The video was prepared to make it looks easy. Very hard to open this phone in reality. Instead, I got it fixed at here: www.ebay.com/itm/372066414649?ul_noapp=true
It really isn't as difficult as it may seem. Unless u have never done this to any phone or device, then it may not be a good idea to do this by yourself.
Hi there! Thanks very much for this really well done tutorial. Do I have to follow all the steps if I merely want to replace the front glass (NOT the LCD) ?
I followed these and a couple of other video's steps successfully and took my time doing it. It was a royal pain in the ass and the battery glue removal was the harder parts. It is do-able though. One thing I added was removing the thermal paste on the processor and adding a dab of Arctic Silver 5. It lowered the temps a few deg, so i was a small thermal mod as well. I was all proud of myself for a few weeks and the flippin new screen cracked as well. Now I'm terrified to attempt this a second time on the same phone. Might just use this one as target practice and buy an Honor 10....
Thanks for the video. I've just fitted my new screen. My advice for anyone else attempting this would be to buy the screen & frame combo, along with a new battery & antenna cable. The battery was a nightmare to get out and you can't help but bend it slightly as your trying to prise it away. Much better idea is to leave the battery in the old frame, and fit a new one in the new frame/screen combo. The antenna is now somehow about 5mm longer than when it came out, and makes it very difficult to get everything closed up. Have a new one ready instead. I managed to get the battery cover off mine by just using the heat from a radiator and a suction pad & opening triangle. God that battery! :o( You'll need a deck of cards with 5 aces in it.
i know by watching this videos that this would be " How to break your honor 8. I just wonder why they don t anymore make changeable batteries to smartphones
I'm not intimidated and this is by far the best video on the Internet for this procedure, but I'd love to have the choice to buy a phone with an easily replaced battery. My repair is going to cost me an extra $24.00 because I ripped the display ribbon cable, necessitating a complete teardown and screen replacement. Hmmmmmm. $24 to fix a $300 cell phone (now about $175)..... is it worth it? Heck yes! Full speed ahead.
The glue on my battery was way too hard, I tried the playing cards and they were too soft, both plastic and pasteboard. Ended up using my credit card, but even being extremely careful the battery ripped a little bit. It could be just my phone, but removing the battery was a bitch. Everything else was pretty easy.
and how are your photos in darker surroundings? after i replaced my backcover, i get really bad pictures, with flashligt in darker surroundings :( tried with a lot of adhesives between flashlight and camera, but i always have a shine/foggy glimmer, in the picture. Because of the flash. :(
I did notice that when using the flash, but not always, is like a smudge. During the day or at night with light no problem. Also try holding the phone really steady because it takes a bit more to process the image at night. My guess is that is probably dust, dirt or the tape. I'm going to open it up again and put new tape, clean the cover, and use compressed air to remove any dust remaining, it should be quick. I haven't done it because I don't take a lot of pictures and I ordered an new back cover with a different color (parts for this phone are cheap since is from china).
+Alejandro Leyva hello :) i have tried everything. new back cover. new plastic frame etc. but it's always the same problem :( i know this problem with sony xperia Z5, for example. if the back panel don't has the original seal/adhesive to protect the camera of the flash light. :( i dont know what i should do. dont find real original frame with original adhesive.
Benjamin Kottmann that sucks man, my suggestion would be to contact honor directly, not Huawei, I believe they have different customer service. Also did you put tape in the gaps between the cameras and flash?, that may help. And where did you buy the cover from, i got mine directly from China. m.ebay.com/itm/Glass-Rear-Back-Cover-Battery-Door-Middle-Frame-Bezel-For-Huawei-Honor-8-Black-/272555433068?nav=SEARCH
This device must be mostly disassembled to remove the display. Speakers, motherboard, battery, headphone jack, and daughter board should all be removed to prevent damage from heating the display.
Love this:) i need to change my rear glass panel:/ How do i remove the fingerprintsensor from the broken panel and attach it to the new rear glass panel? Tried to find the parts and tools at your website...but there is nothing there to buy:(
You can remove the finger print sensor by heating the glass back and using a spudger to pry it free. We don't currently have parts in stock if you would like an accurate time frame of when they will be available please feel free to email us at support@fixez.com
I bought an assembly instead of a just an LCD digitizer combo. Its not really that hard. I imagine, however, it is a hard "first timer". The glue for the battery is on tight. Very tight. I was worried about heating it up too much...I ended up tearing the battery shrink wrap. No leakage but it did have a distinct "medical" smell that made me worry. Bought a new battery for 9 dollars. Tip: The guides don't have you remove the IR blaster don't forget to bring it over to the new assembly.
how do you take the fingerprint sensor out of the rear glass panel? I broke the back of my Honor 8 and I am trying to repair it but the new back cover I ordered doesn't come with a fingerprint sensor. it just has a hole there, as if I should remove my old one and put it into the new back cover.
how much will it cost me if I let you do this ? my front glass is broken and as you turn on the screen after 5 seconds it begins to show weird things so after a minute you can't see what's on the display so I also think the lcd should be replaced it also begins to click on random things by itself after a minute so you can't use the phone normally but the touchscreen works fine
literally use anything sticky, as long as it sticks it works, if you dont wanna drown your device after you drop it in water then i’d recommend buying the rolls. (I know this comment is 6 years old but sometimes i wish someone responded to my comments no matter of the time frame
Is it possible to replace just the front glass? I found the part for about $3, but I hear that you pretty much have to replace the whole front screen assembly, even if it's just for the broken front glass.
Hi everyone, I should replace the back cover on a Honor 8 where the fingerprint sensor is housed, but I do not know how to remove the sensor. Can you tell me how to do it or a tutorial? Thank you...
Where i get good spare parts? after i replaced my backcover, i get really bad pictures, with flashligt in darker places :( tried with a lit of adhesives between flashlight and camera, but i always have a shine/foggy glimmer, in the picture. Because of the flash. :(
Search ebay or aliexpress for "huawei honor 8 vibrator" and buy a new one, costs about 3-4 bucks. And yeah, there's no need to remove it during screen replacement, it is not that heat sensitive. Btw the playing card in the video must be made of tough steel. My battery just laughed at cards and plastic tools, only a miniature metallic spatula did the trick. The display glue was really tough. I used a heat gun at 200C for 10-30s periods around the perimeter but it seemed to have negligible effect on the glue. Eventually chiseled, rolled, ripped and scraped the damn thing away piece by piece. Managed to tore some of the front bezel away too, cleaned it, glued back. If anyone asks about the sings of violence around the bezel I'll say a beaver stole my phone and gnawed it. If I had to do it again I'd buy preassembled display+frame combo.
God this was the worst phone to ever repair. I'm never taking in a repair job for a huawei ever again. The battery snapped while I took 40 minutes to get the damn adhesive off I HIGHLY RECOMMEND buying the lcd/screen that comes already attached to a new midframe, as it is a fucking bitch to get the screen off the old frame while not damaging the frame itself. Also be very, very careful with the signal cable, as the plug on the motherboard just broke right off as I was plugging it back in... On top of all this the screen I had ordered came with a broken power button flex cable so I can't turn on my phone to find out if i can still get wifi or not :I Phone from hell. lol
The only thing i know after watching the video is that i am not doing this by myself
The video was prepared to make it looks easy. Very hard to open this phone in reality. Instead, I got it fixed at here: www.ebay.com/itm/372066414649?ul_noapp=true

Success!! Budget about 1:45 hours to do this if it's your first time. Took me about 1:45 hours for my first time.

Hi there! Thanks very much for this really well done tutorial. Do I have to follow all the steps if I merely want to replace the front glass (NOT the LCD) ?
Interesting that the battery reads 2900mah, while spec sheets say its a 3000mah battery? What's the deal with that?
it depends on voltage -- higher voltage -- lower mAh and opposite

not true. You just remove the battery and open the front display like the back and pull that display connector

Repairing any device yourself will void any warranty.
