe used an Alesis Quadraverb Plus
Do you also kick in a wah at around the 4:30 mark? Can’t tell if it’s that or some weird filter setting on the other units…
Yeah the swells use the wah and it's used a lot throughout
Wow. Great work!!
This makes going back to work tomorrow, OK. Keep em coming...
'let's strap on the nosebag and eat some serious work...' haha

Brilliant!
this is amazing!
Mate any chance of Rolling People? There are no covers on UA-cam where you can actually see what's being played and I really want to learn it

Effects, pickup placement, volume adjustment?❤

Cheers man. I'd love to see how close that Big Sky can get you to 'Beautiful Mind', that would be sweet 👌
(....just seen that you've already done it 👍)
