- found this in the archive...the "directors cut" which was later shortened to about 4 minutes....brings back some great memories...proof that jason everman was actually in SG and that the world of music and the music business was alive!
"They're loud, but good loud, not trashy loud"
@Gael Trenton yea, I have been watching on flixzone} for years myself =)
Louder than Good!!!😊 Soundlouden
I like thrash bruh
OH YOU said trash
Damn, Chris's advanced sarcasm is one of the main things I'm really gonna miss. It seemed like at least 40% of what came out of his mouth you could never really be certain if he was being serious about or not.
@Josh Weaver Ben Sheppard has always looked very lost, seeing his eyes.
I saw them on this tour; November of 1989 at St. Andrew's Hall in Detroit. Best $8 I ever spent. :D
$8 that is unreal
$8?!?? That’s it! I’d pay way more lmao
@@sarahssentongo2587 that's it. I saw NIN at the same place 8 months later for like $12 at most.
I saw Mr Bungle and FNM there 3 times ... and many other bands but sadly never soundgarden
The only band I ever saw there was Robin Trower .I met him and got his autograph..he was a super nice Guy
"Best Led Zeppelin rip-off and worst Led Zeppelin rip-off...and we got in both." - Matt Cameron. Hilarious!
SG was already world famous 1989. I was living in Estonia, which was a part of Soviet Union those days and I heard SG from state radio station and not only one time. It was amazing, it was special, it was totally different. The term grunge appeared about 1,5 years later and NOT about Nirvana (which exploded later), it was about Soundgarden.
Awesooome! :D thank you for sharing that
awesome man
Nirvana is way overrated, Alice is Chains and SG are gems
@@tremblence nah pj is overrated. Sg’s best album came up 93-94 thou
@@jingyitay6179 PJ isn't overrated, Even Flow, Alive, Jeremy all classic songs
isn't it weird how SG went from Jason Everman to Ben Shepard when Nirvana had Everman on rhythm guitar then almost replaced him with Shepherd? Most ppl don't know that Shepard was nearly in Nirvana
Shepherd was a good guitarist but his bass playing was unmatched by other grunge artists, with Jeff Ament being slightly debatable
@@toad2117 mike starr is up there. Very creative and heavy.
@@toad2117 I'm not even sure what that means by "grunge artists". What is that, six bands?
Man, somebody should release a DVD from Soundgarden...with all musicvideos, interviews and such AWESOME rockumentaries...
"good loud, but not trashy loud" - sums it up perfectly - good music is good music
RIP Chris .....you will be missed. One of the most beautiful voices in Rock!
Old Soundgarden ruled. Saw them in 87 opening for Voivod with Faith No More. Hiro was still on bass.
had to be some time in 89 before jason joined because that tour was 89/90, in 1987 they had just released their first EP on Sub Pop
All soundgarden ruled!!
Wow. This is some classic video. Everyone is looking so young and Chris pre-stache. He looked so young without the stache. Probably why he grew it. lol.
haha that's what I always thought as well )
At least he has a sarcastic side to him, which is all about the conditioner.
That was hysterical
1:32 so young and with a voice long awaited in the rock realm.once I heard that vocal I was blown away and still am to this day! great band!
"we say fuck like 34 times..so, people kinda take that out of context" hilarious
Sound Garden was one of my favorite bands growing up. I also love Motherlovebone
Cornell and Cameron were such headbangers then lol
"They're good loud, not trashy loud."
-Joan Cusack
Matt Cameron one of the best rock drummers that I´ve ever heard. Soundgarden,Gruntruck and Alice In Chains the essence of 90´s and Grunge era
+Tim O'Shannessy ...Whatever..Good music thats all.
+Tim O'Shannessy Exactly. The labels are fucking bullshit. It's hard rock/punk/blues/metal......lol Just great fucking music, to simplify.
props for the Gruntruck reference
damn... you spelled skin yard wrong... sorry for your loss :(
Rip Chris I can't be leave your gone :(
10 years late, born I was.
Even though the band distanced themselves from Louder Than Love after its' release, it's still my favourite SG LP, and I can remember being totally stoked to see them have their major label breakthrough in 1989 that eventually eluded Mother Love Bone the following year.
I love Chris.... baby Chris!!! "Lifting weights in the mirror... etc." Shit
After listening to Chris I relate as a singer and as a person love always k
well we know know Vedder stole it all from Cornell, even the rafter climbing.
I think Vedder would openly admit that
Well some say Chris stole from Wood, his gf included. I don't know. But I wish Vedder had plunged off a rafter in the early 90s.
He also stole the move of jumping into a crowd with a guitar. Cornell was the first to do that... at least in that scene.
i think everyone in that scene was inspired by Chris
Crown surfing, stage diving, stage climbing existed years before Chris did it. He didn’t invent it or own it. He was influenced by bands before him and so was Vedder. Nothing wrong with either of them doing that.
1:09 i need those pictures I NEED PICTURES OF CHRIS CORNELL WITH CATS
some please tell me why 1:15 is so damn funny. it makes me crack every time
chris cornell used to be human perfection back in those days
This is gold.
Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, and Alice in Chains defined the early and mid 90's. Great music.
I saw Soundgarden in 91 with GNR for the first time at an arena show and have been along for the ride ever since!! woooooooooooooo!!!
they are all all so attractive oh my ive never seen such beautiful souls like them
Louder Than Love will ever be their best...
I really dig the older unpolished music they made
they are pretty amusing. I like Matt playing Chris' leg like its a guitar !
This video is so awesome, thanks for uploading it.
Thanks for sharing this!
I saw them a little after this on loud love tour , had to drive to San Diego. Because all Los Angeles shows were sold out. They opened for Danzig and corrosion of conformity opened for them. Was Danzigs crowd, but Chris Cornell was so on that night at San Diego state university. SOUNDGARDEN Blew them all away ! Was amazing . Best band I ever saw live !
yes, i think its great that Hiro left and eventually formed Truly which is a superb Seatlle rock band. Ben was a huge addition to this band, he really added alot to their sound with classics like zero chance, head down, and somewhere to name a few.
Chris is so funny i love him and i love Soundgarden
the pickles out of the window killed me lmaooo
alice in chains is my favorite band of all time but soundgarden must be number 2 cornells voice in the early 90s was just unbelievable and matt cameron is amazing
Can't even imagine them at CBGB. So small!! Although i saw robin trower in a small bar in Easthampton back in 2000. THAT was loud!! And really good. Go see To in Trower now!! He's still rockin.
I saw SG last year in vegas and my mind was fucking blown as to what a great drummer he is.
I’m so proud of them:)
This is an excerpt from the Louder than Live VHS Tape.
yes Good loud.
Loud love
Saying fuck 32 times in a song is okay Matt Cameron. I'm working "courgette" and "negative equity" numerous times into a single song myself.
So cool! Wish there was more
First, I believe Hiro left to finish a Masters degree, then Jason Everman came in and was only involved in touring. They ended up having him leave since he just didn't fit in, personality-wise.
@vincit30 Jason played bass on SG's cover of "Come Together"
Lol he said he had a lot of practice combing his hair and using a lot of conditioner( referring to his preparation for Soundgarden's mass appeal) . Kind of reminds me of some of the comments Kurt Cobain made in early Nirvana interviews. Just crazy off the wall comments.
Hes so serious 6:44 and hes right all the way!
He's a thrasher, check the Dirty Rotten Imbeciles patch :D
Wow. Nice video 📹
early `89 i heard about Sound Garden from an underground /Alt Radio station out of King city Ca
WOW , 1989 and they said the word : ALTERNATIVE ROCK
I guess music really was changing back when SOUNDGARDEN took over , back when Seattle grunge and the likes of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Mudhoney and Alice In Chains were revolutionizing how rock music was produced and marketed.
5:56 these guys are either psychic or from the future & came back to 1989 to see Soundgarden in their early club going days.
They were legit, no pretense, and they were correct. I'm going with psychic.
"Throughout the song, we said fuck like 32 times..so..people kinda take that out of context."
LOVE MATT CAMERON-amazing drummer, hilarious in interviews!
Was he(Chris) married to Susan when this was taped?,
Lol “it’s the first band I’ve met that didn’t care wether they had a mirror in the dressing room”
@EpicBucket47 That song is called "hunted down." Good ear to be intrigued by that one. One of the great early soundgarden songs that really got me on their bandwagon.
"They're good loud - not trashy loud - good loud"
"You wanna hear where's at? Soundgarden's where's at".... I couldn't have said it better myself. SO rad they're back. ;)
@Jeff Suhy did you make this doc?
3:01 thoooooo
Yeeeeeeaaaahhh.... I wish they left a bit more of the song in the footage.
3:48 Jason started thing about Army Rangers
@MrTimTew
Every thing Chris touched became to gold.
Chris Cornell!! Belíssimo, amei ver ele beijando o gatinho💓❣️💜
1:23 - Crazy "grungy" sound. Cool!
0:29 what song is that?
It's such a shame they never got all the acclaim nirvana got/ still gets today.
Is that the same Jason Everman at 3:43 that played with Nirvana for a little in the late 80s?
rsohlich1 Yes..
no theres two lol
I Love Temple of the Dog
And I love Church of the Cat 🤓🚀
Matt Cameron how's u get such pretty hair?
Everybody says how attractive Chris was , and don't get me wrong he was the sexiest man to ever walk the planet, but Matt Cameron was also really cute, not to mention the fact that both of them were immensely talented
I was just watching "Life is Beautiful" where the Roberto Begnini (sp?) character chanted "let this happen" to get what he wanted. Ohhhm, German TV play some Soundgarden concerts, Ohhhhhm!
@theworldindepth hes drumming for both soundgarden and pearl jam
If they didn't break off from SubPop they'd prb be as lowkey as TAD. They were way ahead of their time.
2:55 is that Frank Zappa's face on Matt's drums?
Wow. People from the late '80s were SOOOO cool.
Who did the bass parts on Louder Than Love, Jason or Hiro?
hiro
@@somedaysometimethere goes my Hiro!!
kewl...
Does anybody else notice that Kim looks exactly the same in every year 😂
big stars
even broke up inbetween , started other bands , now are back together
Weird to think that they weren't always legends.
@rocketqueen18 He is STILL human perfection.
Yes. he's the same guy.
0:29
whats the name of the song?
basically a decade late haha but if you still haven’t found it, it’s Hunted Down
@@somedaysometime thank you
their good loud indeed
You wanna know where's at, Soundgarden is where's at... amen brother.
LOL @Kim Thayil fucking around with that cat, 4:49
"They're loud, but good loud, not trashy loud" -middle aged woman 30 years ago, nice
Matt is some kind of fucking Dorian Gray, what with the not aging. He seriously looks almost the same.
He’s been cloned 3 times 😵💫😵💫😵💫
@PGROSYE02 The difference between the 2 bands is not about the level of acclaim, but the record sales. As much as I love Soundgarden, I can´t think of any song which was so hard-hitting and spot-on as "Smells Like Teen Spirit" back in 91. Yeah, in 89/90 Soundgarden had everything going for them to become really big and to break Seattle into the mainstream, but then came Nevermind. Nirvana were more about loud-soft dynamics, beatlesque melodies and punk aggression + angsty lyrics,
Andre2010 smells like teen spirit is garbage. Sorry.
yeah, one hit wonder pretty much, but spot-on, that's true
where is everman?
1989 ?
you know now its the year 2012
i think Soundgarden have come quite a long way since then :)
What song is at 00:30?
Hunted down of hunted down album. ha, ha
@rocketqueen18 he still is ....
That's because most people, when confronted by something new and original can't comprehend and make sense of it. So their feeble little minds try to relate it to something they do understand. Which for most people who can't judge new originality, means Zep or Sabbath.
no,no,no,no, Danny Carry from tool
Gregg Carter hands down....he sets the industry standard....
