Sara, an IT professional & Stephen a graphic designer and artist are world-traveling Canadians who dreamt of moving to Europe, and France in particular. In 2020 they were working from home when Stephen turned to Sara and popped the question she was longing to hear, “What would have to be true for us to buy a chateau in France?” They searched online for months viewing hundreds of properties. They narrowed their search and toured some properties when they happened upon the one that captured our hearts, Château de Saint-Germain-des-Prés. A year later they made the move to France to start their new adventure in our beautiful Château. They created “Manor and Maker” to reflect the two sides of their adventure. One, to live as chateau owners with all the ups and downs and two, to pursue their passions as makers, creating art in all its forms. They will invite others to come together, united by their passions, to share in this adventure. We invite you to join us too, as we bring our dreams to life. Welcome to Manor & Maker.

I love Art Nouveau, especially in furniture. The French did it best. It would be great to fill a home with furniture and decor from that era.

Oh my! The Musée d'Orsay is simply stunning. I absolutely love the Art Nouveau style and I cannot wait to see what you are able to do at your château. What a gorgeous table setting and the plates are magnificent. Vivian knows how to decorate with ambiance, warmth and beauty. Her home is like a piece of art in itself. They both have such great taste.
Your tip to Paris was absolutely breathtaking I loved the beautiful materials you bought for your bedroom, Same colours as my living room and dining room; love those colours, Sea foam green👍They will be gorgeous in your bedroom. Looking forward to seeing them hung up in your bedroom. The bedspread material,wow. What will you do with the bedspread are you going to create some designs? I loved every aspect of this blog it was super great. And those cars, wow. I saw an orange Ford Mustang we had one like it but it was a beautiful yellow they just come out then. It was a unique style for mustangs. Steve was that a Mustang at the end of your video the 3 Fords? 💕🌈🇨🇦

Thank you for this lovely reminder. We were in Paris in 1989 for the 200th Bastille festivities. We toured everything. We saw the fireworks from Sacre Coeur. I was impressed by how large Whistler's Mother is. Our Hotel was in Montmartre and I walked the alleyways bargaining for Limoge. I loved the city. Thank you again for the lovely reminder.

Good morning Steve & Sara, Happy birthday Sara, wish you many many more, blessed with health and happiness. Of all the places in Europe, each having their own characters and History to boast with, I think France is really my favourite Country. The History and the preservation of the buildings and all is so amazing. Did that birthday table put on a show, my goodness, it was so beautiful. I am sure all had a lovely evening. The gift was just gorgeous, it was a wonderful event. I also look at the buildings and other views in the camera lens, it must be a great feeling to be there, you are truly blessed to enjoy these opportunities, but that's why you went to Paris. The fabric is so lovely, beautiful colours with the gold to add a subtle beauty to the aquamarine (?), and the other fabrics are also just as beautiful and lovely. Your choices were great. I have been taking a keen interest on Japanese culture and that fabric would make a wonderful outfit. Just for a change. So much good History and people in this world. Steve this video was amazing, I have seen so much, and my eyes were just drinking in all the beauty even of the church. The music was fantastic a very good selection from the happy celebration to the chanting at the church. Well done, as always, do take care, many blessings and kind regards.

Thank you ....thank you! We specifically liked it when you said today we will visit Paris and shop for fabrics. We are hand weavers of all kinds of fabrics. We were so great full to see those gorgeous shops that we will never in our lifetime have the chance to visit, let alone Paris and all those gorgeous places like the Art Gallery!! Astounding that furniture!! That church! The art places. I imagined Mozart etc. in those streets. (I'm a trained Performance pianist- really appreciating your artistic approach!). Wow!! Thank you this was such an interesting vlog. From the birthday present,.... best wishes for another year!! ...... to the incredible places you showed us in Paris. I just want to tell you HOW we look at your video, over coffee time.....It always is a long coffee break!!....We pause on everything you rush over and look into detail. Sometimes we are sad because you went over it too fast, then there wasn't a spot it didn't blur, like some of those gorgeous material. BUT......luckily you showed the internet shopping website, so no hard feelings. Hehe!! We will get our inspirations for our next hand crafted projects. NS, you've got seriously good taste with the bedroom choices you made. I will of course, add a type of ,...dash of purple,... to that jade/gold colours. Hehe!! Can't wait to see it finish!! Years ago, a friend of our asked my husband if he could store a vehicle for him at our house in BC, like he had done before, and he said 'sure''. Well, the next day a beautiful Shelby arrived at our house. Over the next few years, we had quite a few vintage cars stored in our garage, and hubby always said what else could a Englishman want!

Fabulous vlog! Firstly, Happy Birthday Sara and what a wonderful Birthday you had! Steve, I loved your commentary whilst wandering around Montmartre and Sacre-Coeur. I hope that you and Sara went back to watch the sunset over Paris from Sacre-Coeur. Musee d'Orsay is probably the most beautiful gallery we have ever visited. I'm not sure if the restaurants are still open in there, but we had lunch upstairs amongst the gargoyles, spent the afternoon wandering around the Musee and then had dinner on the main floor in what has to be the most beautiful restaurant we have ever eaten in. We loved it so much that we brought our son and his girlfriend to dine there the 2nd time we visited. Having travel envy from Vancouver Island! Merci.

Hey Steve- There is a vintage 1970s video of a sports car- with a camera mounted on the dashboard- racing through the streets of Paris just before sunrise .The driver who is absolutely not driving the speed limit ends his spectacular journey at the steps of Sacre Coeur.. I was shown it in the early 2000s and I highly you do a deep drive and try and find it. The sound of the car is unbelievably cool and he brakes etc.
I remember I was amazed that no pigeons or persons were killed during the driver's rapid journey through the streets of Paris. Cheers from Toronto

How crazy, I was just thinking the same about L'Art Nouveau period. I rarely see it anywhere. Here in the US we see Victorian styles like East Lake and loads of Deco, but rarely Nouveau. What a shame. The Alexander Palace has some really beautiful Nouveau influences thanks to Nicolas and Alexandra.
Stephanie's friends Oliver and Camilla Strong have a fabulous Nouveau mansion en Catalonia, Espana. The walls, the floors, the ceilings, the whole one of a kind home is nothing short of amazing.

OK 67 mustangs 💖 The boys who drove those always got a wink 😉 I grew up going to car shows and cars being frontline in my home. My Dad owned a business that provided tools and parts for Ford - John Deer etc. I remember collecting car pamphlets at every car show so I could find my dream car.
OMG the fabrics are amazing! I bet shopping for fabric in Paris is a dream - I know it would be for me. I was an avid sewer for years and I have recovered a few furniture pieces. Oooo how amazing would it be to have the art nouveau arches and wood details where you took the wall down!

Few people realise that the Sacré Coeur was finished in 1923 , making it quite modern ! I met one of my closest friends on the steps back in September 1978 ! I used to buy tiny religious medals in the tiny souvenir shop inside and send them to people. xoxoxox

Next time you have a celebration take a trip to Belgium to visit the Victor Horta house in Brussels and Cogels- Osylei in Antwerp where there is a whole street with gorgeous art nouveau houses.
